Ever had to dumb-down your offense for noobs?

PANDA

i swear these noobs who trys to attack EVERY SINGLE TIME on wake-up is getting annoying.
i kick them right after the win ..for making my offense look and feel retarded.

XD

An infuriating scenario, to be sure. If only they'd try something else. They're getting punished every time, so why don't they learn? My emotional reluctance to roboticize appropriately is one of my many big weaknesses.

Due to the randomness of most noobs' play, the only way you can really let them win is either to intentionally whiff every attack, or just not attack at all. Playing 50% worse is not only difficult to do, but also only increases the random chance that they might beat you if you are better than they are, rather than lowering yourself to a skill level they can compete against.

As for me, I just B, B them until they learn to block.

I think Panda's talking about how lame it feels to B, B for three rounds against someone who will never, ever press the block button.

My cousin's boyfriend's only defense was sidestepping to a B throw. After a while I stopped blocking myself and tried to win by only attacking and sidestepping. Unless they start asking themselves, I avoid giving advice to the really casual players in fear of coming off as arrogant.

Yup, anyone who constantly refuses to block on wakeup gets a meaty knockdown everytime till they get pissed and leave or figure out that I'm doing them a favor.

Many times with new players to the game I will play other charactors or may just not punish by not completeing heavy combos and keeping it liter... Personally I don't want to destoy new comers as I don't want to kill the future online of this game... Also if a player is cool and ask questions, I will be more then happy to get them on there way to learn, spar and improve them... But also works in reverse, if they are asses - I give them hell...

It kind of throws my rhythm off when having to do this because I have some traps I like using and mixups as well, but hardly ever find an opportunity to use them because they just keep getting hit by everything. I can't tell you how many times I hit someone with 236B with Cass after they wake up, just to hit them with it again after they wake up once more. I'm starting to think maybe these guys just don't actually have a guard button.

Maybe it fell off their controller at some point or they ripped it out because they thought they didn't need it. I don't know. I have kicked some opponents while they are down though for doing stupid crap like this.

It's not something I do often, but it just feels like I wasted my time -_-

I can totally agree with this... some idiots just constantly mash the attacks out, regardless of what you are doing.. making it basically a scrub battle, even if you aren't really a scrub.

When I run into these mashing morons, I just take the opportunity to work on my GI's knowing full well I can beat them at the drop of a hat if I'm willing to resort to cheap attacks that they will walk into everytime.

If I'm able to beat a person without it even being close, using my mains, then the next match I switch to my scrubby characters.

So they either face my scrubby Nightmare(1A 6KK all day) , Taki(PO shift after every move), or in more extreme cases, my Tira(spam some of her fancy-looking moves).

...Do I just suck at the game or what?
Sometimes I'm FORCED to dumb down my game, or else I lose...

I remember one time, I was getting beaten by an obvious total idiot...He never blocked, just mashed random attacks.
I didn't want to lose against THAT, so I had to think of something, I needed to change the situation.
So I started spamming 66A. Knockdown. You get up? Knockdown. You get up? knockdown. You get up? knockdown. (It was easy, he was always trying to get up with an attack...)

After a few 25 repetitions, I felt that I could play normally again for the rest of the match. But then the situation started looking bad again...

So I started spamming 66A again, and eventually won...

Most disturbing match ever...

True, some people who mashed attacks randomly can be even harder to beat than veteran players, because they are so unpredictable and don't care about their lifebar.

As the saying goes, "The scariest man of all is the one who doesn't fear Death". X-D

And of course, losing to a button-masher (which I used to, and still am now sometimes) is the worst **** that can happen to any SC player.
It totally crushes and destroys all your ego.

i totally agree with having to dumb down your game just gets boring, sometimes i refuse to and get beaten by a random button masher...

After playing so much online I feel that I can say that I don't have this problem anymore after having to deal with it so many times. That and Sophitia is the ultimate anti-scrub character. I almost feel like I'm getting worse now from playing ranked matches with players under lvl 60 or win % under 65 when our connection is 4 (of course there are exceptions). It might be wise to not play these people at all if there are better alternatives.
It's better to find matches in the matchmaking forums.
It's always a nice surprise when I see that the player that's been consistently beating me is on these forums. Today I randomly met Yagami Dark and Nofacekiller in a few ranked matches. Nofacekiller made me feel like the scrub :(

Yeah I know this scenario. It usually goes like this:

* Scrubby player joins game.
* Scrubby player attack attack attack!!!
* I do BB three rounds, one or two rounds perfect.
* I get PM that I'm a spamming noob who only know how to do one attack.

The End

yes, of course you have to dumb down your play for scrubs. think about it, the scrub isn't going to hesitate to attack, they aint gonna respond to any sort of mind game because they dont recognise the situation you put them in etc.

basically you can get away with spamming fast attacks (they're gonna attack at disadvantage) , using slow lows (they won't know its a low), unsafe strings (they're not gonna know its unsafe won't know how to punish anyway) etc.

oh and yea, they get kicked when the match is over, its no fun for them and no fun for me.

Setsuka is one of the players that I don't really have to dumb down my play for scrubs because I tend to rushdown my opponents with her anyway, so they just make my job quicker and easier. For scrubs, try this:

66B,A, 2A+B, 22A+B, A, 33B, Umbrella, repeat

Or... you could just knock them down once and 22A+B, A them to death. That works if you don't feel like looking fancy while you kill them.

Edit: I guess the 66B,A would be dumbing down my offense since I hardly ever use that against someone who knows what they're doing, but still... substitute any knockdown move and the rest of the string still provides the same results.
