To premature :)

You have to do it first. You should also remember some people are very adept at shutting things down immediately after or being surprised by an opponent. I'm not sure just how far Babalook would get offline after the initial surprise of heavy FC A+B Guard Break use. Ivy's 22k is a far cry from that. Once u realize it works its a phenomenal tool against ur opponent.

A perfect example was ur opponent Thuggish who lost to u in Winners but took the win back GF's. In France he lost to Keev and Maxou a couple times but figured out what he needed to the second time especially against Maxou "GF's" and boy did he figure out all the nonsense. In fact he does it all the time. In general that is how all the best competitors operate cause even though they might lose surprisingly "Daigo to" they come back and rape especially against the individual who got the uprising upset the first time.

Imo Babalooks use of FC A+B is what makes him stand out but again imo against the pool of best he'll figure out it won't work.

Sup Hilde raper.
Babalook is a lot more than FC A+B GB, is a smart player and what's make him a top player is that he adapts really quick to any situation, as we all know Tughish does, but at the end, this is always pure theory, I can't say for sure that Babalook would win a tournament, but I can say he would win most of FT10 he would play, cause you can lose 2 matches to any good player, but you can´t lose 10 matches to someone who isn't better than you.

Nori, I know you beat me out in casuals, tough we only played 3 matches since the place was crowded with peolple that wanted to play, I wish we could played more at nats, Egg started beating me out, as Kira and Hates , but that didn´t last long. The game is about getting better, at that time Noface used to beat like 10-1 everytime we played. Anyway, if there's a major in Texas by the end of the year or so, I might be able to go and play more with TX´s players, CNP is a cool dude, as well as all the other texans I met.

I just hate when people play the "if this guy showed up, he would have won" card when there are literally less than 5 people in the country who have beaten Thuggish in tournament play.

yeah this is true that is why when we had the barfights in chicago and he got pretty fucked up i just took a dive for him because it would have looked horrible on his track record

Lolo: I'm not saying your Yoshi isn't good. It was REALLY good from what I remember. We played about 5 matches at the venue and 3 at my hotel. I just feel Yoshi is very limited in what he can do to a smart Cervantes player, that's all. I'm not questioning your skill level, but if I did really good against Hajime, who I and many consider the best Yoshi out there, (I beat him first to 10-8) you would have to be pretty godlike to change my mind. Either way, it would be great if you ever came to TX, you can stay by me if you want so you don't have to pay for a hotel.

Sure I will, San Antonio is a good place for shooping, so even if there aren't any tournaments, I will visit it sooner or later, and is probably the cheapest ticket I can buy to US, so I have no excuses, hope you still play SC by the time I go.

I just gotta say, this thread deserves an award. Just for how it is. One day, I'll take part of offline.
Just not now because of some personal stuff. I really hope this community stays strong and keeps playing that Calibur.
I totally want to be part of it. Although, online is all got for now..............

YOU FRIGGIN ONLINE SCRUB!!!!! LA LA LA LA LA LA......

All jokes aside. I really think this is an eye-opener on the tournament/community scene. Yes, this game has been out for almost 2 years. However, that doesn't mean it has to die. I mean, marvel (despite being broken) has had some longevity. Same thing happened with melee. Beleive you and me, our practice sessions may be limited right now, but trying to include SF players to come into our scene may be challenging. Since it seems that we're coming onto their scence. Honestly, FG's in general would probably need to do whatever it's necessary to keep each other alive. It's already bad enough that FPS would easily topple us when it comes to #'s simply because of the fact that they include team tournaments (which include 4)

who knows. Probably the best thing we can teach each other is that when they come onto a new game. They have to 1st remember that IT'S A NEW GAME. They can't go in expecting that the properties of the new game will be carried over. I can't speak for everyone, however i can see that players when they try something new, that's the mentality they will have.

anywho, enough of my Malice Speech.

KEEP PLAYING SOOOUL CALIBEER!!!!

:D

^ Worst Malice speech evah. :-P

But seriously, this game is not going to die since there will still be plenty of people who will still play the game online. And offline, this game doesn't have not die, especially when the other fighting games that are out there are either dumb or boring. Plus you won't find anywhere near the same level of awesomeness in another community like you would with this one. Plus judging by how active this thread is and how well Devastation went, the interest in this game is still there.

