I'm tellin you, Inferno is gonna end up with an Elysium alt. That is why it fits in the top left opposite of Azwel.
Why would this happen, though? We have no indication that Elysium will even be in the game, but Xianghua vs. Inferno is still 100% happening.

Evil SC (and by extension Elysium) most probably won't yet be a thing in SCVI (but would be in SCVII)
Cerv and Raph are most probably the last base characters (with unlokcable Inferno and Day One DLC Tira taking place in base roster, while other DLC being in those side dots), so I wouldn't hope for Cassy being anything more than NPC in the story (and possible DLC)

well it wasn't really "evil"

it was more a "order" vs "chaos" thing

but you're right about the other stuff

I don't know about you but the locked slots seem more and more likely

Yeah I'll sound hypocritical but I don't care about Tekken advertising the blank DLC slots to me.

The game has been out for over a year and they just released a new pass.

Soul Calibur on the other hand.... ehehehe

(4 characters is not enough!)

We have been told SC and SE have a lot of similarities in their nature and how they function.

It isnt necessarily appropriate to view Soulcalibur as "good".

SC5 introduced Elysium that essentially is the same as Inferno.

Since Soulcalibur has been introduced, each game has been increasingly pushing the concept of balance. This game appears to be no exception in that regard. The bosses in particular are pushing the concept as they appear to wield power from both swords. If balance is the central theme here, it stands to reason Elysium is available.

Honestly a more appropriate question is "why not?" Inferno is nothing more than a basic model with fire effects and SE. Presumably this game will again feature different forms of SE for each moveset so its only natural to assume the same for SC. So then.... pretty much most of the work is already done.

Finally, the very fact Azwel is on the upper right corner means someone to properly counter him needs to be on the left. Even if we have no indication of Inferno's "alt color", it is the best explanation for the current character placement.... unless you're willing to entertain Algol returning (which i would be ecstatic). Judging by how everyone conveniently leaves him out of their DLC predictions. I take it he isnt the desired alternative.

No it isnt Hwang.

To be fair, if the roster is complete at launch with Raph, Cervantes, and Inferno, there’s still space for some more slots should there be another season pass.

Azwel should have been where the empty slot is under Cervantes, because Talim vs. Azwel would have actually made a ton of sense, since Talim is all about balance, and then Hwang vs. Lizardman could have rocked the top row and also made plenty of sense. Not that I actually think it matters anymore because of Yoshimitsu vs. Cervantes and Seong Mi-na vs. Voldo, but... yeah, mistakes were made with regards to roster placement. I'll be very surprised if Inferno is anywhere other than the center slot, though, as Inferno is the center fabric that binds the entire series together.

Yeah I thought the same thing. Talim and Azwel seem like perfect polar opposites of each other. One is a twisted corrupted version of balance and the other a healthy pure version of balance.

Ok... it doesnt matter where Azwel should have been. This is where he is so we have to go from there.

Consider this, Inferno has to have an alt color if he is playable, right? So, what color should be selected? Pretend you're on the development team and considering colors. Now throw in the fact that there will be Soulcalibur weapons for several character already availabe... same as you already have for SE for Inferno anyway. Now this isnt confirmed fact but consider this is logical as well. We have Libra of Souls mode, where characters select thier own alignment. If its like that, i'd say an SC and SE version needs to exist for every character, even Cervantes and Nightmare because of CAS characters.

So, blue color holding SC weapons. Minimal visual adjustments done to Inferno, weapons already there and available, again like i said before,

Why not?

"Inferno is the center fabric that binds the entire series together"

The game is called "Soulcalibur".

Even assuming that's true, there isn't anything that tells the alternate color to use a different weapon. It's not like 1p/2p where they have a variant or sometimes different weapon for the 2p costume, both the color 1 and color 2 for every character we've seen so far uses the same weapon, regardless. Nightmare's Soul Edge doesn't turn into the Soul Calibur from SoulCalibur II or even lose any of its red in any way, shape, or form, so expecting the color 2 version of Inferno to use Soul Calibur weapons instead of Soul Edge weapons isn't reasonable.

It hasnt happened before because there hasnt been a reason for it. If we are assuming Inferno is in, and playable, and a mimic then there is a reason. Mainly because not everyone will want to use a flaming SE wielding demon for their character in this game that pushes the theme of balance.

Purple or Green.

Story wise there is no reason for that here either. Theme of "SC is sentinent too and just as dangerous if not more than SE" is not going to be brought up here yet. SC is just good, SE is just bad - "balance". Next game (if there will be one, but I'm quite positive about it) would probably be about that revelation though.

The alt color could also be blue or orange to emulate Will O' The Wisp from SoulCalibur III, which continued to use Soul Edge weapons.

I'm not doubting that there may be Soul Calibur weapons for each character, but I wouldn't expect Inferno to use them in any capacity.

Unfortunately I expect the Azwel vs. Talim obvious rivalry will end up ignored and result in another wasted potential video.

like say they reveal raphael tomorrow and save cerv for tgs. once tgs starts thats 30 days until the game is released. so idk.

ideally we get nothing tomorrow. probably a new trailer for online mode. and tgs shows off cery, raph, liz, and hwang all together with a full build.
