Of course you love the fish people: you are poissonitvely HOOKED on them as a concept!Magni-fish broken soul wow !
A lot of the alt races do indeed provide particular challenges in terms of a dearth of options. But they do have their niche applications. I'd say if this is your first effort in that vein, you are off to a good start!
<3
Regarding the missing eyes, with Sonya I used a black-with-the-slightest-tinge-of-red apple (later a sphere) to create the impression of darkened negative space behind the eye, which I suspect you did with Galina as well, looking at the somewhat similar apperance.
I actually think it was just pure black. xD I kept it pretty simple with the knowledge that she wasn't human, so it's just a black hole, hah.
I like the effect although I've never got it to pop quite as much as I like, and I went back and forth on using it, since it consumes an object in a build that demands a lot of them (so I have to omit grimoire/necronomicon if I want to accommodate both the missing eye and the teeth exposed by the decaying cheek). But I like the overall concept that his one side is decaying away slightly faster than the other.
Oh, so was the ExEq Emil's smiling head? If so that's pretty cool, I always wondered how folk were doing teeth like that without using horns.

I'm getting some Lovecraftian fish men vibes here, very cool!
I noticed that. Another surfacing detail I liked was the pattern you used to give the impressions of a braided metal gilded imprint on the key, the kind of ornate detail you would expect on a wind-up doll device of a certain era.
Yes, no modern machined metal here! ^^
@NitricZenith: I am of course happy to delete the images int he spoiler box above, if you'd rather preserve this thread exclusively for your own images. I don't want to get carried away with shop talk and step on your toes regarding your presentation here.
Heh, the 'what' of it is that you gave Vil an excuse to enjoy two of his favourite things: monster-people creations and wordplay. :DI do wonder what exactly is happening on page 2, but I appreciate the fact that there is activity in here either way, haha!
You merely copy and paste the quote tags (that are automatically produced when you utilize the quote or reply functions) before and after each segment you wish to individually quote. It's been a while since I've used forum code and couldn't remember how to quote parts rather than everything in this instance, I've bolded and italicised the text instead to make it readable, sorry about that!
Yes, fore sure: I only added the slightest (maybe not even consciously detectable in the reality of the game) tinge of red to suggest the nature of the, uh, cavity. It's a pity that any break that will break the eyepatch will break the object creating the impression of negative space, though there may be some clever work-arounds for that now that there are breakable/unbreakable zones with independent toggles now. But yeah, black definitely the right call in your case--I only meant that it seemed like you were using the... "sphere method", shall we call it?I actually think it was just pure black. xD I kept it pretty simple with the knowledge that she wasn't human, so it's just a black hole, hah.
That was Plan A, but as it happens (with that particular model anyway), you can't shrink that robot head enough to get it to work right without deforming the face, while also positioning the teeth appropriately. I explored working with that limitation but nothing was looking right, so I abandoned the Emil's approach altogether and ultimately created the impression of 3D teeth through careful positioning of the brims of the maid headgear (I forget the actual name of the ExEq, and the name of the garment itself, but you know, those frilly doilie bonnets). With enough patience and working exhaustively to test many permutations of the angle and size while working with/adjusting as necessary the facial deformities, I got to a place such that the implication-by-pattern of pealed-away flesh allows those outer edges, when combined, to look like teeth exposed by the decaying face.Oh, so was the ExEq Emil's smiling head? If so that's pretty cool, I always wondered how folk were doing teeth like that without using horns.
Vil is actually a secret prophet of the Deep Ones, sent to sow apocalyptic anarchy one brow-aching pun at a time. But he also takes time to dabble in being one of the most accomplished CaSers in the extended community--and a charming conversationalist in any language--so we overlook his dedication to twisting bon mots into dark sorcery meant to bring about the harvesting of our lives by the Old Gods.I'm getting some Lovecraftian fish men vibes here, very cool!
Baby Cthulhu?Yet mes mots d'esprit pale in comparison to your command of the english language, man i really enjoyed reading that panegyric (dithyrambe in french) ... right now i have zero inspiration for CAS so i draw and joke a lot instead :) buuuuut you might have given me an idea...
Ah, as community liaison on r/soulcaliburcreations I'm always looking to try to help people to enjoy being in the community. =)Heh, the 'what' of it is that you gave Vil an excuse to enjoy two of his favourite things: monster-people creations and wordplay. :D
Got it, thanks! You merely copy and paste the quote tags (that are automatically produced when you utilize the quote or reply functions) before and after each segment you wish to individually quote.
I guess it's better than calling it the "brutally shoving an apple into the eye socket" method, that's for sure. xDI only meant that it seemed like you were using the... "sphere method", shall we call it?
Yeah I actually experimented with this recently, it doesn't appear to work effectively unless you actually want a chunky lower face on your CaS, as you said. =/you can't shrink that robot head enough to get it to work right without deforming the face, while also positioning the teeth appropriately.
Hmm, I tried but I don't think I'm even close to figuring that out quite yet, I create mostly female CaS so I figure I'll run into a few extra problems with heads being somewhat smaller, I'll definitely look again in the future, though.created the impression of 3D teeth through careful positioning of the brims of the maid headgear
Y'know, I'm the biggest horror fan, haha! Although admittedly most of my spooky creations are a little bit more wholesome than straight up nightmare fuel, don't ever feel your tastes aren't valid though, nobody's judging, just keep painting with many diverse colours, if you enjoy it and are having fun with it, that's all that matters. Also, on that note, expect me to start flooding this thread with my own Halloween CaS pretty soon. xDI know--it's all very morbid, isn't it? The ironic thing is that I'm not a big fan of the horror genre and/or gore aesthetic, as a general matter--find it all a bit hokey, tacky, and uninspired--but sometimes a design just takes you there.
Oh, Azwel is a total bull-poop cheese fest...he's a useful bull-poop cheese fest, though!wizardly of the movesets are a bit of a target of criticism from yours truly on the gameplay side of things
Vil makes some really, really cool, unusual stuff for sure from what I've seen thus far, plus he's been very welcoming towards my joining here, which is wonderful because I was half expecting to be shouted down by a bunch of mega egos, (I don't do that, I'm always super humble) so thanks guys, you're some really good peeps! <3But he also takes time to dabble in being one of the most accomplished CaSers in the extended community--and a charming conversationalist in any language--so we overlook his dedication to twisting bon mots into dark sorcery meant to bring about the harvesting of our lives by the Old Gods.
Thank you kindly! <3 yours is definitely a gallery I must visit soon, I've seen some really cool things from you during my time active in the CaS scene. =)i like Medusa, Kiyo and the doll, the latter two in particular
Thank you kindly - it's my favourite time of the year and favourite season, too! <3Love the whimsy of your halloween creations.