It would be nice if fighting games kept each other alive, but most people are just going to stick with what they play. I already gave up on trying to get new people to play Calibur. They aren't going to jump in at this point when they already know they will get that ass beat. Hopefully when a new game comes out, I'll have better luck. But whatever. I'll still be playing Calibur. And eventhough I don't like SSF4 much, I'm just playing to keep myself active and to get more tournament experience. And as long as our community is still active, we'll be fine.

Lolo and I are fairly even when it comes to Yoshi. He's a bit more risky, but we both know what Yoshi is capable of and we share all our Yoshi knowledge with each other. The only difference is I know how to handle certain characters better than him and vice-versa.

NoFace: See, man! Told you you had this shit! Been backing you since Cali regionals and look how far you've come, fucked up modded controller and all! If you ever make it up to NorCal, I can guarantee some good matches. Like Krayzie said, maybe my power resides here in NorCal and after a couple hours of warm-up. Guess I just can't go in cold, huh? I think that game against Link was the exception to that rule.

Nori: Was good to finally play you, man. Wish we could've gotten more games in on Saturday when I was all warmed up! Regardless, that FT10 was pretty dumb. Had you punished me more consistently and had I punished you more consistently, the result would have been likely the same. Something close to even. I think we can both agree that neither character has a distinct advantage over the other.

Texas folks: I thought ICE was the only guy, but it seems all of you can see iFC 3K. I had my doubts, but I believe it now. Props. ^_^

DK: Psh. Not my fault Typhoon put his quarter up. We never got to play it out. That's okay, I'll take my damn team tourney win and you can have your 3rd place. =( You're almost fun to hang out with when you're not an ass! <3

Dest: Set your damn buttons on the character select screen during a tournament! Anyways, was good to play you. Would've been nice to get some casuals in. I suppose next time I'm done in AZ.

Lobo: Was good to hang out with you. I don't think I've ever seen you sober, sir.

Salmon: GGs, man. Glad to have finally played you only 1.5 years after meeting up at Cali Regionals. Props on taking down my boy Krayzie with YunSung. Your Mitsu is pretty damn scary as well.

Xeph: Better come out to NorCal sometime, man. You owe me a MM! Haha. Was pretty funny watching you get shot down by gamer girls. Props for the effort, though.

Malice: Mad TAS B skills, sir. Just not enough to deal with my Yoshi gimmicks! Was great hanging with you.

Chickenwing: This man knocked over two guys to get a T-shirt. A T-shirt!! How many T-shirts did you finally get? Anyways, I believe you are right. It just wasn't my day for Calibur. Pretty sure you Texans are the only American players who can deal with iFC 3K on reaction as well (well, not you, but your peers, yeah. haha). I'll be out in TX sometime in the future to visit family friends. Maybe we can throw down then.

NDK: Thanks for watching my water, bro. Props on the Asura madness!

KrayieCD: Grats on tying me for 5th! You're too damn humble. Told you you would do well! We just have to get you drink before a tourney and put a mic next to you. Oh, and don't steal backpacks anymore!

Typhoon: GGs, man. That's a nasty Sets you have there. I think I had the advantage when it came to char experience in this match, thanks to ShenRei. Regardless, you played very solid. Any vids you upload would be appreciated.

GreatOne: Wish we could've played, bro. Glad to hear you didn't get arrested, though. Maybe we'll have another chance in the future. If I'm ever in the Seattle area I'll look you guys up.

Thuggish: I'll get at least a match, if not a full on win against you someday (assuming there's another opportunity). That is, once I finally sit down and learn to deal with Amy. I'll gladly accept a MM on that day!

Agustin: Solid Mitsu and Yoshi, man. Was good to meet you and play you.

If I missed people, my apologies.

I thought that TIO would autosave my results, but when we basically got kicked out of Devastation for the day due to somebody being too black and loud, and when people were just doing whatever, I closed the program and lost the results. Last time I checked the results, Queens were up, so the winner of the brokest team tournament I ever been a part of goes to Team Queens OMG Us So Mean. Not only were they wrecking shit but they have the gayest name for a team ever. Great job guys.

But wow, what an event. I came to Devastation not knowing what to expect or who I would actually meet, and ended up having a blast along with Calibur leaving a lasting impression on the event itself. I wasn’t expecting to have this much fun at Devastation or to be able to come away with so many stories. For those who were unable to make it, I wish that you could have been a part of it, but seeing how much hype and interest people are now showing in Calibur in this aftermath, I’m sure that people won’t miss out if we are back next year.

