AstralHeat.com WTF?!?

My problem with TZ is that it akes 49 seconds to load the forum index.

I haven't been to TZ for years, it still does that shit?

AH looks ace, I thought dustloop was kind of annoying, and SRK just has a subforum.

Hey, the dota community is pretty tough to get into. Can we have a dota site?

OH WAIT JAXEL IS JEALOUS OF DOTA NEVERMIND.

<3

Tekken Zaibatsu is mean to new people? If you think THEY are mean, don't EVER post on shoryuken.com. They will tear your asshole out for telling somebody happy birthday. You can't be sensitive when you go to a new game forum. I think the new site was a great idea. Dustloop to me seems pretty unorganized and at least w/the new site, I know a good majority that are going to play it.

What you guys are missing is it didn't cost you a dime. It's completely free. You are acting like you had a vacant lot next to you that like you to stare at in your pajamas and now that somebody moved in, you're pissed. If you don't feel a need for it, don't go there. It's the same concept as porn. If you don't like it, don't watch it. I can't believe a thread was created when a few people went out of their way to try and help the community FOR FREE! Only the SC community would be sad enough to bitch about nothing

So the other day I'm visiting this site and I try to close a window like normal then i get this: "Are you sure you wish to navigate away from this site?" What the hell? So I know better than to click on this thing. I click the x on the window and it pops up again. Ooookay. That's bad I think. I'll just open up task manager and close firefox by force.

Beautiful. But when this tab tried to close 50 thousand pop up windows came up. I pull the plug on my computer because it's just pointless to issue close commands. My homepage was set by one of these windows to some shitty site that sells watches. I noticed that right before this happened that the site got some new advertisers, good I thought, more advertisers more revenue, more diverse sources of revenue. I guess Jaxel's been really hustling. A few days later i get the hijack on closing an 8way page, now I'm getting full page ads. So I think maybe Jaxel has put on a different hat and become business Jaxel. Maybe another website could also support ads, maybe those ads could generate more revenue, maybe Jaxel could work from home? Maybe you figure "Shit I already beat one site, let's go for two and build up the Jaxel network!" Honestly, you don't need another BB site. You're going to fracture the bb community, one which arc highly respects. It seems to me this might be about your ego. If it's all about Jaxel then by all means Jaxel, leave the site up. It's not like you're not allowed to have some ambition right? But let's not pretend this is about supporting a community that doesn't need your help.

I have never had a problem with tekken zaibatsu that was just an example of what I have read here. I also don't see how dustloop is unorganized. I have gone there often, and I have never had problems finding anything. On your second paragraph you act like it is nothing but it is the same as the little war between Caliburforums and 8way, it divides the community. Except in this case you have an excellent site, and then you have someone completely new to the game come in and say your site sucks let's make a new one.

Yes, because 8wayrun and caliburforum REALLY divided the community right? How long did that "war" last, a month? 2 at most? Then, everybody came here. I still have PMs from players saying they will "never be caught dead" on this site from caliburforum and magically, they showed up like everybody else. People still found their ways to tournaments.

If the community "breaks" it's not because of a forum, it's the community itself. Yes, it's a pain in the ass getting everybody to move to one site, but the fact is, the blazblue thread was CLUTTERED w/bullshit. Flashchat, since the game came out, is dominated by BlazBlue. And that's great that there are so many people interested in it. So now if you want to talk about and find SC players you already know and are comfortable w/, you go to a site that cost you NOTHING! Me for example, I can go to the Hakumen thread and talk to other SC players and ask questions. Dustloop/SRK, I'll get my head bitten off for not knowing every frame and detail of the char before I speak.

If you are happy w/Dustloop, stay there. Nobody ever said you can't post there or view their forums. As for me, I'd rather deal w/people I know than strangers, if I have a choice.

There is a big difference there. Caliburforums was a shitty site that is why it didn't last. I've got another surprise for you, Flashchat is still BB central. I guess AH didn't help that. A sub forum or social group would work fine if all you wanted was to BB it with all your SCIV pals, but that is obviously not it. That is why Jaxel went and advertised his site on dustloop. Besides that crap about not knowing frames or what not in dustloop isn't not even close to as bad as people like to make it out to be. I have seen our threads here on 8way treat new people far worse than anything I have ever seen on dustloop.

