Your previous quote sounds as though you're making online as an excuse to making yourself look better.REALLY !!!!!!!!!!!! u think? Dang man i didnt know that, I know what offline is and I know what online is, and you better listen up closely little seedling -- my style dont change up , no need to, cause I dont have a " ONLINE " style amy. Please dont be cliche with the whole " There is a huge gap between online and offline " when OOFMATIC and Something-UNIQUE and other assorted players play online alot and still rank high in tournements if not win them ( yes they also play offline to, but so do i )
I just fell off my chair laughing, like that time I woke up from a dream laughing after I proposed marriage to a girl and suddenly farted.Online is a viable way to get better at the game.
Your previous quote sounds as though you're making online as an excuse to making yourself look better.
The fact of the matter is we haven't heard anything about you in offline tournies so to come off saying like that to someone who travels frequently, who works hard and earns the crown through 87 contestants fair and square is like an insult and you don't get disrespected for posting that.
I know more about Oofmatic than you do, I've practiced with him since Soul Calibur 3 and the man has participated in a lot of tounies than you could ever imagine. He's a good offline player as well as a good online player. When an offline tourney comes that's when he disconnects and practices in offline gatherings.
For Something_Unique, I know that he migrated from online but I think there's something unique about him that makes him stand out, maybe he has good adaptation maybe itz his mind games or whatever. NEwayz after getting a good feel out of offline tournies he did admit that it messes up his performance in online.
But even though I say there is a huge gap btwn offline and online and I'll stick to it cuz I know from experience, but I did not indicate that you are gonna do bad offline.
Being good online is still a mystery how good you do offline and just because Something_Unique did well in tournies doesn't give u an excuse to sit in your crib and say "Oh I beat this guy hundreds of times online."
So all I'm say'n is watch what you're posting since you're someone we haven't heard off; otherwise, you'll get disrespect which you already had begin with and even if you do join an actual offline tourney, what if you place low? Think of the humiliation you would feel.
Kevin, I'll be the first to owe you an apology. I didn't really understand the sarcasm of your post; however, there's a couple things I want to point out.
-I didn't say that you're gonna suck offline. I've indicated that being good online is one thing but offline is a mystery since we haven't heard much about you in offline competitions.
-Who knows you maybe someone who may end up being good as Something_Unique, Offbeatninja or whomever, but all I'm just say'n watch what you're posting. The problem is that joke is not very obvious to me and a few others and the fact that you're new here would take some time for others to understand your style of posting. The point is so that in your first tourney or second or whatever you would have a clear start even if do lose 20 bucks at least ppl on the forums won't be humiliating you just like some dude did.
-I don't agree that a 5-bar connection is just like offline, there are still obvious lows that I couldn't block and the timing of the GI's is much harder. I rather react to certain moves than to guess but of course when it comes to guessing I rather prefer an educated guess than a lucky one.
-If you do join an offline tournament than you deserve my respect I don't care if you place high or low you've tried at least.
-If do continue than you'll gain more of my respect cuz it shows dedication. Yes I do know "Winning isn't everything" to you, me and some ppl here, but nonetheless that's the purpose of every tournament "Play-to-win" as Sirlin quoted. I've played two tournaments not only to win but to meet new competitors and earn their respect.
Well at least you've blurted a bit more about yourself, nice knowing you.
Let's just cut the crap and I'll take the blame for starting this.
And with a [5] connection fran, online is just like offline , only really lag u get is on those graphic heavy stages.
You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about... When you are gaming online, there are two metrics you need to worry about: Ping and Bandwidth. The connection chart of most online games ONLY measures ping... this includes SoulcaliburIV's "Bar" system. Ping measures how long it takes data to travel from one node to another; so the lower the ping the better... a [5] bar connection in SC4 means you have a low ping. It means it doesn't take a long time for data to transfer from one player to another...
The problem however is that this measurement in SC4 does not also take account for BANDWIDTH... (lots of PC games do, SC4 does not) Bandwidth measures how much data can be sent AT ONCE from one node to another. If you have a low ping and high bandwidth, that is good, and you will get a [5] bar connection. However, if you have a low ping and low bandwidth, that is just as bad as having a high ping... but in SC4, you will still get a [5] bar connection... even though the pipes cant handle it. You can play against someone across the street with a 56k modem... it will be worse than playing someone across the country with a T3.
Another problem is the way SC4 handles inputs. During a hiccup of lag, SC4 will THROW OUT the inputs during those lost frames. If you were inputting something and then it lags for the frames you are inputting, the game will simply ignore those inputs. In Virtua Fighter 5 (which has much better netcode), during a lag hiccup the game will instead buffer your inputs into memory... then when the lag hiccup ends, it will process your inputs at the speed and frames at which you inputted. So you barely notice the lag at all...
SC4 is just so poorly programmed on so many fronts and the netcode is just horrid... on both consoles.
Just too let everyone know, I'am not going to jip you guys, I will post all matches I have with, for and against the ATL Crew, including the loud grand Finals.
I am having a problem with my CPU uploading videos (they are skipping) so once I rectify this situation, the vids will go up on my youtube account and on the GA Community Blog.
