Draggonnfs' CaS - SCV, SCIV, SCBD, SCIII

How important is Creation in Soul Calibur for you?

@Draggonnfs: you have a very unique style. Modern. A mix of Lolita and haute couture. Most people here go for knights and sorcerers, but you're trying to do something very different and very difficult. I find that admirable. You're also doing a very good job. I especially like this one:
SOULCALIBUR Ⅴ_4.png
The hound's tooth pattern is very fashionable, and you do a superb job of breaking up the pattern with black stickers around the neck, waist, and skirt rim. As Pocky mentioned, try adding in just a little bit of a third color. Turn the leg ribbons and the headband red (or any other color than black/white), and you're pretty much set for this one. Also try throwing on a silver necklace with a red jewel. Definitely throw on earrings too. Girls love to accessorize for whatever reason. Then, if you're really bored, try using a bunch of stickers and SpecEq to make a custom hairstyle like this:
https://8wayrun.com/threads/cas-mirror-match.17769/page-3#post-691612
The horns, crescent moon, and feather SpecEqs are especially good for fake hair.

Zebra stripe girl with the three horns is also really cool in a bizarre way. Throw in a third color and she'll be set. Candy also is the start of something fascinating. The unusual equipment choices show a lot of personality. Once you color her in, she'll look great.

Some advice:
(1) combine multiple drafts of your CaS's together. Your creations tend to all have one really cool trick, but then you kinda skimp on the rest. Throw multiple tricks together for a more unique look.

(2) try new color combinations. Might be ugly, but who cares? You don't need to create a masterpiece every time. Don't be afraid to try weird shit like orange/green or blue/brown.

(3) watch some runway shows. or look up pictures. You don't need to copy or recreate anything at all, but the runway shows will really get you thinking about fashion. Seeing things differently. This is probably the most important bit of advice I can give you.

Overall, you're doing great. I always love to see the new modern fashions you turn out each batch.

Thanks for the reply! I'm actually surprised you are... at least a bit interested in my creations, so thanks. The example of using the spec. equipment is amazing, the hair is beautiful! I used to use a lot of stickers and patterns, which I kinda dropped with the recent stuff, but I've been telling myself I should return to using patterns and trying to come up with something genuinely original, because most of the simple ones are just me putting things I like into them and, well, nothing original about that :D Thanks for the advice :)

Hello,
I return once again with some mediocre creations to cast your sight on.

I don't know when I'll post some more creations. Probably several months from now, maybe quite soon, if I keep up my recent return to creation, or this might be the last time until SCVI comes out.... Or just the last time.

Hey, you're making great progress!
I'm gonna have to say that CaS 7 in the black and yellow is my favorite. Great use of the pocket sticker to add some texture. Looks as though the GoT Sand Snakes joined Mega Man.

I like the overall Egyptian scheme on CaS 6, the white/gold girl. You chose out very theme-appropriate clothing for her.

CaS 1 in the black and purple. CaS 1 in the black and purple is quite beautiful too. I like how you used dark/somber colors while keeping the clothing light, airy, and fresh. The striped socks add that touch of punk too. Then you throw in a maid cap and ninja blades. This girl has a lot of very strange, interesting themes going on. I have no idea what the fuck she's supposed to be, and I like it. I do have to say though; it looks like she went shopping at the same store as one of my old creations from 2014 haha. Either way, she looks great!

Keep up the good work!

Back again with a few creations. I pretty much stopped playing SCV on any regular basis, because of my connection issues. When I come back to it though, I usually have one or two clear ideas of what I want to make, and don't really spend much time experimenting in CaS.

  • Style - aPat, extremely simple one.

That's all for today, hopefully it'll be at least mildly appealing to someone.

Hey, you should give them names or something so they're easier to review!

aPat 1: Can't go wrong with black lingerie. The small splashes of pink and gold add some variety to the color palette.

aPat 2: The equipment layering is interesting. I think you could add a third color (other than white and brown) for a bit of variety. Even some black would work. I do like how you're starting to incorporate a bit of "edge" in your designs. It's a refreshing change from your usual girly girl designs.

aPat 3: Very cute military look. Nice use of that ribbon special equipment on the hair. Again, maybe adding a third color would help. Like making her hair like bright purple or something for the anime look lol.

Sieg: Cool sticker work with the hearts. And good job with the waist equipment too. I think you're actually the first person I've ever seen use the butterfly antennae like that. Good find!

Xiba: Very interesting design. I really like how you used the tiger pattern to merge the blouse and the skirt. Another trick I haven't seen before. This one has a lot of potential. I think you overdid it with the patterns though. I would change the gloves and boots to brown with black highlights. Leave the scarf as a bright red for the contrast. If you're feeling extra fancy, you can use special equipment to construct a belt for her. Maybe even a custom dagger.

You're making great progress. I'll be keeping an eye out for you.

Thanks again, @brucege! I'll try experimenting with more colours, but I usually like to have a persistent colour pattern all around on the character, if that makes any sense. I don't want anything looking out of place or stick out too much. That's why I usually use two colours, and the same colour or pattern on multiple pieces, to create a sort of a balance? That's how I feel about it. But I'll try to think of something, add some more colours and perhaps try to think of some use for more special equipment, since I don't use it much.

Hello, this will likely be the final update to my SC Creations before SCVI launches. When that happens, I'll make a separate thread for SCVI Creations. But today, I'll include SCV, SCIV and BD Creations, as possibly the final update. I'll split the pictures by game.

Bit of a problem here with the quality - I can't emulate PS3 for better picture quality on my PC yet, because my graphics card doesn't support OpenGL4, so I had to use my capture device, and I can only capture from the PS3 over component, and for some reason I had a ridiculous amount of ghosting, and the picture quality overall is really quite bad. But anyway, here are a few pieces from SCIV:

Just been through your whole gallery and, the difference between the first page and the latest speaks volumes. You've taken constructive criticism incredibly well and built upon an already interesting foundation.

I look forwards to seeing your SCVI thread when the game launches.
