SCV Yoshimitsu Q&A and General Discussion

Ill be there thursday night as well... housing plans fell thru so ill be hunting people to room with haha

Im bringing my set up as well, with the ASUS. So lag free practice.

If you need a place to crash, you're more than welcome to stay with me. Can stay for free for all I care, all I have is a pull out couch bed though, but Hawkeye may possibly be taking that. I sill haven't confirmed with him what hes doing.. Either way, free space is free space.

Let us all rejoice, for at this year at Final Round, a fellow Yoshi has made 5th place! A pretty good placing for the character amidst the sea of the usual if I do say so myself.

However this post will not all be about praise. Watching RingOut play in his matches was delightful indeed, however the same problem came up and up again:

Spacing and Long-Range options.

It's clear that a NM matchup against a Yoshi is bad news, but lets not just talk about how RingOut played, (He was super-solid, i like) but also how we can work together and think of ways to counter strong spacing.

I was starting to think Yoshi was gimped and unviable in tournaments but I guess that light has been relit.

Also, 9+BK BK works well in substitute of 8+AB (Deathcopter trap) If your opponent likes to play dead.

I may have to mirror RingOut sometime online to learn a thing or two alongside RedDjinn. Since we're the only Yoshis aside from my buddy A Rusty Lamb, Ronilo(though for some reason he doesn't like me much), and Ultimatechaff. There's probably others on XBL, but I'm iffy haha.

Yeah, I'd have done alittle better but I didn't have a controller again. Lost in loser's finals of my pool. Oh well. Just mirrored Ringout and it was mad even just because we both run dickpunch at the same times so often haha. Yoshi mirrors are fun.

Sorry for intruding in this thread but dammit dude. Please get a Mayflash converter for stuff like this cause hearing you with controller issues at these events makes me wanna cry my eyes out dude.

I will keep you in my prayers for the next tournament you ship out to. All yoshis are loved equally!!!!

Say no to broken controllers!!!

For sure. I just really thought they'd take my battery out. I'm the most comfortable on PS3 for Yoshi but I couldn't find anyone outside of my pool/top 16 to borrow from. Didn't look too far after Ringout let me borrow his xbox pad. Oh well, the event is super fun so the salt isn't so bad.

Sooner or later Sandman is gonna upload a short casual session Ringout and I had. Cellphone vid of a CRT so it probably won't be great quality but it is fun to see how drastically different our styles are especially against eachother.

I need to ask you something guys, I have seen some Yoshi players that do 2aB JF and then they connect it with a 3B, but some how I can't manage to pull it off. Is it because is not the regular input?? because I have tried both ways, the Just Frame input and the Brave Edge input.

If someone could tell me how do it it would be awesome, thank you guys.

Pretty sure the answer is around most of the threads here.

You need to tap a directional button after performing iMCF in order to go into neutral.
You'll need to practice the timing a bit so you can do iMCF -> tap direction (RCC I think it's called) -> 3B.

I see, I guess I will have to practice it because I've tried iMFC them moving(like you said, taping a directional button after), but the thing is that if I move the enemy is already on the floor. Yes the 3B will connect but it won't launch him into the air so I can do aB+K, that's what I want to do.

like shown here:

I am not sure if he is going neutral like you said, or he pressed 6( the thing is that I have tried moving forward and then doing 3B but its way to slow and it would not launch the enemy into the air).

You have to time the directional input. It has to be a quick tap after the iMCF connects, sort of like FC3K -> RCC -> 3B.
If you are doing a WR B or anything other than 3B, you have done it too early. If you are getting 3B but not launching, you have done it too late. You'll just have to keep practicing to become more consistent.
