Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I hope that magician guy's outfit and hair is in CaS. I could make a killer Dr Strange with bits of his outfit, and his hair looks pretty decent.
There's an NPC in the Libra trailer that uses the coat from the new guy's outfit, so his parts might be useable in CaS:

I actually wanted to post this in the roster speculation thread since this might mean he's playable (the other characters have their costume parts in CaS), but eh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Algol appeared in a trailer before he had a name or fighting style. I’m sure that’s “Azwel” or whatever you want to call Groh’s dad. Hope CaSes can use his style since Viola’s gone.
You don't know that yet for sure :c
Since they showed Tira I would really like to see what they would /could do with Viola. The overall design is sick :v
(need more edgy grils xD)

That's a good point but the armor destruction for all the base roster characters may also indicates that all of their outfits will be useable in CAS mode. So this guy can still have his own char slot.

Anyway, I hope he will not haha

Jokes aside It's been so long It's been so long since I've been on here, I didn't even say anything about Seong Mina actually managing to get in either! :o But yeah preorder dlc stuff aside design wise Tira looks great.

edit: Wait is it £30 extra to get the preorder for Tira?! :o

Guessing a marketing plan here :

If a character is not a potential waifu character (aka male) or he is unpopular, he will have more chance being in the base roster or being cut out than being DLC.

Since DLC Season seems full waifu and bikini materials... that's also why their won't be Raphael neither Yunseong on it, you will have less incentive buying the whole pass, since they can't wear bikinis...

Am I correct ?

To everyone being surprised or annoyed at people complaining about dlc characters...

If someone told you in advance that they are going to punch your face or steal your belongings and it does come to pass, you would complain in a similar manner. People should expect dlc to have some popular characters, but they will complain regardless just because they can (and it's justified when it's pre-release). It doesn't matter that they might have known beforehand.

There’s always Rock and Algol.

Besides Voldo is kind of creepy and Astaroth may not even be anatomically correct.

But I hope that saves a Korean swordie and Raph. Unless they go with Amy which would be really sick.

I’m curious if we’ll see more in these upcoming days...

I thought Tira and Raph would be in the base roster, providing it with two reps from both 2 & 3 (Talim, Raph; Zas, Tira) while leaving Sets and Cassie for DLC, but now I'm not so sure. They did say this would specifically be a retelling of 1 & 2, so maybe Zas is just an outlier story-wise and Raph and Cassie will be in there too, but we'll see I guess.

Could just as easily be SC2's roster + Zas, Groh, Geralt, and the mage minus Charade. Hwang is too unrealistic to expect to be honest. And I already mentioned the curious absence of Yun-Seong's hair which is generally at the top of the hairstyle lists.

The axe has me curious but I'm sure the Lizzy was using Sophie's block even though realistically she wouldn't use one. Again, we may luck out and get Cassandra with the larger equipment like Aeon's which includes the axe. Not "that" kind of larger equipment.

And it could be my imagination, but there's something subtle about Tira's art. Neither Gloomy or Jolly seem like the smirking type. The two sides of her facial expression mirror her personalities.

And I think that since she’s based off her IV-V gimmick when the personalities become more distinct than just mood swings, that may be why Tira was made DLC. Same way I expect Raph to be such to be honest since his vampirism wasn’t around the time the story is set.

Why developers hate Hwang so much? He's a great character and can be a perfect rival for Yun-seong or his Mentor! And he can plays differently then Yun too! He Can be more solid, have more self-control and a little stronger, but Yun can be more quick, mobile and carefree.

You don't need to pre-order the season pass, you need to buy it, only 10 people in this thread already pointed it out.

The deluxe edition is just that, base game + season pass.
The language is still not clear at all. That tweet still leaves the main question of "do you need to pre-order the SP" open. The wording is intentionally being unclear to pressure people into thinking they have to pre-order the SP and spend $90 pre-launch.

I don't think they hate him, it's just that most people's first entry into the Soul series was Soul Calibur II. I think that's why OG characters like Hwang, Li Long, and Rock are not as popular.

I take the way Tira is and what they said about a true personality to mean that Jolly and Gloomy are the main aspect, but similar to an idea passed around by various people on here, her Soul Charge state might awaken her true personality as a 3rd state of its own, to further amplify that unique aspect to her gameplay. If so, that's quite the interesting and welcome way to implement a 3rd personality naturally into the mix. Given how characters' new movesets have been so far, I'm really curious to see her full moveset considering how far they could take Jolly and Gloomy altering her moves and properties.

You know what a full stop means? Did you see the season pass, as soon as it was revealed, to include 3 characters + a bonus one when it was revealed at E3? Did you see how Tira was called several times, a bonus character for people with the season pass?

I know you're pissed, but you seem to be purposely misinterpreting the information to make it look worse than it is, no one here is happy about it and you can say it is a moral standing, but Soul Calibur is not a series that can afford to not play by the cards set by giants like Tekken and Street Fighter, or even a more recent example in Dragon Ball fighters.

If you want some perspective, Street Fighter V took a year to sell 2.5 copies, Nioh a new IP sold 2M in a one year lapse.

Now look at a maximum income IP Call of Duty: WWII sold 10 Million copies, do you see how much a game like Calibur needs that to make some money? Fighting game IPs are niche as they come and Calibur is the closest thing to a "niche mainstream" game, it has a name and a legacy, but it sells around 1.5M.
