I agree. It doesn't suit him very well at all, he looks so out of place in it.
 
They need to show some love to the male characters with the clothing DLC. Leifang basically has her entire fucking closet while my poor Elliot has like three costumes.

Smooth Criminal Bass and Mila Cosplaying as Bass are the two main reasons I'm buying the new DLC.

The Jann Lee and Tina outfits aren't bad either.

Now give me a viking Bass and Valkyrie Tina/Mila and I'll be set. Oh, and Zack also needs a smooth criminal outfit, for his taunts alone.
 
i still don't see much point in getting these packs when no one else that hasn't bought them can see them online. it's like SC5. i bought the extra content so i could see and and show it off to other people. so my money will be staying in my wallet until that changes. Team ninja needs to take a hint from Team Soul (and the only hint) and make compatibility packs.
 
I just watch this topic to see what fighting game VincentRayne will shit on next! Pretty much get that you love DoA and hate everything else but damn.

Not saying I dislike DoA, but that's kinda funny when you think about how the 'FGC' feels about DoA. Not saying they're wrong or right but I am saying that, as someone who's supposedly trying to put a good face on DoA, you probably shouldn't lash out every chance you get and sink to their level. Give kindness a chance, bro. As the person here who's trying to be that guy for DoA, you're not really helping by being that guy.

i like you a lot LostProvidence. you're the dude i'm normally rooting for at the tourneys so i would hate to look negative not only to you but anyone else that i like more than the others. sorry if i seem to shit on games. although the only ones i can think of is Tekken and SC5 mechanics. I'm not the only one who thinks these things but i let my opinion be known. to be fair i do give all games equal opportunity before i make judgement. but no one should be too upset because my views are what they are. my views. they're opinions. i like some games more than others. unfortunately, since coming from a family that often lives in a "glass half empty" kind of world then i may come out as more negative than positive. I don't mean to be a douche if i do seem that way. you can ask the people i hang out with that i'm a really cool and chill dude.

i will try to be more kind though.

Seems 'slower paced' than what I'm used to seeing in online matches. Must be the lack of mashing and use of spacing/punishing...

When you're playing offline, mashing is not quite as viable anymore unless you're playing Rig or something. I enjoyed this match, thank you. When you have two similar styled characters, how you approach one another becomes extra important due to needing that extra advantage to stay on top.

Also on a different note, I'm still amused by how "excited" the Japanese commentators can get at times lol. Made the match really hype.

I understand what you mean. Just think of it in the same way that you pretty much never hear a president badmouthing another country. At least in my eyes, as someone who wants to get better, wants the game to do well, and is actively trying to support the game (I'm thinking you'll be playing the game regardless of whether or not the 'FGC' accepts it), you're sort of like an ambassador for the game. I may be completely wrong and there's no doubt my opinion means just about nothing - just giving it to you.

They really should ban Kokoro's kimonos from serious play.

Lol, Hawkeye used to say the same thing when he was playing and I'd pick her. I thought it was just bitching.

Glad that played out the way it did. As soon as I saw a fast GB in Akira's movelist, I knew people would find some way to abuse that ish.
 
Kimono is now dubbed super mode for Kokoro xD

Main issue is that it completely covers her legs from closed stance and her left hand becomes more obscured due to the kimono's draping. Kokoro's more subtle attacks - and moves that start from her rear leg, like 3K - are difficult to see coming, so it makes it difficult to react to her stuff.

I suppose reading the player is still possible, but in the fighting game genre, there's usually an attempt to make sure all characters' limbs are easy and not obscured so players can read movements. Rarely are their characters whose moves are obscured; most of them are usually cheating bosses. =)
 
Banning something like kimonos is freaking weak. It is nowhere near the accepted standard for bans, which is Akuma in ST.
 
Eh, if someone really wanted to abuse the kimono they'd attempt to stay in close stance most of time. And that'd pretty difficult to manage.

Been working on Hitomi the past few nights. Finding it difficult to really punish players running off strings all day. I'm not really sure what Hitomi's crushes are, but I did find out that 3K strings aren't guaranteed after the first hit. Meaning players can just guess high or mid on the second hit and they don't really need to slam a forward+hold on either. Kinda lame. Also found out that Hitomi's punch parry can't be used to escape a holdable string. I'm cool with that. Just a matter of predicting and properly timing 9H for those high and mid strings. I was wondering if it's possible to change the follow-up punch? Hoping for some sort of launcher.

Speaking of launchers, I've found a number of good ones, but I'm lacking in basic combos. I thought 4KPPP would work on a number of them, but most launchers launch too low to work. So trying to find some other, damaging strings that could connect. P+KPP seems good, but was hoping for others. PP6PK is a bit tricky for me at the moment, and doesn't always work.

Hitomi's sit-downs seem to suck. About the only thing I could follow up with is 66K strings, and those are holdable on the second hit.
