have you ever heard of something called the "otaku funk?"
Do you even know what "Otaku" means?

There are very few people who could be called an "Otaku" even if they watch Anime, Watching Anime does not make you an Otaku. Even if someoen was an "Otaku" what would be wrong with that? its no different from poeple who collect art or people collect music infact any other hobby. Do you just look down on it because you think that is the cool thing to do or are you affraid for some reason? You do realize its just the same as those people who call you guys who put somuch time into yoru game losers, Ironic isnt it?

But if you insist, I guess we could debate about the logic behind giving up hobbies for sex or for that matter how sex even factors into having a social life in the first place.

I cry every time i hear a man complain "my wife said so" or "my girlfirend said so", sorry i enjoy my hobbies too much to throw them all away for some sex especially when its possible to get a woman who shares your interests and you can enjoy hobbies and the woman. And don't give me that "you have to make sacrifices in life" BS because reality has it as far as relationships go you should never have to sacrifice anyhting.

Howbout "Social Life" Anime fans talk to Anime fans there for they have a social life or would they be conciderd not having a social life if they do not talk to those people who do not like Anime?

After looking at both possible refrences, you must have been joking and i just failed to realize, My bad.

@Ruko
clearly YOU dont know what an otaku is, or the funk.

Look up a literal Jap->english definition of the word, in the context of a fan (I believe the proper form of the word using a specific spelling means you own property or something). Otaku is a negative term. And in the Japenese language its hard to spin it into a positive light, its possible, but very hard and it only works in very specific context.

Since its common misconception that calling someone "otaku" is the equivalent of calling someone a geek (for anime) the word has lost its integrity in the english language, especially since calling someone a geek for most anything these days isn't necessarily bad.

Basically to be considered an otaku you need to be an extremely overly obsessive fan of the genere. And to watch lucky star and enjoy it in my opinion you really need to know your shit, and be a full blown weaboo. There is a fine line between enjoying anime and being overy obsessed. An Otaku/weaboo is the kinda person that crosses that line. I'm not calling anyone here a otaku, i'm just making an observation.

As for the "otaku funk" I dont know how many conventions you've been to but just wait till your in a smaller room or narrow hall with a few real otaku/weaboos' in it. Beleive me, it doesn't take many to make a room smell like low tide on the Hudson.

weaboo=someone that wishes that he/she was japenese. Urban dicitonary it. Think of an otaku, divide his/her knowlege in half and multiply their overspoken-ness for shitty anime by 50.

tl:dr
Being called otaku is bad and it implies you sleep with love pillows.

I'm aware of its meanign and origins, it shoudlnt be tossed about. There are very few poeple who would cassify as Otaku.

I am unaware of the funk, I dont go to conventions I'd rather spend my time actually watching anime than talking about it. Most of those convention people arent even real anime fans they watch like one series and spend the rest of their time going to conventions cosplaying and talking about it for no real reason and having silly debates about stupid characters.

But i dont think a bunch of smelly weabos should be caleld Otaku, so maybe Weabo-funk instead. I am pretty sure that not even any of those smelly peopel live in anime shrines with wall to wall anime posters and figures/dvd and other anime merchandise clutterds about their homes.

Pillow cases, I'd never put them onto an actual pillow. Lately all the *good* artwork has been coming out on towels and pillow cases, not cheap wallscrolls or posters :/

I just have to say...my favorite towel is a Yu-Gi-Oh towel. Oh yeah, and I actually like bleach and naruto (not naruto recently but I'm hoping it gets good again) but obviously the manga is better. My favorite to re-watch right now is One Piece too...I'm so lame. I'm also Japanese so sue me if your tastes are different from mine. At least my culture animates more than 2 frames per second (I'm looking at you, Saturday morning cartoons)

Oh, that's a relief. I myself have a Haruhi Suzumiya pillow case that came with one of the special edition DVDs. I was just a little freaked out after reading Wikipedia's definition of Love pillows...

What you do with it has nothing to do with what other people do with it. I see nothing to be worried about.

LOL

Neon Genesis Evangelion was my favourite anime. I've yet to find something that has drawn me in as much as that did.

Air Gear was one I watched recently and i'm pissed that its unfinished.

I watch Naruto...but it just doesn't seem the same as the first couple of seasons. The blood and ruthlessness has gone. Stupid 12yr old fanboys have gone and ruined a promising series.

ooberallen, i don't have a nicovideo account so i cant actually see that video.

whitey, its not nice to make fun of peoples hobbies. . .
