Maxi Video Thread

i try to use AA and 6A exclusively to punish. on hit, AA>RC A will interrupt most things and plus you can loop AA>RC PSL3>LI for LI B TC\TS goodness. similarly, on hit 6A is actually pretty good; RO A is uninterruptable, RO B will stuff most TC attempts, and RO K will jump over 2As and other lows. some characters have better options vs 6A than others; nightmare happens to not have a good answer for 6A on hit, which was why i use it a lot in that video. but yeah, on block those moves aren't great; i try to use them exclusively to punish or interrupt and never as offense starters.

i try not to overuse 66A since the second hit is ridiculously easy to duck, and even on hit 66A's damage is kind of crappy. 66B+K is good and deals a lot of soul damage but it has a huge blind spot to maxi's left, so i try to use it when i think the opp will stand there and just block it. my favorite things to close range are 33A, 33bA, and 44AB. 11B is good too and i try to use it when i can, but i prefer to move forwards to get into maxi's good range.

Good point about the AA to LI B, i'll remember that since I love that move especially when the k,k hits and the opp air controls putting me into back turned b+k. Yummy!

1,1 b is much safer then those distance covering moves you mentioned, let them come to you since your the boss against most characthers at long range with that move. Keep your distance, keep 8way walking or stop and walk immidiately again to fish out a failed long range vertical from your opponent. All failed long range moves are punishable with 1,1 b. From my experience this is better then trying to cover distance with your mentioned moves since they have half the range that 1,1 b does. The moves you mentioned puts you into an unsafe zone where characters like Nightmare have better long range options.

Keep them as far away as the 1,1 b reaches, its quite fun, its a win win situation for you against most characters. When they get tired of that annoying shit, then you should use the moves you mentioned as they approach you.

Against Nightmare, however, staying at long range and trying to whiff punish with 11B is a losing proposition. His long range game is extremely dangerous.

I like your Maxi HDIPTG. :)

Only one thing I'll point out is that you haven't been punishing Mitsu's 2KB with a more damaging move.

maxi video thread

AWESOME SHIT!! i want to know how you did that final move at the end of the 1st round!! that was sick! other than that you play just like me. except your better at the gi's than me

4[A+B] 33_99bA RC A?

Good video other than missing a few combos.

HILARIOUS caption. rofl.

I liked your Maxi a lot. You did very well, despite being unfamiliar with Lolo's package of tricks. I couldn't have done better.

Does PSL3 work well after he blocks BL B and he tries to 6K2K you? You did it on the second vid.

I played with some guys SCIV and they were GIing all my RC aB or RC aA set ups easily, beacuase the moves are really slow and the speed is really similar. I think I won't use those anymore. That's why I would like a low from those cancels, like RC aK, or a way to cancel the attacks, like RC abG. They can also GI easily RC B after, let's say, a+bG as ground hit or when RC A hits.

Thx for your prop Fhwoarang , XDDD

basically, go to PSL3 just my usual strategy , I use a lot not only because anti lolo's 6K2K but all other match ups lol.
I really hope you guys can make more videos, the last time I saw was regional matches.

Fiendchi: As someone who plays both these characters, I found those matches very entertaining for both side. A LOT of 3A+K and in earlier matches PSL4/5 shifts that I personally found questionable XD. Looked like Lolo was going for quite a few fancy, smancy JF combos. iMCF is most likely one of the biggest problems for Maxi is this fight, cause it can punish quite a bit of Maxi's attacks mid sting, or in some situations where you think you're safe. Especially when its RCC'd. But dude, the Maxi play was great and you did pretty damn good, Props to you.

Yoshi vs Maxi is hilarious is my eyes, Maxi needs to weave in and out of close and mid range while Yoshi wants to be in your face, yet has some tools to deal with Mid-range.

Thread revival!!

The boy and I decided to make another, Father vs Son maxi vs maxi grudge match. With much improvment to his game (and to mine) it will not be easy for either side. Stay tuned to see who comes out on top!!

this kid is only 9 years old. Hes better than most maxi players I meet. Hes a great sparring partner!!
Comments and sugestons encouraged!!!

watching some of these now. there wicked really make me want to play more people but my internet is awful and online is a joke cos of if :( i dont have any offline comp either so im kinda stuck and so out of practice its unreal :(

im just commenting as i watch and ill keep adding when i can.

but in general you kid and you play maxi amazingly. its very very impressive to see his grasp of maxi and his skill.

some very very good games between you.

