And guys, if you're set on making a wishlist, we should do it soon before they decide on Ivy's set style.

im adamant on us making one,but no one said a thing about it really,me may aswell, all these ideas would be wasted, aside from for discussion and such, although i think they may get someone to read these threads sometimes,but..

Kerrod, I can't believe you missed the wishlist! I even sticked it in Ivy's SA :) A big thanks to those who contributed. I will ask ask a few more people (Malek, Scud, Noface) and we should be all set.

I missed it, too. You should've posted a link or something in here. I wouldn't've thought to see if one had been made because no one had said anything about it.

yes thats why i kept moaning about it,cant believe no one said anything the way i kept mentioning the ivy wishlist youd have thought someone would have said it actually has been made anyway not to worry weve posted our ideas now,btw someone sent the thread off to daishi this morning, after me and vodka got to it and posted our ideas
his name is 255GTO dont know who it is because thats his twitter name

look on the twitter conversation box at the bottom of the home page youll see if you scroll down,i wonder who it is,i cant see it not been someone from this forum

That's Mr.Nobody from this forum. I guess it's ok if we send this wishlist a few times. Now I only need a few famous players to write some stuff.

Seeing the gameplay makes her not look SO bad, but it's definitely going to be very hard to adjust from awesome combos where you can personalize it to fit yourself (and then have everyone else steal it), to a forced combo..
I'm sure she'll be fine, but I really doubt I'll like her as much.. Hopefully I'll be fine with Patroklus.. (or Tira? :DDD)
However, I am excited to see what they do with her, etc..

Do they only release a console demo when it's released 100%? That's the only way I think I'd be able to get a demo, and I don't see the point in that, lol.

I think you are grossly overreacting. I really don't like her in SC3 or SC4 nearly as much as I did in SC2, and its mostly because of coil stance. I DON'T feel like she flows well at all because of it, even though you can change stances in the middle of moves. Coil makes her feel (and look) awkward to me because it gets in the way of transitioning between Whip and Sword. It felt too forced like "let's give Ivy a THIRD move set."

I love what they are doing with her in SCV. They are doing with her what I've wanted all along (and this was confirmed by Daishi's twitter) and that is making her transition into a whip move when you hold down a button. This is much more like how she was in SC2, her best incarnation in my opinion looking back, because her fighting style was fluid, quick, dominating and dangerous. I really dislike the separate stances...they are awkward in my opinion. Not BAD, just not as good as a fluid Ivy.

Just think, if you can hold down a button and make a sword move into a whip move, how is that a downgrade from SCIV? A lot of her sword and whip moves were just short range/long range versions of each other anyway. Now if I want to do WP 6B+K or CL6B I don't have to be in a separate stance. I have both those options at my immediate disposal, and I know that I do because I saw this done in the gameplay video vs. Natsu.

I liked it having two different stances. I also loved Coil. I like the fact that she has a ton of moves, and the switch was fast enough so you could get from WP to SW during one attack, if needed. If she had control, it'd make her a lot better than IV, attack wise. WP and sword moves SHOULD be pretty much the same, however, it's dumb that we don't get control. I hate being forced into a set state. (I also hate that about Tira.. I mean, it makes sense that she'd switch during random moves, but...)

If ALL moves have a Whip option by holding the button, aside from kicks, then it'd be fine. If not.. I'm going to strongly dislike it.

Actually Id retract that, theres nothing more for me to add. People wanted seperate stances as oppose to having everything in one go. :S Its all preferences. But at the end SC5 Ivy will be a step ahead of SC4 Ivy at everything if its only about stances.

it is all down to preference really,i loved the passed ivys but i didnt like not been able to change stances during moves because it seemed to get rid of having freedom during combos, but since its SCV im sure theyll balance it out in some way for getting rid of it,i just stressed aslong as theres still a lot to her and this simplifying isnt going to ruin her,but it shoudnt do

I just keep failing at trying to get my point across and to see that you still post the bolded above just makes my head want to explode. Ok, last try.

A combo is just a move followed by another. Picture the following:
SC4:
You start a combo with moveset A and you followup with moveset A or change to B. End in B, you're stuck in it until it coolsdown.
SC5:
You start a combo with moveset AorB and you follow up with moveset AorB options. So the "freedom" you want is already there!

Like Rezildur said..."how is that a downgrade from SCIV?"

It doesn't seem that bad, as long as ALL moves can be held to have a whip counterpart. (aside from kicks)
But pretty much EVERY input needs to be able to have a whip, too, or it'd be really dumb and not okay.

  • SS should do 90 damage, CS should do 80 damage, iCS should do 100 damage

You think mastering an input for a throw that has tiny break windows, can be buffered into the hitstun of AA without any visual movement (as seen in the trailer) and has basically zero risk to throw should be rewarded with one hundred damage? Where is the risk/reward in this case?

A normal throw does 50 to 60 DMG, if you duck it you get punished for 30-50ish depending to the opponent...asking for 100 DMG for the same risk is puzzling me.

If its like this it should be balanced in some way...either make the break window much bigger, make the recovery on whiff longer to enable much harder punishment or make it take meter.

ONE HUNDRED DAMAGE. wow. Then in the same thread people are asking for SS and CS beeing available from the same stance...the Ivy arena indeed is mind blowing sometimes.
