Ugh, I always wanted to watch Gundam, but it's just too huge. I wouldn't even know where to begin.

Most of the newer stuff is trash (SEED/Wing). The older stuff like 0080, 0083, and Gundam X is pretty good. Honestly I'd say the best place to start is with the first season of Gundam 00. Go back and watch SEED for the cool mecha design (backpacks ftw!) if the overabundance of teenage angst does not turn you off immediately.

Teenage angst? I own Evangelion, yo. I can't imagine Gundam would give me a problem. How interconnected are the series? I'm a perfectionist so I've always wondered if I would miss something if I skipped a series or didn't start at the beginning.

Most of the series being produced now are standalone, so I'll second ooberallen's recommendation of starting with season 1 of Gundam 00.

The only time you'll have to worry about watching tons of stuff is if you start with the original Mobile Suit Gundam... then there are quite a few TV series and movies that take place in the same universe.

Evangelion has nothing on SEED dude. I Honestly don't see how these kids can effectively fight when their helmets are flooded with tears everytime they get into a mobile suit.

As ExMachina said, the continuity goes as far as some organizations and locations having similar names. They pretty much take place in the same "universe" but its never really directly connected unless you're looking at stuff like Gundam SEED and Gundam SEED Destiny. If you want some laughs and super cheesy action you might want to check out G Gundam, I strongly recommend watching the english dub of this.

Enough said.

Yea, if ever a series could break my totally homosexual man crush on Guts and Berserk. It'd be Ippo, followed by 75% of the cast of Prince of Tennis....

But alas

BERSERK FOREVER LOSERS!!!!!!!

.....even puck!

Hmmm... 0079 was ok, 0080 was ok, 0083 was better, Zeta is nice, ZZ is ... funny atleast, Victory is . . ., Savior is O_o. Wing was good my first Gundam series .. G gundam was crap, Gundam X would have been good if it was finnished, Turn A was good, I loved SEED and Destiny. Gundam 00 Has officially become the Best Gundam series ever.

08th MS team and Chars counter Attack were intresting too and the Zeta movies are great amazing how it looks after being remasterd.

I'm in a bit of a snafu. I want to indulge in some quality anime and yet I can't seem to find anything that's really piquing my interest.

To be honest, i'm not fussed what it's about as long as it has a great cast of characters, setting, and of course an excellent and fitting soundtrack.

Anything from yesteryear to today. Preferably yesteryear because most modern anime seems to suck a big pile of novelty 'massage' devices.

What anime have you seen? I would highly recommend Code Geass, but I think just about everyone's watched that. I don't know if you ever seen Full Metal Panic! or Gunslinger Girl, but both of them also fit the bill. I prefer Gunslinger Girl, but FMP! is a definitely a lot more light-hearted. Keep that in mind if you consider either of these shows.

So hey, that Gundam 00 season 2... has been really good so far. I find myself having something to look forward to in the end of the weekend and staying up to watch it streamed live from Japan and then grab the fastest sub as soon as possible.

00 IS really a great series, infact its the best this season. If you like some classic mecha cheese check out Linbarrels its <3

Watching Frontier is about as much fun as getting pummeled in the ass by a ten foot dildo. Yeah, watching some little retarded girls prancing around in skimpy outfits out on main decks of space-faring battleships while battles, which are influenced and determined by how poignant the little retarded girls sing their songs, rage on overhead . . . wtfs?????!?! Seriously? The only respectable Macross was Zero. Everything else is pure crap.

Basilisk also sucked. Wannabe Ninja Scroll with half the enjoyment factor.

Recent stuff that I watched and enjoyed:
Natsume Yūjin-Chō
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Sword of the Stranger

I now have a whole list of things to add to my DVD collection:

Fate/Stay Night
The new Yu Yu Hakusho set
Black Cat
higurashi no naku koro ni (When They Cry)
