2009 NFL thread

I posted a huge rant on this already but I'll toss it in here because I'm bored waiting for the cable company to show up.

The Bills monumentally epic fail last night points directly to a lack of strong leadership in the coaching staff. While McElvin was the one who dropped the ball, his comments after the game were what concerned me more. While Donte Whitner was overcome with frustration and emotion to the point of crying publicly, McElvin was "already past it" and "would do the same thing again" saying shit like "yeah I know ball control, I'll work on it and move on." His tone, his words all suggest that he was taking very little personal responsibility, or at least didn't understand the gravity of the situation he just caused.

All of this stems from weak leadership from their pussy head coach, Dick Jauron. Of all the moves they made or didn't make in the offseason, the WORST was keeping him on as head coach. There is a culture of losing in that team right now that is being perpetuated because the head coach is a pussy ass bitch, who can't coach at the NFL level. His incompetence and weak leadership overshadowed what was actually some really decent playcalling by an offensive coordinator that was hired 10 days ago, an inexperienced O-line that I've trashed nonstop since the preseason opener but actually played pretty well, and 3 1/2 of a game's worth of pretty okish football. Nothing earth shattering, the Pats looked pretty bad, but decent.

With all of that, their culture of losing is what caused them to finish that game the way they did. Which reflects directly on the head coach. If they don't fire Jauron TODAY, they're making a huge mistake. 7-9 is a best case scenario for them as long as Jauron is the head of this team, I think 4-12 is more likely at this point, they can probably beat Tampa, Cleveland, Kansas City and maybe pull off a home game against Miami, or a win against someone like Carolina, provided Delhomme is still throwing picks wholesale lol. I can't see them finishing any better than 1-7 in the division, the Pats will shit on their faces when they come to town, the Jets D looks fucking LEGIT, they'll lose both games to them too. Everyone else, a lot of those games look winnable on paper, but the weak leadership will keep them from winning those games, they may be competitive for most of the game, but in the end the culture of losing instilled in this team by their pussy ass bitch head coach will make them lose a TON of winnable games, until he's fired.

In short, fire Jauron immediately. It's really already too late, they'd just be stopping the bleeding at this point.

I really think the Bills did a lot better than expected against the Pats all around last night. I mean, Brady has always been huge in the last quarters and I'm suprised that it was even that close to begin with.

In a close game like that, it all comes down to coaching and obviously Bill Belichick is a far superior coach than Dick Jauron. I was surprised the Pats didn't blow the Bills out of the water right from the beginning.

I'd say if you want to look at what a difference coaching makes, look at the Niners beating the Cards Sunday. If Mike Nolan were still coaching, that would be a loss. Maybe it's still too early to say it, but Mike Singletary is doing with the same personnel that no one else has done since Steve Mariucci left -- win.

I predict the Eagles will come out with a win against the Saints this weekend even with Kevin Kolb starting. This will be a great opportunity for Kevin Kolb to prove himself because he actually get to work with the first string offense team during training and should be prepared this time. And the Saints are getting annoying, people are starting to think Drew Brees is god because he thrown six touchdown against the Lions, lmao. I can't wait till sunday, I can guaranteed he will not get 6 touchdowns against the Eagles. If the Saints were to lose to the Eagles with Kevin Kolb playing most of next sunday's game, that would shut people up about Drew Brees and the Saints. I can't wait.

Wall of q_q, waaahhh, fire Jauron

Relax, it's a loss against the Patriots. If this was a loss against the Lions, or completely blown out by the Pats, then I would fire Jauron and would start crying. But there is no point in firing him now because who are you going to bring in now at this point? You need to start fresh with someone new at the beginning of the season unless the wheels fall completely off.

It was a loss on the road against the Pats, but that game was a measuring stick to see if the Bills are legitimate. It's a long season and things to turn around unless the team is void of leadership. And once you get in the playoffs, it's 0-0. And T.O. hasn't blown up yet, so take a breather. They lost by 1 point.

