Soulcalibur VI DLC Discussion Thread

No one else is getting Soul Calibur aside from Xianghua for SoulCalibur VI, since they've gone with canon wielders only. It was cool to get the Soul Calibur and Soul Edge variants for everyone in previous games, but I kind of like folks not getting them, because it makes them feel more special.
I'd just as soon have the variants, but my take on finding the silver lining in their absence takes the form of a pragmatic argument: with the number of weapons per character down a bit, compared to some previous games, I'd just as soon that two extra spots per character were not committed to Soulcalibur and Soul Edge variants, as it would have hurt the overall variety in weapons significantly. I'd really like to see a freebie in one of the last balance patches that gives every style one more weapon, but I know that's beyond unlikely.

I still find it a bit weird that Cassandra got an 8th weapon, but that's just an inconsistency we'll have to live with, I suppose. I'm not complaining, really, since it would be cool if everyone had an 8th, and not just Xianghua and Nightmare, because of their "Soul" sword, but when it was just Xianghua and Nightmare, at least there was a static reason as for a why. With Cassandra, not really so much.

Not really, Cass has pretty much been set up to be one of the most important characters in the new story. Her eighth weapon still has a pretty solid reason behind it. Its Cass' old weapon from the original timeline.

It’s not the same. Cassandra kept the mask, but nothing is said of the sword and shield, so it’s presumed that they faded away with Astral Chaos Cassandra. They exist as a prop for that version of her to use in their dueling, but the actual Cassandra in the present day won’t have those weapons until later, at which point it’s possible that maybe her brain cells start working and she figures out who the masked swordswoman was. It’s a similarish idea, but... I disagree with it being an equivalency.

It's not impossible they'll tease the 2 others characters with a (quite expected) Hao Maru trailer reveal at Evo Japan, since it should be the biggest SC6 event before Evo Vegas, also they may want to release the characters as soon as possible during the tour, that's actually how Tekken Team do it, so if they choose the same path it's likely, of course we need to consider as well if the characters are ready to be release which is a very key aspect.

Some toughs come to mind, actually Setsuka and Tekken's Jun are some of the dopest female characters ever, and can't help but these characters have been treated like sh1t for years by Bamco, like ... WTF, maybe they really not that popular in Japan and Bamco though it was same in the rest of the world? It's not just me but in SC3 days i remember she was one of the favorites in SC3, some players didn't pick her because she was hard and were afreaid about JF stuffs mostly, but really it's like Bamco don't even realize how dope Setsuka is :O

And i'll let this cool fanart here:

It's not exactly like that, I dont think. It is a weapon that Cass has/can/will use. It could just be that since it was used (i think haven't actually played cass soul chronicle, so i havent played the fight.) so why not use it. If i remember correctly, nighty doesn't even use his eighth weapon.

I think if Miser became a playable character in SC VII/VIII ~laughs in never~ she would wear a robe exposing her arm like Setsuka's.. :sc2mit3:
(pls someone with talent draw this for me. xoxo.)

There’s definitely Revenants in Libra of Soul who use Nightmare’s style using that oversized katana. You can’t get it as a drop, I don’t think (just like you can’t get Xianghua’s Soul Calibur, but you can get Nightmare’s Soul Edge, stupidly enough, due to slotting, as the level 60 “ultimate” from the Ancient, just No Name for Xianghua, though...), but all weapons for all styles are used in one way or another I believe. But most often never by the actual wielder, not talking 8ths, but extra weapons in general. I’m not sure what that fact would mean all on its own.

Either way... PLAY CASSANDRA’S SOUL CHRONICLE!!! (Why haven’t you?! :talimcry:) It has best bread boy.

I think Namco should reveal the last 2 characters in EVO Japan and release them quickly for competition purposes.

Obviously Setsuka is one of them (probably fourth) . The only question is who will it be between Hwang and Rock.

The last slot could be anyone really (maybe not the SCV characters) considering there is still a lot of veterans to go. Rock, Hwang, Yun-Seong, Aeon/Lizardman, Dampierre, Algol, Li Long, and even Edge Master. If Hilde was able to make it, I’m sure any of these can as well.

Nah, I don't think Yunsung will show in this game in playable form. It will be Hwang.

And Edgemaster is a given. Probably by the end of Season 2.

Speaking of Edgemaster, I would love to read his story bits. He's pretty mysterious still and his rivalry with Olcadan would be a nice touch.

If support continues past season 2 then I expect both in SC6 which is great because I've long dreamed of having all legacy characters in a modern Calibur game. It's not just about playing more characters it's also about facing against more characters plus if all of them are in SC6 then there's a higher chance that all of them will be in SC7 with more resources going in towards more and better backgrounds.

I'm getting the impression that this season pass is being delivered faster than the first one, I'm sure there will be a third season and I highly doubt that I will announce a SC 7 in 2021/2022.

I was wondering what they are going to do with Lizardman, they are really going to pretend that it is just a bug from Libra of Soul. The way Aeon was discarded was so sad. :sc1liz1:

no way we are getting yun and hwang lul. I dont see why they would ever bring back hwang. So if anyone at all, maybe yun, but then again there are still better characters left they could put in before him.

All that’s left for serious consideration are Rock, Hwang, Aeon, Yun-seong, and Setsuka. Setsuka seems a foregone conclusion, but you’re saying that Rock or Aeon would be a better choice than either Korean boy?
