2009 NFL thread

The Redskins deserve to lose this weekend. They squeaked past the Rams 9-7. They got booed out of the stadium after a WIN! The fan's are getting frustrated with the way Snyder has turned this franchise into a pit stop where former marquee players come to grab a check before retirement. He has delivered a mediocre product at best for the last 10 years because he wants to control everything, yet has no knowledge of football.

Kenny Philips is down for the year. Could be career threatening. Just as he had his best game as a pro. What a shame.

Whether or not the Redskins deserved booing, it seems to me that if you're unhappy with a very mediocre product, a better idea would be to just boycott them. Paying 80 dollars/ticket + concessions to go boo a team for only caring about money doesn't seem like the best strategy.

Vick = Talented = Speed = Wildcat = Unstopable = Super Bowl.

You have got to be joking... how about you tone it down a bit? Do you want to be embarassed like last week again when NO handled the Eagles 48-22, after talking all that shit without any knowledge to back it up. Didn't that teach you a lesson about being a bit humble? URRR DURRRR EAGLES WINNERZ HERRR DURRR

Apparently not.

No, I am not joking dipshit, big deal one lost, oh no the season is over for the Eagles... NOT. You realize that the Eagles only lost that game do to that stupid fumble by Hobbs right? Because of that fumble it turn the momentum around. From there it got fucked up. The Eagles is still much better team than the Saints. If McNabb/Vick was playing during the Saints game, yall would have lost. Regardless how good Drew Brees is, he is only one man. The Saints not going to be hot for long, watch and see, its going to be just like the last 2 years for them, DISAPPOINTMENT. They ain't going nowhere. Besides the Eagles always start slow, but after a big loss, they are fired up. So don't think because of one lost, the Saints are better than the Eagles. Trust me, the Eagles will go further than the Saints this season. You got to be stupid to think other whys. Besides stop being on Drew Brees' dick. I know he is good, but he not going to take the Saints to the Super bowl. Be realistic here. Eagles >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Saints.

When you lose by double digits, it's never the result of a single play, momentum or otherwise. Two weeks into the season, the Saints are playing MUCH better than the Eagles. Since it's early, that could change, but you have nothing to base your claim that the Eagles are that much better than the Saints, other than being from Philly and having previously admitted to having a small dick on the internet. (unrelated premise but worth noting)

Try this. The Giants are known to have a strong defense and running game, and are generally perceived by current football media experts to be the #1 team in the NFC East. While they've put up good numbers in the passing game, going against preseason concerns of a perceived weakness, their running game looked subpar against the Cowboys, as did their run defense, two points of pride from years past. Also, injuries to a young but talented secondary could be long term concerns, although they haven't proven to be against the Redskins or Cowboys. Looking long term, I have reason to believe these issues can be fixed due to a strong, disciplined approach by the coaching staff, and a series of weaker opponents over the next few weeks that will allow the Giants to work out some of the problems they've been having so far. This will also give Manning time to build chemistry with Steve Smith and Mario Manningham, who have played well through the first two games.

See what I did there? Probably not, but it's worth a shot.

Wall of txt, still doesn't get it.

Thank you Kowtow, this is an NFL discussion thread. God forbid you would back up anything you say, so it could lead to an ACTUAL discussion.

Don't just troll the thread with EAGLEZ RULZ and hope to get any decent response. It's clutter.

Next...

Vick = Talented = Speed = Wildcat = Unstopable = Super Bowl.

And I'm on Drew Brees' dick? Ok buddy.

You can send any response to me via PM so we don't have a pissing contest all over a decent thread.

Week 3... awww, shit. It's time to start separating the contenders from the pretenders.

Niners have a tough test on the road against the Vikings. Defense did well against Adrian Peterson last year, holding him to 3 yards on 14 carries in 2007. But that was in SF, now the game's in the Metrodome, a whole different beast. If the Niners want to make the case for being a legit team, this is the first step. I hope Frank Gore can bring that juice like he did against Seattle. And that Brett Favre will start thinking lobbing 60-yard bombs into double coverage is a good idea again.

I'm telling you, if you want to run the Wildcat, look at what the Fins are doing. They're doing that shit right.

Also worth noting in a recent interview I read on ESPN, Vick talked about the similar formations they ran in 06 with the Falcons. Said it wore out it's usefulness about halfway through the season. In most cases, the Wildcat is a good gadget formation for 5 yard runs, and that's it. And the entire LEAGUE is on Wildcat alert after Miami's success last season, especially so for Vick. AND his legs aren't where they used to be.

But yeah whatever, Wildcat = Supar Bowl.

I'm picking games on ESPN.com, and I picked the Niners over the Vikings. Which is hilarious because I have AP on my fantasy team lol. I'm also taking a risk and starting Trent Edwards against the Saints, as opposed to Warner vs the Colts. Colts pass defense has looked strong, but they haven't played against Fitz and Boldin yet obviously, while the Saints corners have to deal with Evans and Owens. They won't be able to handle it, and with the way the Saints put up points, and Van Pelt's strong playcalling so far this season, I think the Bills will put up some points. Just not enough to win. X-factor could be the weather, supposed to rain tomorrow night into Sunday, but into the 4pm game is anyone's guess.

Interesting stat on the Bills too, I'm pretty sure their D leads the league in least yards allowed after catches. One of those games was against Tampa Bay, but hey can't knock it.

RE the passing game with Colts vs. Cards... I think they'll be giving Warner fits too. However, I'm hoping Beanie Wells does a lot of big yardage gains AND holds onto the ball. That might help keep the defense honest. I'm also a little scared of what Peyton Manning's gonna do to our defense. One of our better linebackers tweeted this week something along the lines of, "so I'm looking at footage of Peyton Manning carving up defenses like butter... holy shit we've got our work cut out for us."

Yeah we're strong right now, but the injuries are proving to be a worry If we can get healthier, we should be strong due to the strong coaching staff and solid talent across the board. I believe we can fix the current run defense and running game this week however, losing KP for the year is a huge blow, one which i was not expecting at all.

Man that niners loss on that Favre pass with 2 seconds left killed me. That was the toughest loss we've had in a while.

Holy shit the Lions won.

Lol damnit, right when I was anticipating the Lions-Rams game to be an epic game of winless teams, the Lions go and ruin it.

Go turn on this Bills Saints game you will shit yourself at the score I'm serious. Bills radio crew is just like "How do you figure this game?" and they're right, pretty much all you can say lol.

EDIT: Oh nvm guys there they go, lol. I was wondering if they'd end this whole game 10-7.

I thought the Niners were going to win..best pass from Favre

Niners had that game won... but, that's exactly why the Vikings brought Brett Favre in. Imagine if that were Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels. Still if the Niners had made that 3rd and 6 going the other way with a little over a minute to go. I'm surprised they were able to hang around despite their best offensive weapon, Frank Gore, gone for the whole game and the rushing attack with him.

Washington bails out Detroit again. lol Who will pick up the torch for the "perfect" season? Cleveland? St. Louis? Washington? I pick Cleveland.