So how was the tournament for Soul Calibur 4? The tournament itself was so much fun. The brackets ran as smooth as you could ask for. We were given ample time to have our tournament streamed online. And we were the only ones to also have drunk commentary during our matches, so a big shoutout again goes to the Dev team for moving the start time from Friday to Saturday so that we could all make it and compete in the tournament and so people could watch matches online.

I had my worries about how the tournament would go and what people’s impressions of Soul Calibur would be. I also did not want to see Amy vs Amy in the finals, so shout out to Noface for taking out thugish_pond on Saturday. That semi-final match was a hot one, and gave more people a reason to watch the conclusion on Sunday. I was so rooting for Noface to win it all, but it is difficult to beat thugish twice in one tournament by the same person. He is something else and the World Champion for a reason, and is still the man to beat. Hopefully more people will step up to face him.

The finals on Sunday were hot though. I got there early to watch the finals for most of the games. They were pretty entertaining to watch, but the finals for SC4 were the truth though. I was rooting for Noface hard because thugish is evil and must be defeated. Hopefully that will happen soon because he can't stay on top forever.

At the end, it seemed like people were down on Calibur, but after reading this aftermath thread for the past few days, the posts have been pretty lively. One of the reasons why I came out to Devastation was to help put some life back into this game because Calibur is still the shit. I’m not quitting no time soon. I still have plenty of bitches to stab, and now some new faces that I need to beat.

I don’t know what it is about Calibur players, but everybody is cool as fuck. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you from, what gender you are, what your sexuality is, or your skill level at the game, we can all hang out and have a great time. I’m glad to be a part of this community.

I would love to come back to Phoenix again. I know there’s a bunch of people who would have came to this one if they could, plus the French were going to come as well. And I wish that Namco was working on a new version of Calibur so that the decision to have us back would be an easier one to make, but there’s still plenty of life to this game. But if there’s Calibur at Devastation next year, I will definitely be back for it. Plus everybody that I talked to said that they would be back next year. And if you are reading this and weren’t able to come, you have a year to plan for next year’s Dev, so don’t be planning shit at the last minute and then try to come out here on a whim because some unexpected shit could happen like your car break down on you.

Plus I need to see my West Coast peoples again. We had way too much fun. I hope you come visit me here in Philadelphia sometime.

Shoutouts:

Jedirobb & Dr. Dogg: Thanks again for having us and for giving Calibur some good exposure time. When I look at the aftermath for 2009, everyone had nothing but great things to say about Devastation, and the same can be said for 2010. I can’t think of anything bad to say about the event. Everything about Devastation was top notch. Hopefully we will be back next year.

Lobo: I wasn’t expecting you to be hungover by the time I arrived, but damn, pick up people from the airport first, then get drunk. We need to actually get some games in next time. I still need to give you some of that Sophie love.

KrazyieCD: it’s good to finally meet you and experience the krazyieness firsthand. You were acting a fool for pretty much the entire weekend. I have never seen a black man happier in my life at Hooters. I also never seen anyone get ejected from a video game tournament. I’m fucking you up the next time I see you. Fuck that Maxi bullshit. I was not ready for that because nobody uses him. But you are the man at this game and you did well in the tournament. Good shit.

Greatone: it’s good to finally meet you as well. I hope I didn’t stab you too badly with Sophie. I also can’t believe that you sat next to me all that time and didn’t say shit until I said something. I also need to hit you up for some hotel discounts and play you more. Hope to see you soon.

Xephukai: it’s good to finally meet you as well. I’m kicking that ass next time. Fucking unseeable 2KB bs. But I already knew that you were good. Leave them gamer girls alone ladykiller. And I was honored to sign your nametag eventhough it included the essence of Lobo’s balls on it. That’s a keepsaver now.

Destinizish: it’s good to finally meet you as well. I hope you enjoyed the cock pillow slaps. I’m kicking that ass next time.

Dreamkiller: it’s good to see you again. It’s crazy that I have to fly all the way across the damn country to see you. And I have yet to play any games with you. I haven’t played you in Calibur in 2 years. I'm sure to see you soon in Philly.

King_Salmon I now see why you are named that. You just show up and start whipping ass. Epic matches against KrazyieCD. Keep playing that Calibur.

thugish_pond aka Kobe Bryant aka player hater of the year – man you are evil. But not only are you the man at this game, but your cockblocking skills are also top tier. Who the fuck gets cockblocked by a PS3 controller? That was a historic moment in hater history. And let me get some Calibur groupies too. Holla at me.

