E3 2009

I think I just saw the title "Final Fantasy XIV Online"

Am I fucking seeing things?

EDIT: Holy Shit. Mod Nation Racers looks kick ass. New IPs FTW.

EDIT2: Sony wins this e3 as far as I'm concerned. Mod Nation Racers demo and The Last Guardian trailer made me jizz hard. Don't care about for FFXIII or XIV or GoWIII to be honest. Microsoft is second. Nintendo had no business wasting our time with their silly showing. Golden Sun DS is probably the only thing I'm looking forward to that was shown in their conference.

Hard to say... both are gimmicky and will fail to the wholey inferior Wii Motion Plus.

I wonder if 360's Natal will actually work as they showed it, since a lot of what they showed was sizzle video and we all know that when it comes to different types of interfaces, they never work as well as the sizzle video. I have the PS3Eye, and it can ALREADY do what they showed in the video... I just chose not to use it for that, because I dont want to play games that way. The new mokap wands they have though, which offer 1:1 millimeter precision looks interesting.

If someone could master how to implement that as a mouse for RTS games on the PS3... we may have a winner.

Sony conference has started... and its already shaping up to be better. People are actually cheering in the audience, while at the Nintendo conference, the audience was silent (in utter disgust). Sony will own this year...

Modern Warfare 2
Final Fantasy 13
Ratchet and Clank
Rock Band Beatles
Infamous
Prototype
Uncharted 2
Bayonetta
White Knight Chronicles
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Read Faction 3
Gunstar Heroes
Tekken 6
BlazBlue
PixelJunk Shooter
Fight Night Round 4
Cross Edge
Dark Void
Heavy Rain
Assassin's Creed 2
Brutal Legend
Bioshock 2

And thats just 2009...

There is also Final Fantasy 13 Versus and TRICO coming!

Oh come on man! You list all that like its exclusive.

crits and observations of the sony conference-

no Heavy Rain Demo... and leaving it just for the sizzle reel? also, you're going to introduce a new IP (Agent) and not have anything to show besides Logo....

sizzle reels great as usual but they're ultimately to drive home a point; PS3 has got games. i can respect that.

game demos were fantastic. Uncharted 2 = Jizzed in my pants, MAG meh, Bearbrick racer meh, god of war 3 = jizzed in my pants, assassin's creed two not bad those are the only demos i remember.

Ps2 they kept light which is good. focus was on ps3 and that's where it should be. this could be ps2's last year.

no price drop mentioned.

props to Sony for bringing Augmented Reality to the Playstation 3. Definitely shouldn't have been shown the way it is. It was way too unrefined. but i can understand that it was probably built from pressure of wii motion + and Project Natal. they had to show something on this front. and demoing AR (already did with Eye of Judgement), still very good form. Just really needs to be tweaked in the graphic front to make it consumer ready. also adding ideas from Natal isn't that far of a stretch as they're both very similar to each other. Notice the basic functionality of natal was present in the tech demo.

PSP got heavy play. I like that. hannah montana for the motha fuckin win. that bitch is the truth. in this industry we only have room for the new, if you're old you need TO GET THE FUCK OUT THE WAY! Bring on the new... HA!

other than that. real strong showing. AR is on par with Natal in technical side but it needed to be more refined. also, the tech guy needed to either have sex, get head, or masteurbate before coming out. he was way too nervous and i can understand, it's difficult but damn.... stuttering and staggering? hitting verbal pauses like YOOOOOO~~

the thought of the translator for GT director and producer was working on a crossword puzzle while he was translating. which made me LOL.

now.. does this beat MS's conference? it doesn't beat Natal. Natal is something on a whole nother level. very similar to what LBP did when it was first announced. it's just a whole other beast that No conference could beat. What Natal Promises through it's own and other's with Milo etc etc it's mindbogglingly fun to think of those prospects. but the Microsoft conference aside from Natal was rather meh... games that were multiplat were demoed and the exclusives did keep things in order for MS and though it was a damn strong show, Sony just delivered a better overall package. my 2 cents.

