the way it is is fine imo. She gets it more likely for less damage. Other chars get it rarely for bigger damage. Its well balanced.

I can't help but read this quote and think of the comparison between say SCIV Seong Mina (broke guard more often and does less damage) and SCIV Cervantes (almost never broke guard but did tons of damage). And I'm sure we all know the canyon sized gap between those characters in terms of balance, lol.

But in all seriousness, I do understand what you're trying to say here.
 
True, well balanced, but it's no (not in the slightest) concurrence to so much imba damage shit in that game. :)

It's annoying that some guys (not you) vote against every buff for Leixia without giving any reasons or having thought about her possibilites and problems. In a vacuum, she looks very good, but in the SC5-environment she's really weak, especially with regard to how well other charaters (almost everyone) do.

Oh, and btw, I stopped playing her as well. Who can blame us...?
 
I refuse to stop playing her no matter what. If she's Rock-tier for the rest of this game's life, I'll still be there, guessing right 10x more often than you and winning (sometimes).

I'm hoping Namco didn't blow all their patching funds on this silly 1.o3 patch, but even if they did, I'm not gonna quit playing Leixia. If I ever pick up an alt, it won't be until after they re-release the game (ala Super Soul Calibur V) or do a major update with several DLC characters (Talim, Zasalamel, Seong Mina, Setsuka, etc).

Just my 2 cents.
 
5. Viola/Amy/ Xianghua SC3:
You think that if Leixia had like 5dmg more on same of her combos (mostly her launchers), she'd be top tier?
Imo, she wouldn't because her damage output would still be the lowest in the game, she hardly has any zoning-control at mid/long range, she has weak throws, no good mix-up lows (except for 2K and WS A+B), bad whiffpunishment,... And all of the other three characters are/were good at these things, too.

When did I EVER say.. that I think that way?

My "NO" in the vote thread referred to GENERAL damage increase.. Because that is EXACTLY the treatment that Viola got from pre-patch -> post-patch.. and EXACTLY the treatment Amy got from SC3:AE>SC4. The question was phrased in a very vague manner, I replied according to how the question is phrased to me, as the voter.

5 DMG more off her launchers? Sure... her launchers are pathetic.. I often call them chicken scratches, ask Yuan... Give her 5... make them clean hit for 10. Fine by me... What I do not want is your typical "General Damage" increase that Namco is known for.. "Oh she's got too low damage? Let's change this 10 damage here to 30 damage"... "Oh her damage was "really low" in sc3:AE? Ok.. well in SC4 everyone's damage was nerfed so let's just keep hers the way it already is..." She is designed to be a pokey annoying character, anything above a really miniscule bump like 5 damage will affect her character design greatly.. Thus the HELL NO to the general damage buff. Heck I'll give a HELL NO to any character suggested for a "General Buff". Maybe even Raph.

And I happen to like Leixia's design as it is.. so yeah. I voted NO for that, I really don't see the problem there.
And if anyone else would like to call me out for my post.. Go ahead... I won't be replying.

1. How does CH 66BB -> CE compare on the damage for 1 meter though?
I'll be honest here, my opinion is not based on how I know Leixia, it's based on how I fight Leixia... And whenever I get broken she HAS CE.. which is why I hate getting guard broken so much.. and from what I can recall (and what I gather from reading your post).. She doesn't have much other place to use her meter now does she? It's not hard to visualize her having meter when she's guard broken right? (And like I said, this is ALWAYS the case whenever I see LX break guard)

2. Damage off Horizontals.. I was specifically referring to the 44A series and the AA BE in addition to her guard meter. How would you behave when your meter is flashing red Kalas? Would you try to move more often? Just guard maybe? Or would you stand there and block? This is a my favorite part of Leixia's.. 44A series and AA BE series is just too damn scary when your gauge is red.. When I move around, I risk eating the 44A (or any other horizontal) If I think you're going to throw out a horizontal and block, I risk guard break yet again. Are there other characters that can put you in this situation? Yes... but can they do it revolving around a pretty safe horizontals (Highest damage one being a mid)? I wouldn't say so. This is where I find Leixia the most annoying because I feel it to be damn near impossible to manipulate how she breaks your gauge (Be it saving it or breaking it.) Buffing damage off these moves/series IMO will make her too strong in this one department.

