SCV Yoshimitsu Q&A and General Discussion

Trying to do the JF 4Ax3 Was exactly what I was trying to do.

I gave up after yoshi kept falling after the 2nd. Its like he never wanted to do it aaaaaa.

Im stil having trouble with 3B -> JF 4A though

Maybe im wrong on this or i just need more practice. I actually landed JF4AAAAA a few times but i think its a JF that won't be mastered like doing it 100% all the time. I just can't ever get my thumb to hit those JF A's all the time. Whats your take on JF4AAAAA? I believe you can have a very high success rate with it but nothing godlike.

Oh yeah you can have good sucess with JF 4AAAAA. Im pretty sure someone out there can 100% it but its crazy hard to do because the frame window is super-super small. Its not as lenient as other JFs; and for good reason.

I, for one, won't spend a lot on time with it.

I will since it has a use imho. If I can land the JF in a combo like 3B > JF4AAAAA or something like DGF B > 3B > JF4AAAAA consistently, I'm golden. Despite the shaky recovery, I usually like to be a bit risky with Yoshi despite my turtle antics.

Come embrace the ballet with Yoshi!!

Just a quick video to showcase what happens if you connect three JF4Ax5s in a row after launch since I figure nobody has gotten lucky enough/cared enough outside of maybe Frostheart. I'm pretty positive that I've gotten Yoshi to recover on the last one before, but after three attempts of getting it just right and him falling over on the last-- I gave up.

This scales horribly after iMCF. If I just did it from 3B two reps puts the damage at 99+ which is obviously his best damage option if you honestly want to go for such a hail mary.

Here is Frostheart's video for all things JF4Ax5 if you haven't seen it.

I've been able to get do it just once. I could only get in a 2k. 3b wasn't quick enough. Now to try for 4…

It tops out at 3. Notice how there wasn't a relaunch on the last one. I've gotten it to recover on the last, but they just get spiked to the ground on the last hit of the third rep. They can immediately tech and nothing is guaranteed.

Oh sure. I was referring to CH 4Ax5 ~ iMCF ~ 3B ~ 4Ax15. I was able to get pretty close but the last one wasn't JF. I gave up.

I'd probably kill myself in frustration since that 1 frame link between JF4Ax5 and iMCF is difficult enough as it is, then tacking on three more random recoveries?

I know :D It was pretty much a saturday dedicated to just seeing how far I could go with that move (played the game throughout the day).

So I was messing around in Quick Battle today and I was playing with some IFP attacks. While I was in the middle of his laughing wave taunt, the maxi I was fighting tried to do a jump attack on me, and when it landed he just burst into flames like it was an unblockable attack. Other people have had this happen, right? I always thought that move's only purpose was to piss people off after an RO.

It's just a near useles gimmick imho. The only lulz I can get from it, is it stops airborne people and a few other stuff. Only if you happen to time it right, but chances are I wouldn't want to 4A+K unless I felt like gambling with a random chance for it to come out.

Edit: I see you have XBL. Maybe we can do some Yoshi mirrors just bond and understand some stuff if you'd like.

I wonder if it stops deathcopters. It would be cool but it the risk of it not coming out doesn't beat a simple sidestep punish.

On that last note, I would love that. I'm pretty much terrible but I'll play anybody if it will help me learn. I have most of Yoshi's basics and such down, I just need to learn how to better adapt to certain match ups and I need to learn his damn just frames. I also find myself occasionally having troubles with mirror matches. It's weird seeing my own tactics thrown back in my face. Send my gamer tag a message and the next time I'm online I'll get back to you.

It will stop Deathcopters, but it's a big gamble if Yoshi wanted to do the Xiaoyu unblockable. Imho, I'd probably try to stay away from it altogether. The best thing I found is step to his right if he does Deathcopter slam and use 22_88B. It also works for the left, but the right side of Yoshi seems a bit weaker. Or tell yourself to always 6K a Deathcopter Yoshi trying to kill you. I always train myself to 4AAAAA it sometimes JF4AAAAA(though this is a rare case). That's about all I know. Whiff punish, interrupt, or JG. Hope this helps.

As for the online thing, just look for a friends request and a text that says "JF4AAAAA addict" later on.

So I got a little bored today and whipped up a female version of Yoshimitsu's 1P costume, and I'm really loving how it looks. Should I post the pictures here? Or maybe someone should start a thread for others to post their Yoshi customs? I'd hate to start a new thread if it isn't totally necessary.

I'd love to see it, but you wouldn't post it here. There is actually a thread dedicated to Yoshi CaS already, and it's found in Create-A-Soul Formulas (I think) section of the forum.

...I'd link it, but im on a cellphone haha.

CH iMCF/6B BE stun lasts either 21 or 22 frames. There's no way to test the 22 frames though without using a p-stick to delay 4K by exactly 2 frames or something similar.

I had seen that thread before, I just wasn't sure if it should go there since it isn't a Yoshi 3P or a color change, it's a CaS, but I'll go dig for the thread and post it there. Thanks.

Edit: Here's the post, for future reference. http://8wayrun.com/threads/fashion-stance-custom-yoshimitsu-thread.13976/page-2#post-602884

Hmm.. just tried this out, interesting properties on a common setup:

FC3K, 2K, 66A+B - last hit can be ukemi backed and quick stepped or GI'ed.
FC3K, 2B, 66A+B - last hit can be ukemi'ed back and quick stepped or GI'ed.
FC3K, RCC 3B, 66A+B - last hit can be ukemi'ed back and GI'ed (not steppable).
FC3K, WRB, 66A+B - cannot be ukemi'ed back and cannot be GI'ed (difficult JG perhaps).

Tested on Astaroth. Good for me, because my regular play mate likes to ukemi back and quick step out of it now and again - usually i'm dashing in and trying to catch the step. The force block off WRB will do nicely.

Ugh, I haven't played against solid offline opponents in so long and I'm so rusty. I'm really hoping to get like 24 hours of casuals before FR or I'm going to be gimmicking the place up.

I'll be arriving on Thursday if you'd like to play some mirror Yoshi matches.
