SC Community needs to move on....

I'm trying to get a revival going in Southern California right now, and all the evidence points to this ruleset being a good thing for community growth.

I wish it didn't have to be this way, Hilde and Algol are very beatable (I think everyone knows that Amy is the real problem). But the top concern right now is the community.

I SUPPORT. PROPS TO JAXEL FOR STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE (EVEN IF IT IS A LITTLE LATE).

Something-Unique... think what you want, I really don't care. Its a numbers game.

The community as a whole is way more important than the opinions of a select few. We've gone through this many times, even if Hilde is not dominating, the community suffers because of her existence alone. I would rather sully your opinion of the game and get 30 people to a tournament, then hold up the "integrity" of the game and get 8.

Jaxel I'd like to make an appeal to your nation wide rulings. Basically there needs to be an investigation to see who's playing, and who would be able to give the new rules a try with the assumption it would help revive or improve their current scene. Although many players and organizers are respected I don't believe any yet have the clot WCMaxi had.

There's a more basic factor that I have to address. I don't think anyone of us has every invested in a tournament as much as Idle is. 2000 dollars is a lot of money from anyone's personal account. Let me reiterate this, 2000 dollars is coming from ONE person's wallet, not a corporation or a group of people. Now if you're contributing that much purely on a pot that is going to be awarded, than I believe you should have the final vote of what you would do in your tournament.

GAMME was annouced in October 2009, several months ago while Hilde and Algol were allowed in majors. If GAMME was to take place 2 months after it was announced, it would have still be ran with the intention of following major rules ie only bonus and custom characters being banned. For this reason because of time and also an unheard of precedent of personal contribution, I motion that GAMME should follow the major rules of before allowing Hilde and Algol into this tournament as long as Idle wishes it to be.

We can also take this opportunity to survey the people who come to see how their communities are doing and what their intended plans are.

^Wow 3 CDNs in a row.

I'm okay with banning algol. I'm actually not okay with banning hilde. She's a regular character. And if she goes, Amy is likely next.

I like my idea of Wall/RO stages alone for Hilde matches. Hilde is hilde. Keep track of her charages its not hard. Lets just play.

Oh heres an Idea.

GAMME and DEV (with Pots?) act as EAST/WEST NATS. Any Tourney in May/Apr/Mar can act as a "seed" if you join one of these big tourneys. That way money won from said "SPRING NATS" Tourneys can go to wards NATS EAST/WEST.

And if all goes well. We do an actual "unofficial Officail" 8WR SC4 NAts, where spots from previous tourneys act as seeding. But people can still join, just like 2K9 Nats, and everyone is happy. Do the Tourney in the BYOC room of Evo. Unofficially. Like we normally do at any major no?

Just an Idea...

This came as a shock. It's a bit late for an outright ban of hilde. I hope some of you who support the character can open-up negotiations to get her back on the roster under some kind of compromise. But then again if this puts ATL on the map again, then I don't give a fuck.

See you all in SC5 cuz the banning of characters that are nowhere near broken just good makes me sick to my stomach.

Thats what the interesting things is. U will lose more by attempting to do this. Cause to be honest u haven't gained any back since the East Coast tri-state ban. I don't know who ur kidding. I quit because of it. If whodat is serious u lose another. I wouldn't be suprised if u lose two of the other high calibur players as well. RTD, Ceirnian. Thats 4 already plus whatever other possible Hilde/Algols or people who get turned off by this decision just like me; and still u gained no one back while disrespecting those who are here and telling them they are expendable.

News Flash!!!

Algol is a LOT easier to beat then Hilde!! (But only with half the cast of characters)

Only an idiot thinks Hilde is not broken with SAFE charges that give ADVANTAGE on block and will one hit kill you from just about anywhere on the screen. i.e. HIGH REWARD NO RISK HIGH REWARD NO RISK HIGH REWARD NO RISK

With that said I think its too late in the life of SC4 to ban them. They should both be allowed and Hilde limited to cage stages and a few stages with walls like someone else said. That would be a fair compromise imo.

ps
I am not tripping about FR dont get me wrong. Just irritated at the redundancy and hypocrisy in some of these posts. I actually have a life now so I cant roadtrip to a bunch of tournys like i did back in the day. But I will start making plans to go to GAMME. No guarantees yet though.

Like I said before I have moved on but reiterating; I took it even one step further in that I canceled even going to DEV if this rule is enforced (posted in the DEV thread already). I already stood by a maybe but its funny even thinking about it. The best player in that area/region is Ceirnian and are u telling me he has to accept the fact that in his own region he can no longer use Hilde because one East Coast SC member says so going two years into the game. That is so wrong on so many levels. Talk about an immense disservice to the community that is still present.

