Experience with Japanese players

Sorry to tell you this, but DuskBringer is in fact a scrub. He faced Dino and Oofmatic many times online and loses to them. He then claims that they were using 'cheap'/'scrub' tactics on him.

There was also talk on the caliburforums about him being the #1 internet scrub so here's the link: http://www.caliburforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34440.

I apologize for derailing this topic, but the truth must be told!

meh, I coulda gotten the name wrong... It mighta been Rising Dusk. I have a bad memory, lol. It happeneed last month sometime so my memory is hazy. I faced one of them, but the names seem to be so similar that I got em mixed up probably. Both offered me some good advice though.

Edit- Forgot the quotes

I can add to the fact that duskbringer is a huge scrub. After beating him multiple times he would send me loads of hate mail blaming on lag, using low attacks and other 'scrubby' tactics. He just knows how to play "each" character using a cycle of the same attacks in a loop.

Anyway what is different from the Japanese and us is.

They do not play side by side in tourney's. They play facing each other. This makes it tougher for them to 'read' their enemies.
Most of them play much more than we do.
Arcades are not dead in Japan so there is lots of competition thus lots of different fighting styles they are allowed to go against.

well to add to the topic yes Japan is full of SC players?? anyone who says different just hasnt been there.... Yes Akihabara was one of the best places to go... I used to play Dekka Cho and Kageh there almost every weekend in SC2... I lived there for 3 years granted there werent thousands of SC players but the ones that did play usually knew there shit and they knew how to piss you off like no other.... Japan screams DEFENSE AND CHEESE lol they play to win , but i loved it, as dude said it was an "EYE OPENER" anyone thats hardcore into any fighting game should defintely see japan one day... theres competition on every corner even in the smallest of arcades you can usually find one guy that will give you a run all day... Although i must say once you whip up on them they do tend to give up pretty easily.... Japan is awesome though cant wait to go back someday! Akihabara, Yokohama, Shinjuku, and Shibuya are usually the places to go... so ifyou travel there hit them up! usually cant miss the arcades some of them are 3 stories high.... and stop bringing duskbringer up everywhere... shit is getting as old as RAPE APPLES lol dumbass CY ;)

Yoshimitsu walks up to Ivy in a bar and says, "You're going to get laid tonight".

A bit surprised, she asks, "Really? How do you know that? Are you psychic?"

"No, I'm just stronger than you".

Possibly a new-guy question, but I'm a new guy. And I'm curious, how many of you have been to japan, or recently played japanese sc4 players (on an extended basis)? I heard akihabra (sp?) is the place to go for the best players and competition.

Oh those of you who have been, how do they play differently than us?
You are, indeed, a noob. And clearly you are fail. However, I am bored and will answer your stupid questions.

Yes, Akihabara is the place to go for SCIV action. They don't care that it is a console only release. They set that shit up in the middle of the street and play for hours and people who know whats good for them don't tell them otherwise.

FAIL!

There are good players all over. Yeah, some of the well known players are from the Tokyo area, (including Akihabara, I guess) but the SC scene revolves around tournaments. Those kids never get together to practice unless they live right down the street.

A couple of people to look for, though, if you do get over there to Tokyo: Oosaka - speaks English well, friendly, runs or assists in most of the Tokyo tournaments. TalimJP - American ex-pat (which is short hand for DESERTER), not great at the game, but knows everyone.

FYI - Osaka players are way better.

And how do they play differently? In the states, people use four or five moves and generally play with no honor. Japanese are like, "Fuck that weak ass strat, I'm using two moves and throwing. One of my two moves will be 2K" and play with no honor.

Also they all play Asta as a back up. Don't ask me why. They just do.

P.S. You get an F.

How are people like Koreans and Japanese so good at video games?

The main tip he gave me was to play as other characters and learn thier combos and movesets... Well I guess ill have to shelf nightmare for a bit, lol.

It's possibly because like I posted in the "help a noob lrn 2 play" thread the minimum understanding that they feel is necessary to claim knowledge of Soul Calibur, or any video game for that matter, is complete knowledge of the system, its weaknesses and the ways to abuse the system effectively. Americans tend to take a more relaxed "play for fun" approach whereas the minimum standard as taught by the Asian parents that they were raised by is a standard of perfection. Thus, asian players are constantly failing while they play badly, and American players are having fun.

You should appreciate the ability that you have to fail and have fun doing it, because in some cultures (Japan is a great example) historically failure itself wasn't a possibility until recently. They also overwork themselves to death and you're probably having a friggin ball playing like you do so I don't understand why you would ever want to join the group that cannot accept failure. The ability to accept limitations, even self-imposed ones, is far easier for Americans to do than Asians. Hope that helps.

It's probably part of his schtick.

If it was supposed to be funny he failed though. (See what I did there? Hurr hurr.)

i didnt bother reading all the posts. only the first few, but we asian people dont have a "win" button. we just grow extra fingers when we play fighting games =P

Getting good in competitive games is all about accessibility to (good) competition. In Asia, unlike in the west, people seem to have relatively better access to arcades and a gamer communities that surround it.

lol I was at one of those arcades this past summer... Club Sega in Akihabara (which had like 4+ stories... I can't remember, I went back down to 2nd floor to get on Tekken 6 and stayed there) and there was a smaller Club Sega I went to in Wakou. But yeah, I am a "decent" Tekken 5 player.... So I thought I'd somewhat hang with the people at the arcade playing Tekken 6.... It got so bad that one dude gave me 2 wins then came back and took the 3 in a row. I'll say Japanese players are definitely on top when it comes to competition, especially after that experience. xD

Archangel, +1 to lightening up, his entire post was funny.
Everything he said was a joke.
Aside from porn, the internet has humor too.

I'd beat any Jap player in any SC and any Power Stone. I dont care where you're from.
