Okay, so looking at the trailer and considering how Sophie's story ends in SC4 (nearly getting devoured by Soul Edge, but barely getting saved by Algol) I am going to go with this: Sophitia was indeed devoured by Soul Edge, leaving her children half orphaned to grow up burdened with the guilt of knowing that their mother was destroyed trying to protect them. 17 years after their mother's death, the evil sword resurfaces and the siblings, burning with almost two decades of hatred and vengeance in their hearts, set off to seek justice in blood. With sword and shield they fight their way across countless battlefields, cutting twin swaths of destruction into the heart of the evil sword's new dominion. Finally, the cursed sword is before them, clutched in the twisted, decaying hand of the grotesquerie that is its new wielder. Patroklos' grip tightens on the hilt of his sword, the blade he forged in the fires of his grief-broken father's forge, and tempered in the crucible of his and his sister's righteous hatred. He leaps forward, but his forward flight is checked by the harsh metallic clanging of his sister's fallen sword, and the horror choked whisper of her fear cracked voice. "M-mother? ...gods, oh gods! Mother!" The truth of it cuts through Patroklos' confusion like a demon whetted blade, and the horror descends upon him like a choking cloak of eternal darkness, threatening to plunge him into madness. Sophitia steps forward, dark and twisted, the cursed sword glaring out at the world from within the iron grasp of her corrupted grip. She stares at the two children, and something that perhaps could pass for recognition flickers behind her blood-rimmed eyes, and then she laughs with a voice soaked deep in a thousand leagues of madness and charges...
