Ivy General Submissions for Discussion

Even if the character isn't OP, they're ugly as shit to watch and I can only imagine how unfun they are to play against. At the very least 66[A] shouldn't have lethal hit, and her ground throw shouldn't track as much and should have RO range reduced.
I only saw it ring out once, Ritual was the only one who tried that but with the two specific ranges and constant positioning, idk about knockback reduction. I didn't even get to see what could be done, if anything, after a wallsplat. It would be sad to remove something touted in one's own reveal trailer (33(A) lethal hit).

Honestly I don't even care if it keeps lethal hit or not, but something needs to be done to de-emphasize 66[A] and her low grab from her game because they're so oppressive, and obviously what you want to be aiming for anytime they're not right next to you (In which case you use SS, soul charge for free getaway and powered up moves, or her busted CE). She reminds me of T7 Dragunov.

There already is something that de-emphasizes 66[A] - if you do it closer you are wide open to get whiff punished... that move should only be used against characters trying to get away... and no one escapes Ivy, finally the range she deserves... she was in need of these new moves... SC V range for her was terrible

Up close shes medíocre compared to other characters... she cant use SC or CE all the time to defend herself... just RE, which isnt garanteed benefit and GI like others

Keep her the way she is. Buff others if needed

Eh, she can definitely lose her unbreakable throws IMO. I hate that those were ever a thing.

Unfortunately they did not give us much time to test things at EVO because most of the time was reserved for the tournaments/streaming. A few things I discovered though:

1AA and 214B can combo after 4B7. I was able to do 9B+K, 4B7, 214B.

6KB at longer range launches them in the air towards you for lick, 4, or 4B7 follow up.

8A+BB seemed to be a better option than lick after 8BB/WRBB, it puts them into range for 66[A] and 3A+G/B+K mixups. Ivy lick brings the opponents close, which Ivy is at a disadvantage.

The input for SS is not as strict as we believed, I was able to do it by spinning the joystick(I was actually trying to do CS).

Soul Charge 6AA, the last hit makes them spin on the floor for a second, enough time for a follow up.

SE 6B knocking up a mid air opponent does not toss them high enough for a 4[A] follow up.

9B+K on a mid air opponent does not throw them further away or ring them out like in SC4.

The low throw is unbreakable as far as I'm aware.
You can block the low throw(why would be able to break what you can block?), jump and step out of it(fwd and back work better than left right). If yoy tty to step after the circle pops up you will get caught.

I've been asking this about NM and sieg's low grabs for years. Additionally, those aren't safe on block, do less damage than ivy's low grab, and have no range.

Well...sig and nm can do that throw at point blank, pick you up from ground(ivy cant), kills step, RO, sets up and willing to bet its faster so pick two you'd like to lose and maybe they'll do the same.

If you could break ivy's low throw, then you have to give her another option like Sieg and NM (for those two you have to guess if they are throwing you to the front or back), otherwise the move is useless...
And like it was posted above, Sieg and NM low grabs have plenty of advantages, even though its close range

If you can break Ivy's low grab, then you are just going to press that button all day whenever you are at that range, the move won't even have a purpose any more.

It's like being able to break an air throw from Astaroth and Taki.

Her damage seems to be on pair with other characters.

I'm unsure about the low grab. It does look really annoying because it catches side step and might work as a tech trap. However, maybe after a while people will learn to block it on reaction?

66(A) LH combo on the other hand... I admit when I first saw it, I thought that was a bit ridiculous. I believe 3(A) would be a better candidate for a CH combo

I just watch this video:

Ivy is now turned into a cheap character. How can you recognize the different between 2B+K and 2A+G which one require to stand block and one require to sit and guard.

Both moves has the same animation, what's going on here ? Here is the comparison

2A+G (need to block low)

2A+G.gif

2B+K (need to stand block)
2B+K.gif

Look at LinkRKC abuse the 2A+G move. It catchs step safe on distance and no one can't recognize the different between 2A+G and 2B+K

Is this some kind of joke Namco ?

I'm afraid that I have to agree. :/ Maybe if some property of the move gets changed, everyone can get happy. I want my queen to be superior, but also fair in her rule

Wasn't 2B+K a special mid in SCV? Did they change it in SCVI?
Can someone confirm if 2B+K is not a s-mid any more?

You have to keep in mind 2/3B+K is very easy to SS. But 2A+G either stays this good or makes the whole mixup weak.

Why would u need to duck when u can very easily step this move or jump?

I only recall from the first team battle at CEO (I think) where PW played Sophitia and attempted to duck the low grab but got LH by the mid. So I think they've changed it. It's part of what makes this mix-up so deadly.

I still maintain it'd still be a good mixup if they simply made I breakable but nerfed nothing else. Throws generally aren't considered bad even though is the standard for them. Even Kilik/Seong Mina's low attack throws could be broken.

1+2_3B+K was always Special Mid in past games. Non Ivy players just want to be crybabies like Talim players because Ivy is a strong character again.

By the way with Mi-na confirmed, Remember This.

Damn, I dunno man. I must've hurt a loved one of yours in a past life or some shit, lol. You've been taking petty shots at me since 2012 dude.
