Ivy SCIV->SCV Changes

Before ppl panic, SC1 Ivy is still solid char. She is very similar to SC2 minus all the stance (SS,ST,SE). Hopefully they keep SE after seeing WP3(B)>JF B series. It probably means WP is part of SW just as we saw in the Comi Con demo.

If she will be more similar to SC1, I think that mean more move are going to be hold inputs if you want to go to whip version. Like AA if you want to stay in SW, and A[A] to go to WP.

Well I never liked SC4 ivy but when I played sc2 ivy, she was able to run when in certain stances. And her design was far more greater than sc4 and 5 but I don't know if she is easier in sc2 or not cuz I never mained her.

Strange, SS used meter but CS didn't...?

Wonder what the second stance will be. If Sword's the first stance then I hope the second will be really flashy, like one of the twirls from SC2. Hope it's not something like SE that'll hinder her movement and blocking ability.

While I don't know a lot about Ivy, I found it awesome how she could change her weapon state EVEN IF SHE WAS STILL ATTACKING, which added even more possibilities for comboes. Hopefully, this will still be implemented in SC5, even if theres only sword and whip state. On another sidenote, she has wicked fast stepping speed, which made it look very confusing to play against her online... o_e|||
It's like after the round starts, she could grab you in a split second, which I found rather annoying, but remember this is online, so "lag-jabberwocky" is expected to happen. :P

I gonna talk about graphics of SC5 ;

Game looks pretty much the same because of that extreme glowing textures, i mean some of the clothes supposed to absorb light and supposed to look mat rather than shiny. Also hair in SCV looks pretty much the same as SC4, looks like made of polyester imo.

Also those weapon trails in SC4 and 5 are blocking the sight too much. It should look like DMC4 tails.

I agree that visual effects can be over-done.

Now the weapons leave huge glowing trails. And your character even glows blue or red based on the new meter system. And every time you get air-combo'd it makes a magical huge crunk of concrete fly away when you land.

Sometimes there is just too much going on...

True, those blue and red glowings must glow only on weapon, not the whole body.

I know, but I doubt Taki will return as a playable character in SC5. But let's leave Taki discussion in her SC4 forum section.

Regarding Ivy, I hope Daishi's twitter post means we'll be able to switch stances by holding down the A or B buttons when attacking. I know you could do it with her A,A and B,B combos on the second attack but it would be really nice if more attacks had that property.

That's a fantastic idea. They could just make your weapons super-glow... with power!
Weapon Soul Charge!

I suggest you customize Natsu with a dark brown ponytail style and play her if Taki doesn't show up. They both seem to share a HUGE number of the same moves. I will be utterly disappointed if Taki is a playable character and then shares the same moves with Natsu. That would only make Natsu another "bonus" character like the pathetic ones in SC4.

Hi guys. New things I noticed from the video and some old stuff:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjSyPNbEV-A&feature=player_embedded

- There is a different input for command throws (at 0:07-0:09 you can see the ivy player trying to do the motion)
- CS has old SS starting animation. This is a massive nerf because the range of old iCS is GONE
- the old CL A,A+K neckgrab is guaranteed on CH after some move (someone IS reading us after all) which looks like CL 6A
- to me it seems that moves have different properties depending if you hold the button or not. Example: She does old CL 66A and then the same move into another one that looked like CL 33A
- old SW 6{B] seems to have the GC effect using the meter
- she did old SE A236A (GC again, just like old SE A+B) after "WP" 33B]]
- Old WP 33B into SE 5HIT JF is back it seems. If it's like in SC3:AE this is gonna be a nice whiff punish combo.

If you could do both throws from either Sword or Whip, then CS getting an SS animation is actually a buff, not a nerf.

How exactly would that be a buff if the range is 2-3 times smaller? also SS animation is much closer to the way normal throws look, so it's gonna be easier to break. I hope that maybe they just switched the animation and now SS is gonna have old CS startup. We will see.

If you're comparing it to the range of SC2 iCS, then yes, that's absolutely a nerf. However, if it's SC4 iCS, I'd rather get the same throw animation (though not necessarily SS) to make it the throw break more ambiguous.

Well right now the worst case scenario I can think of is that SS now has a normal throw startup like in the recent videos.

By the way, SC2's CS had the smallest range of all CS variations. Not to mention it was i20+ making it much slower than normal throws. SC4 iCS is closer to SC3 (which is very good)
