My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

I don't even watch the show and i know people that are in to that show. Just sickens me.
Which means you're dumb.
Being sickened by people that watch something you don't is an act of close minded fools.

Having any kind of negative view towards something that you don't know about, let alone dislike, is retarded. Especially if it's just a form of entertainment.

Example:
If I thought sports are trash. Most are boring to play and twice as bad to watch. People who watch it are just watching others make millions doing something that doesn't deserve it. The only sports that should make that kind of income are things like NASCAR because they have high end machines to take care of.
It just sickens me that i know people who like sports.

How fucking stupid would you think that person?
That's you right now and anyone who blindly hates something just because it is what it is, or hates the fans for liking it.

Hell my example gave more details or reasons behind why i'd figuratively hate sports than most people do about MLP or any game/show on the internet.

Because people are stupid and need to get over it.

Shit nerd culture was viewed as being wastes for time or for shut ins for SO LONG, yet look at the world we live in now. Because people realize it either doesn't matter, or that it's actually good/cool/awesome and at the very least don't shun it for no reason.

For females, it's called Pegasisters. I don't know why people in my age range actually like this show.

Think of it this way: you watch any Pixar films? Toy Story, The Incredibles, Wreck it Ralph to name a few...these all look they're made for kids, which they are. But there's a depth to them that sometimes only older audiences can pick up on on a more conscious level. I'd say MLP is more of a FAMILY cartoon than it is a children's cartoon.

Okay okay, fine. You didn't have to insult my intelligence, it was just my opinion. Maybe I am seeing things from one perspective but yeah I do enjoy watching Toy Story, Wreck it Ralph, etc. So all in all, my apologies for being judgmental.

I wasn't actually insulting your intelligence. It just irks me when someone says or does something so unjustly negative toward something for no reason. Hence your Sickens Me comment and my reply.

I mean WHY? There's no good reason to do that, it's like the base line for Hate Crimes.

MorsCode said it better though lol, i just went nuts why he explained it in a better way.

I didn't even understand the point of this post lol.

You've never seen it so you can't judge.
It looks lame because it's a show for kids.
Got That ^

Yet after learning that there's a fanbase called Bronies for it you choose to leave it entirely instead of seeing why there's a fanbase for it?
Don't understand the outcry statement at all.
Don't Got It^

Was it the name Bronies?
If there was a name for Adventure Time fans would you stay away from that show too?

Mmm well from what i read it has a hint of shows from the 90's and for me in the 90's i mostly played games. I didnt enjoy dexter laboratory, PPG, and them other shows. Only one i liked was johnny bravo and a select few so I see the show not truly appealing to me. So instead of wasting my time I just wont judge, my curiosity really consist of why older men go gaga for the show really.

Going gaga for the show is understandable as I have. I'm friggin 25 and I'm in love with it mainly because what I usually prefer watching has to have psychologically daunting factors, has to be dark and gritty, and even cynical. What I love about MLP is something bright and colourful that still speaks volumes without having to be gloomy or worse, over preachy. It HAS its moments of being sorta dark, but not enough to break my Ying and Yang for entertainment.

Aside from the 90's feel and video game references, again I just think it's a rare cartoon that has a lot of heart that not many cartoons these days have. It promotes good moral values and has a message, rather than your standard animated hijinx.

Buying the toys is another story, as I still feel compelled to even judge the SAME fanbase as me that has taken their fandom on another level. The only way I can rationalize it being okay to be a pony collector is if you've got some badass action figures of Spawn or something to contrast your kaleidescope of a personality.

This was made by the writers/directors/animators of all those 90s toons lol. Literally the same groups that did those cartoons, as well as other current toons like Adventure Time and Kick Buttowski, does MLP.
Fans of those cartoons are now in their 20s. Simple math lol.
Not to mention other references in the show from the 80s and earlier. Not just games, but straight movie tie-ins, songs and titles of things are in the show. Fun to just find them.

So like i've said before, that's dumb. Being a collector of anything you're a fan of doesn't friggin matter.
To do a sports analogy again, anyone who collects jersey's or helmets is THE SAME.
Anime figurines and apparel
Comics
Sci-Fi
Soap Operas.
It's the same shit and it's stupid to insult or think badly about any of them.

Lol... I haven't watched season 3 yet... is it any good?

I don't think it's as good as the either the first two so far. But we still got 2/3 of it left lol.

Ah I see then I guess i could see the appeal. I was raised in the 90's but back then TV wasnt my friend like most kids since I had A LOT of games. So when I watched it I watched it but not as often as most kids xD. But I got a better clarification of why it has the weird fanbase now.

Yeah I guess it doesn't matter as much as what you watch. This kinda roots back to the earlier pages of this thread about other people's hobbies not hurting you or anyone else in anyway being left alone.

If I was braver as a kid, I would have gotten my self an Easy Bake Oven and not give a flying fuck if it was pink. MAN I just wanted to make my own damn pastries!

Wow. Haters gotta hate. A key point to the appeal of the show is that the main characters present as late teens/20somthing women (who, sure, happen to be ponies; whatever). Like a lot of the better "kids" shows (think the Muppet Show, or yes, anything else by Lauren Faust), it's designed with material that will fly over the heads of kids and is expressly aimed at the adults watching with them (or not) as well as material that's designed to appeal to the kids. Like, say, the season 1 closer being a huge tribute to Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods".

Still in season 2; I'll get around to the rest when I get a chance.

I've seen a couple episodes and tried to watch with an open mind but I just don't get the appeal. From what I can remember the show was like... a kids show. That's it. Why don't people create entire fandoms based on Dora the Explorer or something similiar?

As others have basically said already, because the ponies (in their current incarnation, anyway) aren't so blatantly juvenile. I think the Mario Universe, Pokémon, Transformers, etc. make for a better comparison.