I'll post this in the DEV thread as well, but DEV will use whatever rules the community wants. If the community wants Hilde/Algol banned at DEV, we will ban them. If the community wants them playable, they will not be banned.

I'm not entirely convinced that this thread marks some legendary turning point for the community and these rules will stick. We've already seen that GAMME is not following the rules that have been set in this thread. So please do not take my previous comment to indicate that both characters are banned at DEV.

If this sticks, we'll ban them... otherwise we'll go with what the other majors (i.e. the community) are doing.

don't worry the same thing will happen again in SC5 :P

but more importantly, I haven't heard from you in a good while now. hope you're doing well buddy

How exactly are you going to determine what the community wants?

I was inspired by Something-Unique's comment on competition being a joke without everything allowed. That's usually what the argument was back in SC3 as well. Such a player would be in favour of absolute chaos, which would've looked something like this:

Many would argue that the game was already dead even with a ban on the overpowering aspects. That is the same case now with SC4. However, for the players that actually did travel after the glitches were banned, it was definitely more enjoyable. You didn't disrespect another player for not being allowed to play broken, as if the competition was somehow less skilled all of a sudden. That is baseless. What matters is if the community is happier overall. That's not something worth disrespecting.

And it's irrational to cater to the top 10, because even if they leave you're guaranteed replacements, while losing potential new players is irreversible.

Funny vid Vincent. I do agree people overall were happier when VC was done away with.

Fair enough. I'm not convinced either. It might stick on the East Coast but its still up to the west coast if they decide to follow or any specific region for that matter. I highly doubt anywhere but the east coast will have this. Since one man can never ever decide everything for all in life. Life doesn't work that way.

You guys need to move on. Hilde and Algol being beatable is debatable, but where's all these tournaments at for Soul Calibur if there's all these people willing to deal with their bullshit? I'm not seeing them. We're only at this point because most of this country have already stopped holding tournaments for this game on a regular basis, and if the east coast did not make a change, it would have been a matter of time before we stopped holding tournaments as well. Then where we would be at?

Hilde and Algol were allowed at NEC, but I didn't see mad people come to Philly to compete when the year before, 89 people came through for Calibur. At the least, people could have came here for SF4 or Tekken and entered in Calibur as well.

You could probably entice people to come out with pot bonuses, but you still have to spend money to get wherever a particular tournament is being held at with only one person being the real winner. When it comes down to people traveling somewhere to play Calibur and have a good time, the story is a different one. Even when GAMME was announced back in October with a $2000 pot bonus, there wasn't people jumping at the bit to go there. Not until SC4 was confirmed to not be at EVO, you see a couple more people show some interest in it.

You guys in other regions have nothing to lose, so at least give these rules a try first before knocking them. And if you don't like them, then you can go back to not having tournaments for Calibur because that's what currently happening.

Something-Unique... banning Hilde/Algol on the east coast was NEVER about getting people back, though that would be a definite bonus (we recently got Truth_Nelson back). The rules were put in place to make the game more enjoyable, thus reducing the rate of LOSS of players. Its no doubt that people will move from Soulcalibur to play Tekken and Street Fighter; but if the game is more enjoyable, they may say "I will play Tekken/SF4 in ADDITION to Soulcalibur", instead of saying "I will play Tekken/SF4 INSTEAD of Soulcalibur".

WHODAT SAYS THEY GONNA BEAT DEM SAINTS!!!!

TOLD YOU BRETT FARVE WOULD CHOKE!!!!!

lol

ok but seriously. It's like what we've been saying. Now i'm starting to see to what both SU and Nori have been saying, (on TZ of course) No matter what happens, people are always gonna bitch.

HOWEVER, unlike most people. I bet SU, Idle, Malice, Jaxel, myself and of course a few others are willing to see if from Jaxel's point of view (yes...even you whodat...don't deny it.) when it comes down to it. It's a number's game.

so case in point. DO WHAT THE FUCKIN TITLE SAYS MOVE ON...

Malice is right, if you don't wanna have those rules, then don't apply them to your tournament, you're just going to be slowing the unified ruleset down by deliberatly having those rules. Therefore, be pissing off more people when the go to a tournament and not realize that their character is banned. Plain and simple

OOFMATIC: You heard the Chickenwing. Stop deliberately ignoring the rules! Hahaha. You can even rid of Amy. Think of the wonders.