Nofacekill3r: Glad that you came out and took 2nd place. I would have killed myself if there was an Amy Vs Amy final. Amy Vs Ivy is more bearable. Plus the crowd got hyped whenever you did a command grab. And your match against Dreamkiller was fucking intense. And I wish that I was around for more of your famous quotes. At least I was there for one of them. Your nametag is also not food.

TheHumanTyphoon: Leave them Hooters waitresses alone. Gotta get more games in next time.

DivineChaos97: Wasn’t expecting you to come here, but glad you came. Fuck Street Fighter and get back on this Calibur tip.

Ivylicious: glad to meet you for the first time. You did well in SC, SF, and in Tekken. Keep that shit up.

NinjaCW: wasn’t expecting you to go to Devastation, but glad you made it. Good shit in SF.

Hajime: Awesome Yoshi shenanigans. I'm beating that ass next time.

Blackmamba – good to meet you for the first time. Let them haters keep hatin. And keep on playing Calibur.

TX: As soon as you guys were here, yall were out. Stay longer next time.

Arizona: thanks for being hot and raising taxes right before I get there. GGs.

Hyatt: Beautiful hotel. Hot ass receptionists. Banging ass breakfast. I’ll see you again.

Hooters: Thanks for putting up with our shenanigans. I don't ever go to Hooters, but the one in Phoenix was godlike.

Asian Hooters waitress with them big ass titties: Damn you had some big ass titties. I wish I could have put a ring on that like dahang!!!!!!!!!

White Hooters waitress with the big ass titties: Damn you had some big ass titties. Plus you had ass. I know that you will never read this, but dahang!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Old drunk lady: Fix your marriage and stop being a slut. Alcohol is not an excuse to be one.

Old guy: Fix your marriage too. If you were handling your business like you were supposed to, you wouldn’t have your lady looking for love with some random Calibur players on the street. Then you go and throw beer like a little bitch. You lucky you ain’t catch an ass whooping.

Random black guy at the hotel: Damn you were random. I don’t know why random people just come up and talk to me, but we had to have spent an hour just talking about white chicks with asses in Arizona. At first I was going to run, but the conversation was too deep. Be well.

Random ass bartender at random ass club: you are the fucking truth. I don't drink long island iced teas, but you were hooking them bitches up proper. ggs

Duck Hunt: so much fun to play.

Calibur groupie: you were looking good when I was talking to you earlier while sitting with Dr. Dogg. We could always use that groupie love.

Hot ass sisters playing GG and Mahvel: Damn yall look good. Don't be afraid of Calibur players.

Phoenix Convention Center security: you guys know how to ruin a good time when you see one. ggs

Alice Cooper: you suck for not having your kitchen open so that we could get some food.

Dan Marleje: I don’t like you.

White women; where are yall getting these asses from. I need to know.

Delta: thanks for the free flight but charging me for everything else and delaying my flight to Philadelphia for no damn reason. At least we didn’t crash. GGs

As for me, I need to play better. Next time I will play better. Hope to see yall soon. Come visit me in Philly. And Team Rapedicks 4 life.

So, apparently i wasnt clear before, ur all talkin bout the xbox live team and how we should go offline especialy babalook. but we quit soul calibur well over a month ago, Even noface was planning on quittin before dev. Dragon moved on to blaz blue and no longer plays soul cal. babalook and myself play Tekken now and we are hopin noface will join us. so to clear it up, the four of us wont be goin to any(anymore) soul calibur 4 tournies, and will no longer play it period. maybe Soul Calibur 5 ;)

we dont play soul calibur anymore but we would love to play tekken wit ya. <3

Last time I checked, Queens were 5-0 and Norcal was 4-0. Y'all can settle that shit next year, and hopefully we won't get kicked out next time.

Go have fun playing Tekken. You won't be missed. But Noface will be missed since he actually showed up to a tournament. So I hope he keeps playing and maybe come out to one of the tournaments here on the east coast.

And Tekken is not that great. I don't see why you need to completely quit Calibur to play that trash. Just play both if you want to. Or better yet, avoid Tekken like some stank butt.

I need more asura shoutouts

I have never seen someone spam GB Asura like it was nothing. That shit was hilarious. Love the avatar.
