Shangri-la is very interesting. it's a future where they tax countries for carbon usage, which has in fact caused global warming, and that the US is actually considering doing in real life to people who over extend carbon usage, this means being taxed for being FAT.

Except being fat doesn't quite have the same negative externalities that carbon emission does. Being fat in general doesn't exclude other people from using common goods, unless you're so fat that you have to take two bus seats or something. Carbon emission de facto means that someone else can't use the clean air that you just consumed.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the two series of this anime.
It's a rather typical anime. And yet, even though I usually want something that is out of the ordinary, I loved this one. The story is good enough, I liked the ending of both series, and the humor is ...impressive, to say the least. I never thought I'd laugh so much from an anime that appears so typical at first sight.
...And it's also impressive to find so much humor that is actually funny and not typical-to-animes in a story that is sad from start to end.

MAHOROMATIC Oh yes, i own both seasons and the OVA. and lets say that GAINAX and SHAFT need to make love more often, they've done Mahoromatic, Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai (The Ugly Yet Beautiful World) and REC, all great, but the first two are the amazing ones.

Mahoro.... Mahoro is an ecchi/sci-fi comedy..... with seriously great fight scenes, full frontal nudity, and a way of telling a story that makes it differ from others. the endings however are AWFUL, as in horrible, as in wtf. The ending to the first season is ok, since of course there is another season, BUT if there wasn't there would be issues. However the ACTUAL ending.....the actual ending is in most ways impressive beyond what show would normally do, and stupid for trying to undo something that can't be undone. for spoilers i won't get specific.

Ugly/Beautiful World is somewhat the same style, except fantasy over sci-fi and a cool power over power abuse story that ends with a horrible BANg, and not really a happy ending. Something to see.
 
Anyone ever want a certain video game (or anything else) to become an anime?

I for one have always wanted Guilty gear to be an anime! Fighting game anime usually sucks but I think GG would be the only fighting game to pull it off well.
 
i'd love for GG to be an anime, always wanted it too.

But far from the only one capable, KoF got the Fatal Fury the Motion Picture, probably the best game action flick out there. Very good. And we also got Street Fighter II the movie, not bad either, and the first Alpha was decent. KoF also got Another Day based on the 3D game universe, and it had some of the highest quality seen in the 2006 anime year. Very nice.

but i mean there are a LOT of games..... not just fighter's i'd like...... i'd love to see Persona 3 or 4 get an anime with the same exact quality and style from the anime cut scenes, not any of this Persona Trinity Soul stuff. I'd love to see Toriyama go full out on a Chrono Trigger anime, and not just that stupid OVA that exists. hell i'd LOVE to see Jump Ultimate Stars anime, the biggest anime battle royale game made into an anime itself. Hmmmmmm

Those are all good choices (I would love to see an P3/4 anime as well) but I COMPLETELY forgot about a Xenogears anime, I mean if they could make a crappy anime out of the even crappier Xenosaga game then I think gears would work. Also, I would like to see an OVA of the My-HiME manga... It's so much darker than the anime.
 
please the games for Xenosaga were a hundred times better than that anime, even game 2 was better.

but ya Gears would be sweet. My-Hime was still very good regardless, and Otome is too.

lol i'm watching Rideback and on episode 2 they had a SoulCalibur poster on the window of an arcade.
 
they should make a devil may cry anime.... it should be done by funimation.

Just realized that the Makoto route is translated and patched by NDT. Funny how that same weekend I randomly snagged a Max Factory Makoto at acen for normal price (uber, out of production, and rare figure get).