-----------------------------------------------------------
FIRST VID

your kids BLA PSL4 LI{B} is nice looking i would do LI{B}:G ROAK though just cos i like the trickyness (also he needs to hit confim the LI{B} if he gets it then delayed BLKK (or BLB) is combo

some nice punishing by both of you. especailly the ducked BLKK punish with WRKK

that GI of 66B4 was so sweet :D very very nice lil hot rod only thing is after GI i like to either go for 6A+B (is re GIable) or 4{A+B} for those that love to reGI

After the ROK{K} bounce follow up with 66B+K rather than the 4B LOK. the 66B+K is not ACable

watch out with the 6BBB unless its just the last hit is really risky. and it can all be hit confirmed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SECOND VID
always remeber 3A is shakeable and really go for it. if you shake it (which is not to hard to do) you get good advantage.

the last BTB+K will only connect after a full B+K;B;B;B;A if you mis a just then dont do it. (imo)

wow he really worked the soul gauge beautifully in that second match.

the GIing is good, so watch your predictablity dave

i think that after WRKK A+Bg will combo and leave you in RC too :D

use 66K more its very good. and nearly nutural on block.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
THIRD VID

try to guard buffer 8way run moves. (66B+K 66K) it gives less away then a double tap imo

CH 33B PSL3 LOK better than CH 33B BLKK

after blocked ROA{K} think throw. same as LI{B} blocked (lol dave did this later in that match lol and lil hot rod tried to so i take it back lol)

shake that 3A again. its important

watch you BLA dave its not a great move imo (though you get away with it mostly just be careful)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i cant watch more atm but will when i can.

thank you both they are great vids and really inspire me to play more again.

Lil hot rod has trouble with 2 things.....punishing properly on GI (which that little bastard gets lucky with those) and hit confirming CH33B for the LOK. Believe me everytime he hits me with that he tries to LOK it but with his age and skill level....Im happy with what he has.

Something I should have cleared up at first. He and I have rules when we play. I am not allowed to GI at all. and I have to keep the throws to a minimum, but he breaks the throws I do throw out so I think that rule is unfair. Its under debate I wouldve been GI'ing EVERY RO A he throws at me. But the way that kid GI's me.....its really amazing. He will GI almost every 33B attempt. He can GI 33bA RC A on reaction, and now he can GI that 4A6B4, at least he can GI the last hit of that. Just shows you where his mind is and how well he knows maxi.

Im so impressed with the little guy I had to show him off. Im told by the misses to take it easy on him, but I dont (for the most part) I have to work to get wins with this kid. Im thinking of putting him the next tourney just to see him NOT come in last!!
Thanx for the tips twiggy, Can 66B+K be bufferd from RO K[K]? I have real trouble with double tap moves, I just cant do it. I cant even RC A after CH 33B. Ive tried and tried and it just doesnt happen.

HRD

yeah after ROK{K} the 66B+K is easy to pull off, it does buffer. like if you hold guard and buffer the dash.

ill look at the rest of the vids later at lunch and put up more stuff. (ill be honest i been looking at lil rods skills more than yours. its realyl very impressive at 9 to know how to play him in such depth)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
FORTH VID

nice GI reaction on LOK but sometimes pays to just duck it

really gotta get that 3A shake

6AA duck throw FTW :D

4{A+B} 33bA RCA best follow up. then 236K or 236A wake up

after FC3AAA on hit either 2A or just guard imo
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
FITH VID

nice timing on the WL dave

nice delay timing on the BL{B} BLKK lil rod

dont leave 4BA4 go through the whole animation (especailly at range) i prefer to cancel it after 2 hits then in to LIB

GIing that 33B on reaction is great. next thing is to learn the best follow up (4{A+B} combo for delay or 6A+B combo for non re GI and on JI 6BBB)

again dave stick with the 66B+K after ROK{K} its easy to do and has good damage and RO potential

YAY there it was CH 33B PSL3 LOK nice lil rod

after 44AB try PSL1 RCA its good.

after aK or ROKA impact (but cearful if they learn your gonna do that)

gaaaaaaaaaaar shake 3A lol its really needed you take so much damage there and its easy to escape. dave your a bad man abusing that.

at wall edge after 3B ROB RCK stop and do 3AAA then mix up

really gotta nail that 4{A+B} 33bA RCA every time .

A 9-year old with mindagmes? Wtf is this madness! Main thing your son needs to work on is shaking stuns. No more free damage. Great matches. I wish I could use Maxi like that.
