I don't know if this is off topic or not and I am not trying to be offensive but my god this is the most questionable win I have ever seen. I agree with Krazyie here especially because of the two vids posted by KDZ with the Ivy and Setsuka matches.

Again i'm not trying to be offensive but from what I can tell there doesn't really seem to be inexperience in those vids. I can see both the Setsuka and Ivy players interrupting KDZ's Maxi in certain strings where Maxi can be interrupted. Yet in those same matches both the Ivy and Setsuka players get caught by the most basic Maxi tools.

This begs the question for me still somewhat of a newcomer to this community.....

Where are the best players in this game. The level of high level play in this game seems to be alot less intact than say any other fighting game like Tekken, SF, Blaz Blue, Guilty Gear, etc.

This is an honest question seeing how at when I attended NEC the quality of play was much different from what I have been seeing lately. Canada is strong, ATL is strong, I really wanna play Krayzie and Motempest offline etc. because I believe Cali is strong from the vids I have seen. People like Thugish-Pond strong.

Is it just me (asking top level players) or based on this Maxi win and vids are these players of lesser quality in terms of high level play.

I know this is gonna piss some people off but it's an honest question from the perspective of high level players.

just because you are a good player does not necessarily mean you are an expert at anti-Maxi

Yeah I understand that.

Honestly I was even hesitant to aske the question because it kind of offends the skill level of those from this region but my god when u look at those vids and the turn out with Maxi as the winner and u break it down. Those players knew how to interrupt his strings which shows they know at least to some extent how to fight him while the really weird part is they kept loosing to basic stuff.

For example my vids vs. ATL_R3dd I didn't know where to interrupt his strings etc. yet still manage to better out space him etc. and fight efficiently. Now i'm even more informed after tips from Krayzie which propelled me to go to training vs. him and I honestly now well informed believe Krayzie that u cannot lose to Maxi. Maxi really is that trash.

Lately prepping for Nationals etc. I have thouroughly went to practice against pretty much the whole cast of characters now and it's fairly easy to tell what characters can compete and who can't.

Maxi cannot compete.

nice warble wins again.

something_unique...lets just say i doubt KDZ had any difficulty at all winning this tourny, as he has won far larger ones with far crazier competition. it isn't hard to beat maxi. it is very hard to beat KDZ though. i doubt he was even challenged at all or he would have used someone else.

I cannot speak for every one, but a good portion of MA players don't play as often (as in, maybe once a week) as people like KDZ and crew, so we don't see as much/play as competitively.

Sometimes the person will beat you before the character will. Some will sit next to KDZ and figure they have already lost but will just try. Probably sit next to his Maxi and think he's gonna do some crazy shit. . . there are a lot of factors but like everyone says, " A win is a Win"

Hmmm makes sense to some extent. It's obvious that based on how things turned out at this tournament there really is a great level of difference in comparison to KDZ vs. the other players that were in this event.

However i'm curious to see how large the gap is because somehow I believe even considering KDZ level vs. those here and based on the vids it seems to be huge.

Hopefully when I get a job again seeing how I got laid off and money is tight I can go see for myself because most importantly based on the vids there is nothing in their that screams better spacing, defense, GI'ing, etc. It just seems really weird.

Ok now this seems to make it a little more understandable.

Ha that actually makes sense to.

fella's... realize this very important note..the vids that were capped aren't of the best(or higher/highest level comp) in NE(no offense to the players of course, we are a community) its a group of players that recorded the vids of their(group) of NE players, but after the tourney was said and done, some of those higher leveled players challenged the 1st and 2nd place winners(which they used the same characters of course) and the tides changed drastically as both players with the character they used afterwards made all the difference.

I myself played more to have fun that day and tried other characters to see where they can stand in a match up and things like that.. and didn't go with my mains of choice.

Not to mentioned not ALL of the NE area players showed up, so it shows/proves nothing at all if you look at it in that respective perspective....

KDZ is a great player and ya cant take that away from him period!..but with a bit of luck yes he won using maxi( i feel this was a one time ONLY thing with maxi)..but hey, a win is a win.. but if anyone thinks they gonna roll this way and try to get by winning with maxi.. again..well, they got another thing comin'!..and i'll make sure of it.

damn...why does everyone hate maxi so much.

just cause hes wide open all the time, his only throw game is out of psls, cant step for shit and his lows suck.

i dont get it.....lol

Hot_Rod: lol, no hate on maxi i assure you, i used to use him a bit in SC2, but he will be exploited next time around...but he is def fun to use.

i think KDZ can and will win with maxi again...unless NYC shows up...but if not...its gonna happen again

Sometimes the person will beat you before the character will.

I get the impression that it's what happened...
If they hadn't known who was playing Maxi, if they had thought that it was just some random button mashing scrub, they would have slaughtered him.

I'm not trying to insult KDZ... ...I insult his Maxi.
What a disappointment... He didn't do anything out of the ordinary. He did nothing as a player. He just learned a few simple strings, a few moves, learned how to PSL randomly to impress the masses that can't tell a button masher from a good Maxi player, practised for 5 hours, and then his NAME (and reputation) alone did the rest.
The character indeed did not win. But the player did not win either. The name did.

(Ivy vs. Maxi, 0:31. He shows to everyone that he's a generic button masher.)

It's not a special day for Maxi players. It's a spit in the face. Now people have even more of a reason to call us button mashers.

You sir are either an idiot or are incredibly uninformed. KDZ has been playing Maxi since the beginning of SC3. Maxi used to be his main before he picked up Cass. Please refrain from commenting when you have no idea what you're talking about.

KDZ won with another character guys! Everyone determined that the character shit, so why wasn't everyone prepared for it? Are you mad, because now he's won something with bottom tier as well as top tier? I don't know if he won because you all scrubbed out or he play brilliantly, but it doesn't matter unless you're just REALLY out to prove you're superior to "Phil's MAXI." I know no one wants to simply accept that the guy is good enough to beat most people with any character he wants at this point so everyone can just keep debating this. If Maxi is so bad, and everyone knows it then stop losing to it.

This isn't aimed at NE, its aimed at everyone. PLZ don't get butthurt too much.

wow. i guess you cant please everybody. a wins a win in my book!! Blame the other ivy and setsuka player for not having a maxi defense then. dont blame the (as you quote) "scrubby button masher"! if i can get a win at a tourney by "button mashing" only, then let the mashing begin!! why pull out your tougher tricks when you dont need to. a ninja never reveals all of his arsenal. How corny was that ninja reference, but you get the idea. Ive never played KDZ nor do I think Ill ever get then chance to play a higher level player like KDZ but give props where props are due man!

EDIT: looks like rigel and I posted at the same time bout the same thing. Good shit rigel!! very well put

Wow Maxi hate will never die. Let KDZ have his win. Thread close by request.
