Soulcalibur VI DLC Discussion Thread

That'd be a tall order for sure. Wouldn't be cheap, either. For us or them.
I really can't think of any other mode that could be added, personally.

If they can add new modes, then I would like to see a Tag Team Battle mode. I've wanted that since they teased the idea in SoulCalibur IV.

It gets doubly stupid when someone tries to demonize objectification of fictional characters that are literally objects by definition to begin with. It's absolutely crazy. Fictional fighting game characters are getting beaten, cut, impaled, thrown down from cliffs and burned all day long on repeat for our amusement like a modern version of Roman gladiators and somehow this kind of objectification if alright, yet the moment boobs are involved, we are supposed to care about honor and agency of a fictional idea somebody else thought of. Give me a break.
I'm quite certain you are entirely missing the point I and others have been trying to make here. Nobody is bemoaning the plight of digital avatars. We're just saying that certain franchises, this one most assuredly included, can be very juvenile in it idea of what "sexy" is. And you must know that you're quoting me out of context to an extent where you are just outright inverting the meaning of my comments.
Ehhh, that's a pretty bold way to dismiss all possible criticism. You can't just disregard all reasonable complaints about objectification that people might have about the way women are represented in the series by suggesting it is really just about puritanical drives. Objectification means exactly what the morphemes of the word imply: it means reducing someone (or a class of someones, generally women) to objects meant for consumption and use. If you don't think there's at least a little bit of that going on in Soulcalibur's history of visual design, I think you've lost the plot.
So yesterday you told me "nobody is bemoaning the plight of digital avatars" and today you literally defend the "the plight of digital avatars" stance, going after the evil practice of dehumanizing of fictional characters (who are actually not real humans by the way).
Make up your mind already.

1) First off, there's this thing called "time", where certain things happen in a string of causality before others. Look into it--it'll change the organizational scheme of your life in much the same ways as not treating the random service employees you run into as "robots good only for the thing they can do for me" will reduce the number of people who have to take a deep breath after dealing with you during your commute...maybe.

2) And I've told you this part about five times now, so I don't really know why I am wasting the energy, but someone can defend as stance as not being deride-able without actually advancing that position themselves.

3) I don't think you even begin to understand the arguments that people (other people, not me--reasonable people, BUT NOT ME in this particular instance...it's not an argument I am advancing at this moment in time, about this particular work...I was simply telling another person I thought their lumping those people in with a different group of people entirely was not accurate...are we on the same page, can we move on?) who advance the argument that this or that work objectifies are making. It has nothing to do with the artwork itself being victimized (who would care about that, why do you keep advancing such an obnoxiously obvious straw man argument?) but rather what the work says about how the target class of person are meant to be regarded.

4) Why did you feel the need to bring this up again? Everyone else here is trying their hardest to return to more productive topics and managed to either drop this outright or take it to private messages. Even after I did your the courtesy of not deconstructing your last bonkers concept on the thread, you still had to jump in one more last time, even though you weren't the one being addressed. Come on, man...

5) Don't bother responding--in order to avoid the temptation to respond to whatever non-sequitor is coming next, and return this thread to it's nominal topic, I'm gonna have to block you for a bit. No offense intended in this move, I just think we need to move on and this should be the last of it.

Could always add a form of tag battle including an online form somehow, Legendary Souls but maybe this time adding the ability to unlock the used old costumes of characters as outfits for them, and Tower of Lost Souls from 4. Not sure what purpose the tower would serve at this point though, unless they were to use it as a way for people to unlock new customization parts and/or character costumes added through updates over time. I'd personally enjoy having it as a sorta challenge mode on the side to unlock whatever, especially seeing as I found it slightly disappointing that the only unlocks were titles really, and Inferno who, while interesting to use as an AI opponent, is lacking in purpose.

I expect if we see the tower return in any kind of practical function, it will be in the next entry (or later)--both because it's more work than I expect them to put into a mode at this point for this entry and because, thematically, it fits better if placed further into the narrative. But I tell you one thing that they could do which would fit like a glove for a SCI&II remake, that would cost them virtually zero effort, and yet would be very warmly received by pretty much anyone and thrill the old guard in particular: Team Battle. How did this not make it in the base game? How did it not make it into the last five games? Why did it go away to begin with!? We should start a twitter hastag / dev account bombardment: #IkuzouChīmuBatoru!!

Edit: Oh, haha, should have looked more closely: this line of discussion started with @Kraft_D already suggesting Team Battle. Well, great minds think alike. :)

Pre-release when Project Soul was listening to what the fans were asking for I was messaging them suggesting team battle as often as I could, and even now I still mention it in every feedback survey they send out. I was actually convinced it'd be in the game after seeing Libra footage of 1v3 match ups, but alas... That being said though I really don't think it would be hard to patch in seeing as how the game already has the functionality to make matchups like this happen with no load times in between rounds. Maybe with enough demand we can hope to see it at some point.

Camera mode like Smash... Hey, I’m a CaSaholic. Or maybe just patch in an option to choose your winpose. I hate how my main suddenly has Magneto powers after a good match I want to record.

At least for Nvidia users, Ansel support could do the trick instead of having the devs making their own camera mode since it works wonders when it comes to creating custom pictures, action shots, green screen pictures, spherical photos, etc. of your favorite characters.

I'm not sure why hasn't it been enabled for SCVI yet since it has been developed on Unreal Engine 4, one of the engines that supports the Ansel tool, however, i'm not sure what would it take to the devs enable it, so if the resources needed to enable such mode are too much i'd definitely prefer them to focus on other stuff such as actually playable content like the remaining season 1 DLCs instead, amd that's despite how much i'd love to be able to create custom wallpapers featuring the Soul Calibur cast and/or my CaS characters.

@StarDragon
If Final Fantasy XV's Windows Edition is any indication, the resources would be significant indeed.

Though I would wager there are also a lot of inefficiencies in that coding, so maybe not?

It's hard to tell, i guess the effort required varies from game to game since i found an article claiming that "The Witness" required 40 lines of code to enable such feature while "The Witcher 3" required 140. I'm still kinda skeptical about it since i have no clue on the reliability of Kotaku, but if the info is right i guess it isn't something that hard to do unless the game's code is an actual mess.

The existence of fan made tools developed using Cheat Engine (like this one) leads me to think that the hardest part is integrating ansel with the game and coding stuff such as when the player should or shouldn't be able to make use of the feature. After that, upkeep shouldn't be an issue since the whole system relies on byte scans and, for instance, a similar tool developed 1.5 years ago for Tekken7 has managed to keep working even after several updates.

IMHO The main problem of this game - is its unfinished and undoned, due to the small budget
-very few arenas. Many arenas are missing from the previous parts of the game. Including my favorite arena on the raft (in SC5 light raft was arena of Yoshi, dark raft was arena of Kilik)
-very few special intros and win poses. Many special intros and win poses are missing from the previous parts of the game. In SC5 each charatcter was 4 win poses chosed by press :A:\:B:\:K:\:G: after battle. In SC6 most character have 2 win pose and very few special intros.
-miss of second costume. In all previous games, each hero had two different costumes. In SC6 second costune is only recolored first costume.
I will be very happy if the authors of the game add new arenas and costumes and win poses
