DEVASTATION 2010 - SC4, T6, SSF4, Halo 3 and more!

I just know it's very difficult for a lot of people to not only get off work, but drive to be there on time for a Fri tournament, especially for a reasonably big game like SC4. I know others will be driving as well and would have to take off extra days to be there for fri afternoon.

His main concern was that on Fri, it's easier to livestream everything but it's also harder to get people to actually show up on Fri. Currently, SC4 starts at Fri at 4pm, he sounds like he can change it but needs to discuss this w/the rest of the team.

Heya guys...

It is a tough job balancing all the factors that weigh in on something this big, especially when we are so player-centric; it is hard pleasing everyone.

I chatted with the team and we have opted to move SCIV to Saturday. It does occupy the 10:00 AM slot but it is Saturday. You guys get lots of love this year, including a decent spot on the Sunday finals broadcast.

A reminder on the fees: $35 registration and $15 to the pot... we decreased the registration fee this year and upped the pot amount to make it better for you guys; more money for you to win, less for us to pay the power bill with.

Ha.

Seriously though... that power bill is a monster.

Hope this works out for everyone... feel free to show the registration love so we do not feel like it was all in vain.

Thanks again Jedi Robb for considering the pleas of the players! Saturday is a much better day for most folks I can imagine, even with the early start time. We just gotta get up early, get our starbucks coffee/tea, and get our heads in the game early. Now I can look forward to chilling with the folks on Friday! Just can't do too much drinking on Friday night w/Lobo lol.

Not to sound selfish, but you guys did post up on your site that the tournament for SCIV would be held on friday, and I booked my return flight based on that assumption. Now the sudden change?

What about people like me?

yeah guys jedirobb is really bending over backwards to suit us this year. thanks a ton for that, man. also i'd like to point out that anyone who has qualms with the entry fee needs to consider a couple things, first casual gamers and spectators don't have to pay. offering that costs money. also this isn't JUST a little tournament. everyone keep in mind that last year we had strippers and FUCKING SUGAR GLIDERS. ask anybody, DEVASTATION is well worth the loot.

also krayzie you know we getting shitfaced!

as long as the 50 is worth then It sould be ok. I just found a 59 dollar ticket on Southwest airlines as well. So I'd recomend going there if you still need a tix.

Wow is this for real?
Why is this even an issue?
This needs to be changed to Saturday. Not that I bought my ticket, but I'm of course planning on it but how many people are actually gonna be able to attend a tourney at Friday MORNING!

When is your return flight?

The finals have always been scheduled for Sunday. Were you just planning on missing them?

SC4 was originally planned for 4pm on Friday. Now it's 10am on Saturday. Were you planning to fly out Saturday morning?

We have enough stations to knock out SC4 in an hour or so if we really wanted to. I made sure you guys have a station or two all day Saturday so you can hold a team tournament or just play casuals after the main event. We can't please everyone, but we're doing everything we can for the SC community here.

What time will the finals be on Sunday?

Finals will run all day, but SC4 finals start at noon.

1. SC4 was never Friday morning. It was originally scheduled for Friday at 4pm.

2. Evo is a three day event with tournaments starting Friday morning. A lot of majors are starting to become three day events. Something has to start Friday morning. In the case of DEV, that something is KoF12.

3. As jedirobb stated a few posts up, SC4 is now Saturday at 10am. Hopefully that pleases as many people as possible.

Jus skimming through the thread, sorry I didnt read it above.
Good to know tho.

I'm still debating on what to do....just to add to my consideration, is anyone offering housing? :)

@KrayzieCD: I never paid $50 dollars to enter a tournament either. I could do alot of things with $50. The main point I wanted to make was that their venue fee is pretty much in line with other large tournaments. And I am sure that they are going to have mad bills with holding the event at a convention center. But I'm confident it's going to be worth the price.

I also never paid $65 dollars to enter a tournament either. I should have stuck with SC4 and not enter in SSF4, but whatever. I'm beating somebody's ass in that game.

But Friday was a concern for me a well since I didn't want to have to hop off the plane all danky and then had to go right into SC4. Saturday works so much better so thank you guys for moving the tournament. Can you also post that information on the website as well?

And now I'm really hyped about this. It's on Friday night. Saturday I know I'm going to be hungover trying to TAS B a muthafucka. I can see it now. But I really can't wait for this. See y'all there.

Well, it was as easy as calling, stating your case and asking nicely, and now almost everybody seems to be happy (I'm sure the airlines can be flexible w/you noface. Unless you got expedia, then you are fucked).

I'm hyped as shit for this

The site (schedule) has been updated and, even thought it states that times are tentative, etc., they should not really move at all unless a game just gets a blowout in terms of registration. Since we stagger the tournaments and run multiple set ups at a time, even a blowout really will not affect us much.

If you guys make it in Friday there should/can be set ups for SCIV so you can hang out and play.

Wait until you see what the room looks like on Sunday... it is a friggin transformer.

P.S. there is a Starbucks in the Convention Center right where you walk in from the hotel... since Krayzie mentioned it.

I'm back to being on the positive side for this....So. Thank you for moving it to Saturday, i wouldn't care on time tbh, it's just the day i needed off was Friday. And now possibly monday due to finals (because trust me....i'm playing on Sunday as well...:D)

I took off Friday and Monday because there was no way that I was going to travel on Sunday and try to make it back to work on Monday, and since I lose time going back to the east coast.

And it's good to see the positive responses from you guys. I think everything is going to work out well for us and Calibur. Eventhough SSF4 is out, Calibur is still better and more fun, so I'm going hard at it. I'm expecting my old ass to be playing on Sunday.

Friday I will be playing casuals and trying to meet people, so come find me. And what's the deal with these strippers I keep hearing about? Do they play Calibur and do they have aaaaaaaayyyyyyyuuuuuusssss? I need details.

OP Updated!

For those concerned with the registration price, the first 50 people to register with the discount code: supertop8 get $5 off the registration.

As far as housing... I know a lot of people are sharing hotel rooms. Lobo's place is full, my place has 7-10 people, but I still have plenty of floor space. Only problem is that my ride doesn't hold 10 people so if you want in at my place you'd have to find a way to and from the convention center.

I wanna gooooooo :( Dont think Id be able to find anyone willing enough to use their vehicle for the drive or go splits on gas...*sighs* It seems like alot of good talent will be there. Shux! Id love to try my hand against them
