Soulcalibur VI DLC Discussion Thread

if you're going to include a guest, include only one. Anything more than one guest is wishful thinking.

To be honest, I personally believe yellow could be something other than Hwang. Has yellow ever applied to a character or something in Soul Calibur in the past?

I feel like Hwang = Yellow could be stetching

That's just the thing, there just really isn't much else of anything that has to do with the color yellow in the SoulCalibur universe. Algol and Z.W.E.I. have weapons with a yellow aura, the custom character Ellie from Tower of Lost Souls has a yellow cat costume, and then there's Hwang, whose name translates to mean the color yellow, or sulfur, and Hwang also has a theme song from SoulBlade (home release) called Yellow Sands.

hmm well i think we should not be surprised if Yellow turns out to be someone else. Honestly the only one confirmed from codename is Lizardman. Setsuka being snow makes a lot of sense. I only feel she is essentially confirmed due to her being the obvious DLC bait

What do you think about this Season 2?

I definitely like that not going to lie. Is number five john snow? I'm not exactly well aquatinted with what I'm guessing is GoT. The legacy characters are perfect imo. I'm not exactly sure about guests, but Hilde, setsuka and Hwang would make that an auto-buy for me. Everyone else is a bonus.

Geralt and 2B are the only guests we need. Season 2 should be all veterans. Hilde I don’t feel confidence in. Yun-seong I do. Rock and Li Long would round out the veterans so I believe it will be them.

You know in general guests aren't designed to appeal a community but instead it's to bring outsiders. I believe more on Hwang than Yun cause he's the one that we see in the game, Hilde i think she's good chance cause she's super unique. And i don't think Rock will come and even less for Li Long lol

Yeah it's john and both last 2 are from Got lol

I don't even know who's those last 2 guys lmao

Too many guests. Plus I want Yun-seong if not just because I find his win poses hilarious.

Hard to guess which one will come back if they'll ever do Season 2, Hwang or Yun, but i'm going with Hwang since he's the one that appears in the game, i mean i didn't give a lot of importance to that at first, but then you have Amy and Cassie that appears in the game, then they're ending being characters playable to be in the game (Cass not yet confirmed but at this point i think she's Guarantee)

In terms of likability or liklihood? If the latter, I think you're only hitting 50% here. GoT would be a pretty bad idea to try to fuse with Soul Calibur in my opinion, given the differences in tone in how the source material represents action and what is required of a Soul Calibur character in terms of ostentatious displays of stylized game violence and stamina to repeated injury. Also what exactly would Danearys be doing in a fighter? The strength of that character is as a leader, and as someone who can control big f--- off dragons, not as a fighter who is dangerous in her own physicality. Jon snow is a little bit of a better fit, I guess, but still comes from a world where sword thrusts through the midsection or a caved in skull tend to be instantly fatal (even if some sun god priest does bring you back to life later that evening). Beyond that, the licensing issues getting Martin, HBO, and the other game companies which may have priority licensing agreements on these characters all on the same page in relation to an agreement with Namco would be insane. As to Hilde, well the arguments for why she is unlikely have been made at length previously in this thread and you can judge for yourself how compelling they are (personally, I think very compelling, but I try to hold out hope for a third season, in which case I think she'd be a shoe-in.

Nope, I'm afraid I believe the season two picks are exactly who their codenames suggest: Rock, Hwang, Li Long, Lizardman, Yun-seong, and Setsuka. I'd put money on it.

@SSfox The reason I feel Hilde doesn't have a shot is because they have to have something held back for SoulCalibur VII, and to put an arbitrary cutoff point, not that I'm defining it, but as it appears to be defined by the game, stopping with SoulCalibur III seems to be the direction they're leaning towards. SoulCalibur VII can add Hilde, Algol, perhaps Dampierre and his flunkies, along with a couple of new faces such as Grøh or Azwel, stretching forward to SoulCalibur IV timeline events, to give these characters proper structure and narrative relevance, which, like it or not, is a big part of the game's ideology as of right now, and I would think it reasonable to expect that SoulCalibur VII will continue this trend.

As for using who has appeared in the game as an argument, this is valid against Li Long and Rock, since neither actually appeared, but you could say the same of Setsuka and Hilde. They are mentioned (Setsuka only on a technicality, even), but not seen. Another candidate that did appear that no one suggests (not that there's not good reason to not suggest him) is Edge Master. I don't believe Edge Master is one of the six, but I feel like he does warrant an appearance, ideally given as a free DLC, perhaps to cap the end of the first season pass as an unexpected surprise bonus character, considering that he's a mimic and having to pay for a mimic wouldn't look good from any angle. A free mimic, though? They've already got an updated HD model from SoulCalibur V, and his appearance still hasn't changed, so adding him really would be a doddle, if you ask me. Hwang and Aeon are the only two supposed candidates for season two who did appear in the game, with Aeon having one actual fight (as Lesser Lizardman style, of course), while Hwang had none.

It's a complex issue, sure. Look at the discussions we've had for evidence. But the overbearing premise, for now at least, seems to be restricted to cast members of SoulBlade to SoulCalibur III, which is why I can't believe Hilde. Assuming no guests, and we do get Hilde, then the only one left out would be Li Long, in all likelihood, and having one missing character would be such a glaring noninclusion that it couldn't help but attract attention to the fact, so we may as well just have everyone. They could have easily, extremely easily, even, given Li Long a subquest in Libra of Soul like Arthur, and yet they didn't, but still did mention his name. We even got Han-myeong, someone who hasn't appeared as a fighter in-game since SoulBlade itself, as a fight in Libra of Soul. Just something to think about, to potentially up the believability of Li Long's inclusion.

How would Daenerys work as a guest? She doesn't know how to fight by herself. Riding a dragon, yes she is then capable but that's really not going to work in any fighting game, let alone Soul Calibur.

Too many guests for one season pass, also Daenerys can't fight on her own, at least put Brienne of Tarth there instead or Arya if you want a female GoT character.
Hilde, Hwang, Aeon and Setsuka are all good picks, I would much prefer Dante from DMC5 for a guest, but Jon Snow is not a bad choice at all. I would have definitely switched the second guest for another veteran or even a completely new original character.

You made good point about Hilde, they may save her and even others (Yun, Hwang, Lizzy and cie) for the next SC game, but thing is while i believe that SC7 will happen in some futur but it will be in a super long time so not anytime soon. Since SC6 is doing well and being strong competitively they should brought back at least all fan favorites for this game and Hilde is one of them, i don't think this will be an issue for SC7 when happen.

As for Rock and Li Long they're less popular they may be good candidates for SC7 if the demand from the fans will strong enough, but i don't think they'll made it for SC6 (unless there will be season 3 for SC6)

I'm personally down with Li Long, he was my N1 in Soul Edge ^^

Maybe something similar to DMC5's V, that would fit super well Daenerys imo.

I don't know about that. SC4 had Star Wars in it, which is much bigger from GoT, also Negan in Tekken 7 proved TV characters are fair game too.

The Walking Dead is on a downturn, as was Star Wars in 2008. Game of Thrones is on top of the world. Soul Calibur is way beneath GoT at this point in time.

Say if it was possible, do you really think Project Soul/Bamco is going to shell out money for a DLC character from a top tier cable show and an actor's likeness on top of that?

Jon Snow's actor has a salary of 500,000 per episode....he'll show up to be paid by a cash property like Call of Duty...not Soul Calibur.

Tekken getting Negan is an outlier. Tekken is the biggest 3D fighter and one of the top fighters on the market. Soul Calibur is not.
