SCV Character Creation Discussion

Just a few notes from the stream:

They made this ugly Cassandra. I could have a done a much better job, but at least it's recognizable. I experimented with SCIV CaS a few minutes ago, and I just found out how to make a better one, but that's a surprise fro when the game comes out :). I just love how you can use the special parts for the ribbon, that's like her signature item lol. And for some reason they gave her an ugly mask that killed the whole thing. She looks better in action (until the armor breaks, that is).

This is good and bad, mainly because it means that Taki won't be in as a bonus, as I would have wanted. But that's ok, she looks pretty good here. I would, however, choose another hairstyle, and give her less armor.

And for the WTF of the day, we have Mr. Katamari: Beach Watermelon edition.

Something I noticed that disappointed me is the fact that the whole armor breaks all at once with little effort. Yuck.
 
i'm definitely not liking the fact that all or most of the armor breaks ALL AT ONCE now. if just the top broke off then i would be cool with it but it's the top and the shoes. i don't like that. once again i feel like i'm somewhat wasting my time putting clothes on my character because they will most likely end up with all their clothes broken off by the end of the match. why did they keep such a stupid mechanic?
 
Im just hoping it's an option somewhere ;~;. If it's not, I don't really care that much. The new CaS system looks pretty good. I'm more concerned about the items I will be able to use on my characters... you know some better things than like the 3-4 good sets in SC IV (which most of the time were 2P character pieces ._.)
i know what you mean but if i use items on my character i would like it to stay on them. but i'm still eager to try it out.
 
I'm hoping in the final build that only the upper body items break. I do wish they added an option so when you choice an item you can decide rather it is breakable or not.

Also in the stream I notice some more effects for the CAS's weapons. Dureing the soul of Rapheal vs Soul of Viola, the Rapheal CAS had a orb like after effect. Then the weird Mr. Katamatri looking guy had explosions effects every time he hit the opponent.
 
I'm rather put off by the fact that we've got this awesome new system, but still only 50 slots to use it with. Why can't they have the data used be limited by hard drive space, and simply use a character selection interface that you can navigate faster (rather than just scrolling left and right)?
 
I hope there is an option to toggle 'breakable' because I hate it when my armor breaks on SCIV. Pieces of my full plate shouldn't break because of a kick...
Edit: Forgot to mention that if your 'Low' pieces break while wearing full plate on SCIV you look like a mini SCV Asta 2P :P

Agreed. More slots would be great, especially for people who make alts for their CAS characters. Though we should be able to create two outfits for each CAS, at least. The fact that custom outfits for the main characters took up one of the 50 spaces was also pretty bad.

I can imagine some people might dedicate all of their hard drive to CAS, so I'd say at least 100 spaces would be good.

As for the interface, I imagine something similar to the main roster would work. Click on the symbol in the corner to bring it up, then choose from the rows of characters.
 
Since I use my CaSes most of the time, I just created the alternates for when I used the characters in Story Mode. Depending on how things go, I may use create alternates for my characters on another file.​
 
I really hope they throw in some old unused concepts into CaS... more specifically, this beauty:

I've never had a problem with the 50 slots honestly... But then again, I don't create existing(from other works) characters. On SCIV I only used up about 12 slots, 6 original characters and their 2Ps. Anyways, besides ~making armor destruction optional~ I hope they incorporate more asymmetrical parts, and more parts from older SC games. I always hate when my CaSes stick out from the main characters, and these would make them look more legit IMO.

I've never made a character from another work, unless it was just to experiment with the creation system. Hell, even then I didn't ever save them. I just have the terrible habit of trying to make an entire cast of customs to represent people from countries that don't get a ton of show in SC. Mostly people from the Middle East, Africa, and India. It's nice to have extra representation.

I'd love more stylish parts as well, especially unused pieces from older concept art. That Cassandra picture a few posts up would be gorgeous as an alternate for one of my female knights.

Me and my friend used up all 50 slots in SCIV making entirely original characters. It's just nice not to have a cap on creativity :P Especially with all the new features and whatnot.
 
You know, I'd probably could of mained Cassandra. Looking back at this costume, I should of done so long ago. But you know, I wouldn't mind having costume of warriors cut out to return. More CAS pieces to play fashion with. I mean, look at SCIII Cassandra. It looks fabulous! *snaps fingers* lol

I'm also disappointed by this. 50 slots may be a lot to work with, but you can use it up fast, especially if you want to give alternatives for existing characters. In the LBP games, the player is given a profile and making more costumes simply increases the profile size. That's what they should've done for SCV. Maybe someone should tweet this idea to them.
