if you like Gurren Lagann than watch Gunbuster and Gunbuster 2, same creators. It's not quite as huge but it's still awesome.

Talismans avatar is from NAdia lol

Oh yeah I'm trying to find an english dub of ghost stories. My cousin has it on dvd but she wont let anyone touch it. I NEED THIS.

Is there any other anime like Gurren Lagann btw?
Full metal Panic, Burst Angel, Neon Genesis Evangelian, and Gundam Wing (my favorite).

I'll start it tonight, after some chillaxing video games. Fairy Tail and Gurren Lagann are now on my list too.

Just a question, did anyone else have a serious problem with FMA: Brotherhood's ending? Because I did.
I did too. what really got on my nerves was how professionally well they ruin the atmosphere in that show. everything would be super serious and i'd be drawn in and then a stupid half-assed joke would pop in and completely ruin it.

you need to watch ghost hunt too then. very good in Jpn and Eng dub so i watch it in Eng.

I watch many animes to even forget a few lol.

Long ramble.

Favorite anime in terms of whole package.
When they cry(aka Higurashi)
Cross game(well done story)
Seto no Hanayome(The comedy that never stops)

There's probably more, but most are quite cliche with good qualities yet a flaw that stops them from being top tiered anime imho.

For instance, Clamp has amazing designs I adore with good anime. Heck, I see Chi as probably my most favorite female character of anime. But aside from the good stuff, the ones I watched have some "holes" I liked to have "closed".

A better example of holes that have me slightly skeptical, yet I loved the anime were works from Key. Kanon for instance, was sweet and sad anime which I will admit. But I did have some "lol wtf" moments. Like Makoto is a girl with amnesia first. Then all of a sudden, why does she become reduced to a fox in a girl's body struggling to say her name? Answer? For some reason her health gets worse because of the main character and now she has to be cared for like a pet? Oh well.

Majority of the anime I watch is because I'm shallow and into art and fanservice. Like Kaoru Tanamachi from Amagami SS was watched because I was interested in her and not the story. Her story was nice and made me fantasized, but the story was meh.

Anyways, why is Higurashi top? I'm biased to say the story, the wtf killings, and probably Mion as the series went by.

Why is Seto no Hanayone top? Much more funny than K-on and Lucky Star imho(no offense to fans of those). Lucky star and K-on are "cute funny" to me and I liked them though.

Why is Cross game top? It just is. It remains focused on what I wanted: a good story wrapped up nicely. As for art, I will admit that I much preferred to see better art since I'm not a back then art anime type, but I learned to appreciate it for what it is. Basically if Cross Game had the art of today meshed with it's story, I'd be all over it. That's not to say I'm all over it now, but I'm just being honest to what I think.

I was so close to putting Seto no Hanayome in my top five. It was really funny ^-^ and I agree about K-ON and Lucky Star being cute funny but that's why I prefer them ^^

There are some I find respectably classics like the 80's shows but I tend to like the newer ones, simply for the animation being amazing. Its a lot different where unlike Cartoons, Anime for me hasn't declined into crap generally but there are shows that were on too long and lost its likability.

Inuyasha is good to me early on. When Kikyo came back everything went down hill, logically and preferably which is like episode 16 or something... its sad. When romance is the basis of a plot and taken into a naive teen-puppy love twist it just loses all validity to me. Teen Love isn't love and is always the basis to shallow taste, 1dimentional characters, excessive drama that isnt even heart moving...etc.

Metabots is the same, the first season was great, After the tournament arc ended it was total crap, the cars thing was innovative but stupid. The voice change was even worse.

Digimon was perfect in season one, all the characters were likable, and the music is more to my taste in the dub, all the voices fit their characters and there was no romance. Mainly jokes and comedy. (wether it is funny is to each his own) It did have its flaws though. Not every character was rounded out enough and the lead had too much power ups compared to the other cast that could have helped them if they too had that access. Which is sad because nothing technically stopped them. Until the movies most battles had the pacing of pokemon (which sucks, repetitive spamming of attacks like Pepper breath or Fist of the beast king.) and they weren't very amazing.
(The first movie really picked it up and fixed this. There was actual combat and not just special attack spam)

Season 2 - Generally Sucked, most chemistry was lost within the cloned cast. The reason to like the original leads wasn't there but the villains made up for it.)

Season 3 - All right, good characters but slow paced and not enough fights. When they did have fights it was usually turn based or imbalanced power. However that season had the BEST digivoling sequences. (worst being season 1 and 2)

Season 4 - Hated it. Lost the theme of digimon, people being the digimon, nice change but not very classic friendly. I mostly hated it for not keeping the routine of Kid + pet monster.

I stoped after there, the rest of the incarnations are just rediculous but Lilithmon is hot.

i say that School Rumble has made me laugh more than all other anime combined. Pani Poni Dash is probably, no wait-it is at the top of my list for WTF moments.

So ya Digimon season 4 is the best, just saying. Had the best story, actually had drama, best english theme song what? It was told better, not to mention better fights, Digimon design and characters.... except the fat one.

Digimon has bad characters in every season..... as does most shounen shows.

And if we're naming all these comedies, im just gonna throw out Nichijou which is better than Azumanga, Lucky Star, Pano Poni, K-On, Hidamari Sketch, and most other one shot school comedies out there.
Not Seto no Hanayome though.... it's a different style of show but that show was hilarious.

It's oh so true

ANd what i forgot to say was it's better than all those shows COMBINED, just to show how good it is.

And i love all these shows fyi, not like im hating on them

Digimon isnt shounen. Shounen is mostly the bullshit bleach and naruto are. Overrated trash with irritating main characters, generic plots and motivations, exessive redundant power ups and the most infantile style of fan service. Just because Digimon has some bad characters doesn't mean they aren't charismatic to the audience if they have character I personally hate Season 4 but found the characters likable, not funny at all but solid. Were as everything about season 2 sucked.

Season 4's theme song was stupid to me. It felt out of place with the show.

digimon is considered Shounen actually. it's mainly geared towards a male audience because of it's action and quick to whit characters. but that's why I like Shoujo anime better. there are very few shounen anime i like. ghost in the shell, trigun, cowboy bebop, and wolf's rain just to name a few. but then again they are different than your typical shounen anime. they have in depth characters and stories. doesn't mean some people don't like shounen doesn't mean they should be in denial about whether an anime truly is or not.