As for the Eagles, I am not worried about Drew Brees. He's not god for throwing 6 TDs against the Lions. The last time we played the Lions, we scored over 50 points on them. That smackdown was more embarassing than the ugly throwback jerseys we had on that day. But Sean Payton has me more worried than anything because he knows how to beat the Eagles.

And Vick has now been activated. Aww snap.

that would shut people up about Drew Brees and the Saints. I can't wait.

Yeah the 2008 offensive player of the year sucks... Brees is overated. Pfft.

Of course he threw 6 TDs against the lions, he's a fucking beast, he throws an average of 643 passes per season. Last season he AVERAGED OVER 300 PASSING YARDS A GAME. Over the past three seasons he's thrown 88 TD passes, 1 behind Peyton Manning.

But yeah, he sucks.

Brees puts up great numbers during the season, but what have the teams that he's been on do in the playoffs? Nuffin. And last year he threw for over 5,000 yards on an 8-8 team. FAIL.

You need a team to win in the NFL. If you can't run the rock or play D, you ain't going anywhere. If NO can't run against the Eagles and we get pressure on Brees, it's going to be a long day for him. Our defense ain't no joke.

Eagles have no safeties. If NO can get any type of run game going, Brees will have a big game. Gonna be a fun one to watch for sure.

Thanks Freaky, I only log on at work... so I can't defend myself after 5 PM central, lol. Last season was not good overall for NO, I agree. But, we were plauged with injuries as well.

I wouldn't count on the Eagles having a walk in the park... but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a close game, we are still missing some key elements that would make NO unstoppable.

Our safeties are fine. Plus you won't have to worry about them if Brees is on his back all day long. That pressure is going to be in his ass all day.

Westbrook and McCoy gonna tear up NO's defense. Nuff said.

Since when has NO had a strong D? I mean, this is my team but you gotta brush up. Like Freaky said, if NO can get any kind of run game going, it's going to be a scoring shoot-out. That is how NO plays, not to say I particularly like it, but they haven't had the time or tools to build a great defense while they are working on putting together a very strong offense. I'm giving it time.

With or without McNabb. Westbrook, McCoy, Weaver, and Action Jackson is gonna fuck up any scrub in their way this sunday. And as for Drew Brees, Astante and Sheldon will pick his ass off (not as many times as they did to Jake, but still he will suffer) and the D will roll on him. Hell, it would be funny if Brees get injuried by the end of this game.

I love the fans that can only see their team as WE GONNA WIN WE GONNA WIN, and just brush off the fact that their starting QB is gone. I hope NO blows them out of the fucking water... and I'll be here posting my ass off.

Of course I'm not as close-minded as you to expect a win... so we'll just see what happens. I will say this though, Drew is going to be fine.

Hey man, hes an Eagles fan, you gotta expect that :P. They are a great team but the second week is critical for momentum. The Eagles have to win fullstop, the NFC east will not wait for any team which slips up.

If NO beats the Eagles, NO have a great possibility of winning that division and possibly more than that. Their offense looks extremely strong this year and could carry them to great things. But everything hinges on Brees and him staying healthy (and playing well).

Fans should be able to discuss actual football topics, not just list off players and be like WE DA BEST SON HYPERAPEHYPE! Kolb played ok in the last preseason game, but he's not McNabb. He's not even rusty ass Vick. He's Kevin fucking Kolb. NO has a good shot to take this, Kolb will probably get reps with the first team offense all week, but that may not be enough to get fully in synch. And while NO's defense isn't the best, it's still an NFL defense. Meanwhile their offense is moving along perfectly fine, even if it was against the Lions. You can't discount the kind of momentum you get from a game like that, Brees has got his entire team in synch.

Could be a lower scoring game than people think, Eagles won't give up 6 touchdowns, but I don't know how many they can score on offense, either. I'm sure the game will eventually come down to how they handle Westbrook, it always seems to go that way lol. In the end I think the Eagles will win if they can slow the game down, but if it's a shootout NO will probably take it by two scores.