It's not about ego. Jay was asked to make a BB site and he made one.

How come no one else is hating on the other BB sites that are on the web? I don't see anyone complaining about them or about how they are splitting the community.

Flashchat has been mostly BB centric because the game just came out plus the cost of having a separate javachat for the site. If there is enough support, there will be a separate one for AH. And the site is not going to fracture any communities. Right now it's mostly SC players now playing BB. And it's not like the members of Dustloop are going to all of a sudden abandon their site for AH so relax.

Some of the logic in this thread is pretty saddening.

I can't say much for TZ since I've never been there, but I really don't mind Dustloop or SRK. I'm a fairly new poster on those sites and I'm NOT being shunned. The only reason they would be a dick to you is if you posted something stupid. Thing is, that rule applies to every forum, even this one.

Granted, I think Dustloop has a better more friendly community than SRK. The load of "09er" insults are getting tiresome. However, considering how many stupid threads get made by 09 members, I can't really blame them, lol.

I don't know what the fuck some of you are talking about TZ being hard to use, uninviting, etc. TZ is an awesome site with lots of info and is put together perfectly. Info on that site is so easy to find, it's dummy proof. Moving on:

AH shouldn't conflict with Dustloop at all. That's just stupid. What AH should focus on is being noob friendly. Ex: I'm a fairly solid Hakumen player so far, but I have issues with certain character match ups, i.e. The top three, and Noel. I should be able to post a noobish question like "how the hell you fight Noel?" and not be chastised for it. I hate when people blow up online at someone just cause they asked a simple question. It turns people away when someone belittles them online just cause they asked what a veteran player would think is a "stupid" question.

I should be able to post a noobish question like "how the hell you fight Noel?" and not be chastised for it.

Or you could simply read the thread they have dedicated to that match up and ask anymore questions if you have any.

Dustloop sure is full of assholes. I mean, just look at this thread here [/sarcasm]. :/

I think it's obvious that AH wasn't "needed". But it's already up, and I'm just wondering whether it will be relevant to anyone outside of 8wr users and a few random stragglers.

Idc either way. If this is a bad move for the site(s), then Jaxel has to pay for his action. If this is a good move, then Jaxel gets the benefits. It's his risk/reward; nuff said.

That's what I was basically saying, its just people are hard headed, see a thread, and just post in it without looking first.

See, you had to be an asshole, didn't ya?

jk

I think most 8wayrun'ers first reaction upon going there is "wtf".

I don't care for the game or that site, but having it be an exact copy of this site is kinda lame. It makes this site lose its originality.

And these were my thoughts exactly. lol

Good luck with the site, Jaxel.

I haven't had any problem finding what I needed on Dustloop, and I haven't seen many jerks, if I've even seen one I'm not sure. The community is in place, the website works fine, and people know where to go. I just hope we don't see another community split on this.

haven't posted before but I follow what goes on. Personally I kind of felt like the new site was unnecessary. It pretty much caters to 8wayrun members. Sure it's nice to talk about the game with people of this site whom you already know but a BB group would have been sufficient for that. That's what was done with street fighter IV. Now SRK is just as easy to navigate as dustloop but no new site was created because that site was too dominate. Now 8wayrun has one of the best setups especially with RSVP'ing for tournaments, online tournaments, flash chat, video section. But just because the 8wayrun setup is superior to pretty much any other setup doesn't mean that all inferior sites should follow the 8wayrun way. Helping them have it for themselves would be better but this seems a little hostile and will only bring hostility towards SC players. And really the "Our fighting game is better than yours, 2D better than 3D" arguments are tiresome as it is, this would only further the problem and direct all the negativity to SC.

I went over and read the thread on dustloop and the general opinion was to not make the new site. SO I'm not sure where the "massive support" came from. If it was from posts and PM's on this site, like I mentioned before it caters to this site therefore those opinions are biased. I even like the AH site cause I'm used to this site but I still can't help wondering if it's right. Was there massive support from players on dustloop through PM's? And were these members who've had an account for atleast a few months? Cause it's easy for an army of new people to dislike a site setup or "attitude" if they are new and haven't yet discovered the way things work. I didn't like the old SC site and attitudes of players until I got used to it. Just my 2 cents.
