Guess The Next Character Reveal(s)!

My hope is that TGS will announce the remaining base roster in a big trailer similar to the Grøh/Nightmare/Xianghua/Kilik trailer. Just imagine the crowd going wild at this:

CERVANTES!
LIZARDMAN!
HWANG!
RAPHAEL!
NEW FEMALE!
INFERNO!

You forgot the character revealed in Libra of Souls. I suggest not hoping, it will only hurt in disappointment when the full roster comes out. Just assume the new character and Cervantes are the only two left.

I remember "hope" in SoulCalibur V and it was crushed really badly. Don't let this be the same.

No, that wouldn't be enough. I didn't forget the Wizard because he was already revealed and added. There's more than 20 characters, that's been confirmed forever ago.

They never confirmed it though. They only stated that the character select screen isn't an indicator for how many characters there will be and people took that in a positive way.

I simply suggest tempering expectations lest you be disappointed. And if we do get more characters, you will genuinely be very happy for being wrong. Take this from someone who was hyped for SoulCalibur V until the full roster was revealed.

@Nyte -- That's one too many, one more spot just isn't really conducive to the design as it is.

If you were only adding one, for the center slot, it would be fine, but if you have a 5x5 grid and then one more, where does it go?

Visual:
Code:
Hwang Siegfried Zasalamel Nightmare Lizardman
Xianghua Maxi Sophitia Astaroth Ivy
Yoshimitsu Kilik Inferno Grøh Voldo New Female?
Talim Mitsurugi Geralt Taki Cervantes
Seong Mi-na Raphael Wizardman Tira Random

It's not like they can't expand the select screen. They'll have to for DLC. Anyways, I'm guessing Inferno could get his own spot? I'll admit that the select screen looks too cramped. Should've been something like this:

But in any case, this would make for 23 base characters. Pretty solid number to start with.

Cervantes seems the most likely, but I'd prefer it if it were Hwang and/or Raphael, for more of a surprise.

Are people not concerned about when Okubo said there isn't a lot of characters left to reveal? 18 characters have been officially revealed and there are 23 slots. Assume that the season pass characters take up a slot then we have 5 unrevealed characters. Save 3 slots for DLC then that leaves us with 2 unrevealed character. This leaves us with Cervantes and the new character. At most, I would say the leak with "Ivy Blade" and "Azwel" is correct and we would get Raphael.

As much as I would love to see Hwang and Aeon, I would save myself from the disappointment after what happened in SoulCalibur V. I don't want to be a hype killer but at least when they reveal the full roster, I wouldn't be disappointed for being right but I would be very happy for being wrong.

Since Inferno has already technically been revealed, as well as Wizardman, there's really only four characters left to reveal if it does end up being, for example, Hwang, Lizardman, Cervantes, and Raphael. I would indeed quantify "four" as "not a lot", just personally. As for the other three DLC characters, coming later in the game's life, I'm not expecting to see reveals before launch.

Thinking about it now, it actually is possible that the previous leak with "Ivy Blade" is correct and the two circles on the bottom is for Character Creation and Random. Assuming that the four recently added slots are for DLC or they are rearranged so that the four DLC are at the bottom row, we could see something like this:

Code:
                Raphael Siegfried Zasalamel Nightmare Cervantes
                Xianghua Maxi Sophitia Astaroth Ivy
                Yoshimitsu Kilik Inferno Grøh Voldo
Talim Mitsurugi Geralt Taki Seong Mi-na
CaC Azwel Hwang* Guest* Aeon* Tira* Random

Hwang and Aeon or Lizardman would be there because an older leak that brought up the name Azwel also brought these characters up. Added in a guest there since there is a good chance there will be a guest. It's likely we will have to wait for Season 2 to see Cassandra, Yun-Seong, Setsuka, and Hilde in SoulCalibur VI. Since Tekken 7 appears to have more characters in Season 2 than in Season 1 then we could also be seeing more characters and another guest thrown in for a SoulCalibur VI Season 2.

Azwel and Inferno has been "technically" revealed but not "officially" revealed. I'm assuming we will see four more characters to be revealed and it will be Cervantes, Raphael, Inferno, and Azwel.

I'm hoping people will still buy and support the game even if their favorite character doesn't appear at launch. Chances are that we will see them in a possible Season 2 if the game is successful.

Okubo already confirmed there's only one guest in the base game. Any more guests will be DLC.

I'm sorry, but I just refuse to believe that we'll be staring at three (or four, if you don't buy Tira/season pass) blank roster slots for possibly months. One for Tira is acceptable, as this has precedent in SoulCalbur IV with Darth Vader or Yoda and SoulCalibur V with Dampierre, but no way would there be more than one.

I don't know what to expect right now but I hope you are right...

IMO the only character reveals yet to be confirmed for launch roster are: Cervantes, Raphael and the new character (Azwel?) in no particular order. (Lizzy does not count as main... probably unlockable or bonus in-game).
Inferno being the mimic.

If that becomes true then I will be missing Hwang and Rock considering this was supposed to be a 20th anniversary thing.

Wow, I hope you are wrong lol. That's a pretty bland DLC lineup, for me personally anyways.

But you have a point, that the worst scenario that is also realistic is that there is only 4 more slots left, going to two who have already basically been revealed (Wizard/Azwel and Cervantes), and the two other obvious choices Raphael and Inferno.

The realistic optimistic scenario is 6 (to 8 for super optimistic) more reveals left, most likely Hwang and Aeon left.

I think for a satisfied fan base, at least 6 non-DLC reveals is a wise choice, considering who is left.

Leaving out Tira, Cassandra, and either Aeon/Hwang out of base is going to irritate a high handful of people.

We already know about Azwel(which I’ll refer to as the mage) and Cervantes. (2)

Aeon and Inferno are iffy. The latter and Azwel are interchangeable on the select screen. (4?)

Raphael and a Korean swordsman are good guesses (6.)

Less likely options are Cassandra and Rock.

Still, 4-6 isn’t a lot left.

The only other evidence for Cassandra is that assuming that we get a mass reveal of the remaining base roster (minus possibly AzWiz or Inferno) is that mass reveals generally revealed a woman and an axe could suit her occasional gladiatrix motif. Hwang-Seong at least has the dao shown in that Libra banner. And Raph’s story is connected to the Evil Seed too.

Plus I believe that since Mi-Na and Siegfried have little to no supernatural abilities and the flashy stuff is just flair, Cassie and the Korean swordsman can provide for mundane CEs.

It would be such a nice surprise to see both Korean swordsmen on the roster if they can manage to bring Mi-na and deviate her so much already from Kilik. Seeing as they’re reusing a lot of assets for convenience, it wouldn’t take a lot of effort for them to rebuild Yun-seong for the new game. The bigger challenge is creating Hwang, but the blank slate (and his previous iteration being in the SC3 Arcade Edition of all places) would allow them to have so much creative freedom.