Honestly, i don't even know how much impact this voting thing will even have. I added my contributions with Kalas and Hyrul, so if nothing changes we'll know namco didn't listen and/or already made up their minds.

To clarify, no I don't play Leixia.. Kalas asked me to come here so here I am.. Sorry if that offends anyone.
I do however play against a very strong player who used to main Xianghua in SC3 and SC4.. and he plays enough Leixia in 5 for me to appreciate Leixia's design the way it is..

Also might help to clarify that I belong to the boat that supports nerfing things that are too strong as compared to buffing things that are too weak. I find there is less room for error in the balancing process. Personal Preference, but that's what voting is about yes?

I guess we didn't understand each other very well. The "general damage buff" I want is not what you don't. If you get what I mean.
I imagine a lot of people have Viola 1.01 --> 1.02 buffs in mind when they read "general damage buff" which is totally not what I want for Leixia! The term in the balance thread is quite irritating and doesn't specifically express what I want to be done with her.
Since we're talking about it: I personally want an average damage buff for 3B (20 ---> at least 26) and a slight damage buff (4 points each) on 22B, FC 3B, 3B+K, 66AA, 44B and B-throw. That'd already make me happy.

When i say "balanced" i only mean the Guard Burst game as a separated game engine :) Not her or other chars in general....:P

Its not perfect but its not as retarded as SC4 Ivy or SC4 Voldo who got free rounds for spamming moves.

Why doesn't Leixia's 3B or 22B have clean hit haha.. Clean Hit moves are supposed to be like "Signature moves"!!! Yet these two are classic Xianghua staples and could definitely use the damage boost!
 
Nah, you're good man. I was just curious. We've had this SA flooded with a few players who, either aren't known to play as/against Leixia seriously, (or at all), and want her to stay as she is for various "theory fighter" reasons. Didn't want to have to go back down that road.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. But I guess this game's system doesn't really provide us the luxury of separating the different parts of the engine, unfortunately.

Basic buffs:
44B - 28-30 Dmg

66AA - 30 Dmg

WS B BE - no Stun on first hit, when you hit it without evading moves

3B ~ 3B+K should be around 50-52 Dmg

FC3B ~ 3B+K 56-60dmg

6KK - maintain distance on hit

maybe 5 points Dmg buff on 8B+K

Really, i think this is more than enough.
 
If someone asked me if they'd want the same kind of buffs for Leixia that Viola got, I would say hell the fuck no as well. That would straight up break her. I am behind all the small damage buffs that have been proposed. I also think AA BE needs to be NC, and I'd like a few of the moves from 1.01 back. (6KK, 22K, 33B)

I've mentioned a couple times in other threads a way that I think we could gracefully fix WS B BE. The biggest problem with it in 1.01 was that it did so much at once. So why not restore the immediate vertical evasiveness and reverse the current scaling model so that we get the dodge or the damage, but not both?

If they do anything to WS B(BE) I'd say give the damage back, and screw the 1 frame evasion. I mean, what's the logic behind an anti-mixup tool that you still have to guess on?

To be completely honest, this is the best idea I've heard in a long time. Honestly. I'd even be willing to nerf that idea as far as not even giving damage on non-dodges, because, really, it's all about vertical evasiveness.

I want WR B back to pre-patch as well, though. That's why I think we might have to take less damage on both dodge and non-dodge.
 
Yes I'm pretty sure she sticks to Viola now. Not saying she completely dropped Leixia, but I don't think Leixia is Kayane's go to tournament chraracter anymore.

That's...beyond depressing. She was part of what inspired me to play Leixia. Not because she was so good, but because I watched her play Xianghua in SC4 so...dedicated. It was amazing to watch. But wow, even she gave up.

She's still so much better with leixia though. She should drop viola and stick to her main.

I don't think it's going to happen. She probably doesn't like paying to have to fight the system as well as the opponent, and I don't blame her. The reason I personally play her is, because even though she's getting dropped left and right, I'm still a million years better with her than I am with other characters, because she fits my style. And I don't think that can change any time soon.
 
Exactly how I feel. With both Leixia and Xianghua, just as their moves were supposed to flow, I feel as though I do also when I play them just because they feel so smooth in movement and while attacking. It's actually almost graceful, that was until I used Xianghua's taunt and smacked my ace all the time XD
