Less-used Yoshi Moves

Downward trajectory verticals it seems, or it may be mid verticals in general, cannot remember. It's all style, sad damage for a UB i think :)

Bah, got it to finally work. Yeah, sad damage. I expected a kangaroo kick at the end, but I'm assuming you have to put the input in for the followup kangaroo kick.

yea the move is trash sadly (it could have had some useful potential like LM's crawl stance parry...). Just have to press k not the whole input for the Kangaroo kick though (think of it as him going into an unblockable tiger shark really...

I've used it once effectively in casuals against Hilde. aGIed Hilde's C3B. Lolo found the only semi-practical application for it so far. When in face up, feet towards you can B+K to get into MED. In his regionals he went from grounded, to MED, and then MED A+Bed a vertical that was supposed to hit him grounded. Risky, though.

how often do you guys use Rainbow Drop (214 A+G) as a regular throw? i mean NOT in a Ring Out situation? it does decent damage. i'm gonna start using it more often.

well its not a "perfect" choice because you lose the wake you get from normal A+G. But if you are trying to get some kind of position, just need the damage or something then its a good choice. Honestly its just something you mix in every once in a while but there isn't too much of a point in making sure you ALWAYS use it. Yoshi loves getting ppl on the ground near him and rainbow doesn't do that.

EDIT (added): also I think I might just want to add really quick that trying to grapple near the edge is not always the best choice. Good players will quickly say to themselves "well...he probably will try and grapple me with A ...so I'll break that" or they might even duck and punish your grab attempt for a ringout of their own. I know its not your point but I just wanted to mention that in case you were under the impression that rainbow should be used often near the edge (if anything you should be trying to get a position switch cuz yoshi's back ringout game is trash and you don't want to get punished off the edge either...).

Rainbow drop does RO from a decent distance. Learn the max distance and try to stick with using it from there only if you're going to attempt it. Just don't use it with your back completely against the edge or against someone who can get a RO opportunity from ducking your throw attempt.

and don't learn "real" max.. cuz sometiems he decides to randomly kill himself at that...make sure its clear who gets the win for "max range" lol....silly yoshi and his accidental suicides

Gator: Oh? Never had that problem. The only thing I see happen at max range is Yoshi drops the opponent out of the ring, but he stays in.

lol... sometimes... i don't know what the issue with it is or if its character specific or what.. but sometimes it glitches and when he does the weird hit where they normally would go off and u'd be okay... it does the reverse and somehow they are okay on the stage and u are gone. Honestly its not much to worry about as its only happened to me twice ..maybe three times in total and the other weird edge glitch in yoshi's favor has happened a bunch.

I know there must be other yoshi's that have had it happen to them....

(and as a random aside to you hajime... you never got back to me about a tourney in ac over break..not that I could have made it in the end...lol..but thats beside the POINT!!... but good job at stealing someone else's spot at someone else's regional :) ... better late than never).

and on track... nobody uses yoshi's tekken taunt as a juggle online!!! nobody!! you can get a ringout from ANYWHERE... you see seigfried tech jump DOOM WAVE...

Asty about to jump at you ??? DOOM WAVE!!!

come on ppl..where is the love for doom wave

that used to happen to me often in sc2 where i would do the rainbow drop on someone near the edge and i would be the one to RO. but not in sc4

so far as doom wave.... i haven't been focusing on the random moves (although technically they aren't random cuz you can time them with the clock).... but if the doom wave can RO from anywhere, then it's worth taking a look at.

He's referring to the fact that the taunt can hit and has a similar bouncing, non-ACable effect to that of 44bB. The hit box is ridiculously small, though. That's why the opponent has to jump into you. Kinda like trying to hit someone with A+K nowadays. =(

I've been including 22A in my game a bit with a bit of success...not sure how it works for everyone else. It makes a nice warp/GI setup. Pretty decent for antistep and safe. Too much AAs or 6BBs vs 66A got me down.

I hear ya. Hitting 22A on non-CH can get you a free throw attempt sometime. ^_^ I like using 22A after hitting 9K or 22K. It can barely clip them after they get up.

how do you do that one move where Yoshi kinda runs away really quickly.. I only ever see it done after the match is over.. but it seems to me like it would be such an awesome move for messing with your opponents head.

Its one of his Iron Fist moves, I believe there is an entire list of all of them around here somewhere .
:]

I find myself not using 46A+K(Soul Siphon)simply because I have to be close and it has a slight delay, which sucks online.

I think you mean 6[A+K]4, unless you want to give them your health.
But since you don't like the backhand, just B+G4. Same effect.

EDIT- Actually, I'll use the backhand soul siphon twice in a row, since no one expects it. They'll definitely duck the 3rd one though. So keep it at 2.

Actually, ive been using A+K for frequently now. I'm not going to lie, it has it's uses now. When I attack with a low negative move that gets me close to them, I throw it out. So far, i've always gotten the stun after it and have not had to worry about getting hit. I don't use it often, however, and the damage output is not spectacular. Also, I only use it on close-range characters like Tira, Taki, Yoshi, Setsuka, etc.

It does, for me at least, have it's uses now.