- on a side note, Augmented Reality it's fairly new tech when you think about it, but it has been around for a couple of years already. hell, Discovery channel is releasing a theme park that should be entirely based in Augmented Reality, "Future is Wild theme park" also, if you youtube augmented reality you'll see some other fun tech demos. but yeah.. Props still goes out to the ps3 for bringing this in.

they brought 2nd life in the form of home, and they're bringing AR.... look at sony riding the wave of technology and introducing it to the mainstream.

I swear to Jesus. If that game gets announced, I might die from shock. If I don't, I'm going to buy WHATEVER system it's being released on. Even if it's on the damn Wii (although I pray that Inafune isn't THAT cheap).

He has said repeatedly that he is dying to make a third entry and that all the pieces are in place, all he needs is a go ahead from Capcom. When Capcom made their 3d engine that lost Planet and Dead Rising runs on, it was supposedly built with a ML3 in mind, so I'd bet money that it would come to 360.

I still gotta play ML2 and the Tron Bon spin off tho...

PS3 doesn't have a price drop... but starting next week, the $400 unit will come with two free games.

sorry to post crap i've found on 4chan, but this just sums up e3 too well for me

I'm looking forward to FF14 Online honestly...

FF11 may not have been a very good MMO, but it did a few things that I wish other MMOs would do. Mainly I am talking about the class system. Not so much the sub-class system, but the primary-class system. The fact that you could change your class whenever you wanted to was something that no other MMO except The Agency for the PS3 has even been talking about. If you look at WoW, so many players have multiple characters, because they want to try out different classes. The idea that you can simply go back to your room and change your class, without having to change your character, lose your money, your guild assosciations or your friends list is simply paramount to almost everything I have seen in an MMO.

I'm also hoping that FF14 will have a more indepth story than FF11. After playing EQ2, I feel that I simply can't touch an MMO if it doesn't have an engaging story. The quality of story in EQ2 is that I would compare to the landmark Final Fantasy titles. Every single quest in the game related in some way to the core or periphrial stories within the game, and when I stopped playing I had completed 1400 of them; all unique, no repeats. FF11 however failed in that regard, I quit the game when I had completed EVERY quest available in the entire game. And I was still level 47.

FF11 Online was Square's first MMO. They now have 4 successful MMOs under their belt... so I have high hopes for FF14 Online.

i'm looking forward to ffxiv online

but just call it ff online

what other MMOs did square make besides ff11?

also I'm willing to bet money (10 bucks) that FF14 will be severely "noobed up" to cater to people that play WOW. I wouldn't have such an easy time making an assumption like this if they didn't whore out FF7.

Stuff that never came out in Japan.

Fighting Illiteracy-- One Headshot at a Time!!!
Amazed you were the first person to notice the mistake.

Im assuming im repeating what everyone's saying but, damn, E3 just keeps getting worse. So far the only thing that kept my interest was GOW 3, That Metriod game, Uncharted 2, and the PSP Go (Great potential if eventually hacked. XD).

I mean seriously, Where Sin and Punishment 2 (Agreeing with Chopper. :D) ? Where's the Turtles in Time Remake ? Where's the news on Wii's VC and Wii Arcade ? (I mean come on 1 VC a week ?! And now they add Commodore 64 when we still have a crappy selection of N64 and Neo-Geo games ?! Come on !! >:( ) How come no work on BC for PS3 (Even thou it shows they totally quit on it after a month's of its release.) ? Where's my Battletoads and Duke Nukem Forever (Just joking. Although, it would be badass. XD) ?! The point is, its all the same crap they've been promising since 2 years ago. Guarenteed a huge majority of the games (with the exception of a few) will be half assed in the end.

I don't get the appeal of PSP Go since they said they aren't dropping UMD support

Just get a PSP 3000 for 80 bucks less

PSP2000 if you want homebrew

They aren't dropping SUPPORT for UMDs... but Sony will soon no longer be publishing games on the format. This is the reason for the PSPGo. They will be bypassing brick and mortar and be releasing games through their PSN Store download service. If they kept on releasing games through UMD, the PSPGo would be worthless.
