How to port Soul Calibur III: Arcade Edition to PS2

Well, the way to port it is already described on the first post. But as I told you before, it won't work very well. The characters thumbnails don't match with the character you're going to choose.

I have no idea. I know that the guys at site that made the OLK Explorer (Ninjahacker.net) couldn't go on with the project because Tecmo didn't like how they were modding the DOA games as well and forced them to close the site.

So have there been any developments to make the game fully working on PS2? (Ivy etc) Or is there at least a way to play it on Mame? I have the necessary files but I just get a black screen after it warns me that the game will have no sound.

Hi everybody

I ve come to think of something:

1/
SoulCalibur III Namco SLUS-21216 10/25/05 US
SoulCalibur III Namco SCES-53312 11/18/05 EU
SoulCalibur III Namco SLPS-25577 11/23/05 JP
SoulCalibur III (Greatest Hits) Namco SLUS-21216GH US

There are known differences between SC3 PAL/JP version and US version. And some of them directly affect Ivy and Yoshi move set.

My question is: What version do you mod: US or PAL/Jap one?
If it is one of the US ones, maybe you should try with the japanese one, which may be the very one that have been used by namco teams for making the arcade edition version of the game. I don't know, but there's a chance that it would solve the problem if Yoshi and Ivy move list work differently...

2/

There are 3 version of the actual arcade game: A ,B and C. Which one do you use for the mod?
I suppose the A one is closer to the PS2 one than the B one, and that the B one is closer than the C one. This opinion could be wrong, though.

As anyone tried to replace Ivy and Yoshi movesets in the PS2 Japanese version with the ones extracted from the A version of the arcade game (and B and C)?

3/ If problem lies in the size of the files, is it possible to remove 5 of the 6 outfits of Ivy and Yoshi (2 outfits/ 3 color for each of them) to gain more room or isn't there any link between the respective size of those files?
OK that's just crap I know... lol. But I have to figure everything to get this to work.

Anyway though, that would be amazing to get a proper release of this mod with the new health bar, the modded stages and every character fixed but Ivy and Yoshi! I think the first "release" did not include all the stuff has now been discovered.

1) I have the PAL version of the PS2 game.
2) The only version I've found so far is version A.
3) No, there is no way to remove files. You can only replace them.

Never had this problem, so I have no idea what could cause it, sorry.

hmmm I've had some pretty unsuccessful attempts. The command prompt doesn't work at all! When I use it chdman opens and closes instantly. So I'm stuck here :'( I would ask for a video tutorial? That's a lot of work in itself though. Anyway I cannot wait for the finished result ! ARCADE AMY OMGOSH.

I am just trying to to play this on mame. I am having a difficult time.

"Look for Soul Calibur III and download the CHD file (not the other romset). It is the MAME format DVD image file, and you need to extract it. MAME includes an application called CHDMAN you have to use to do so. Open it with the command prompt typing this command:
chdman extractraw -o output.raw -i input.chd "

When i type that in it doesn't recognize the command. How do I extract the CHD file?

The CHD file must be on the same directory as the CHDMAN. Also, "output.raw" must be replaced with the name of the file you will get (you can choose it yourself) and "input.chd" must be replaced with the name of the CHD file.

Here's Inferno with his own weapons and fighting style. The stage is also from the AE.
