I despise this character, and I sure as hell am not the only one who does. She's boring, requires no real thought, and just feels out of place in a SC game. Hell, she makes Amy look like a total piece of crap. And pretty much all Viola players play exactly the same. I think she should be removed, but since I know I am totally biased, I wanted to see what the community thinks about her after a full year of Marvel-style BS.

I'm asking exclusively from a gameplay perspective, which is why I posted it on the serious section. I personally don't think there's any hope for this fighting style, but perhaps more experienced players have something in mind.
 
Voted "No" because the reason for "Yes" was repulsive. Though she shouldn't come back. That would mess with their:

Get rid of character>Bring character back>Profit
 
I main her, and I do like her, she is unique. Although alot of people picked her up after the patch and before the patch no one used her at all. And honestly, I wish they would of never messed with her.

I still wish the story mode would tell us who she is and where she came from. Over all, I dont have a problem with her at all.
 
Everyone has characters they dislike playing against and just because she's an extremely strong character doesn't mean she should be wiped off the face of this franchise. I put my vote for no, rebalance this shit. The character belongs in the series, but needs some changes so she doesn't steamroll the cast with an amount of effort equal to facerolling the controller
 
I'll be fine with Viola when she isn't so boring. Every match involving her is just dull. Her damage, ToD combos, and infinite are pretty annoying but I'm more concerned over the fact that every match I've ever seen involving her is so boring that I'd prefer watching grass grow. If they can make her more interesting, I'll be fine with her presence.

And to your bias that Viola requires no thought, why don't you play Viola before you state as a fact that Viola requires no thought? Why don't we remove Mitsurugi while we're at it! He's overpowered and requires no thought!

No character deserves to be removed from the game in my opinions. I'm sure Project Soul would agree. We've already lost too y playstyles, no need for another one. PS could easily rebalence Viola.
 
Here's what I think about this thread. Stupid. Why? Since when have we been okay with whining and not taking action? Are we that lazy to not go study up and do stuff? Look, I'm a lazy scrub but I never ever make threads like these anymore. I can for instance pick Mitsu for instance and troll peeps like you to high heaven, Norik. Why? I know you aren't gonna get off your lazy ass and figure out how to defeat him.

Right now, I'm very disappointed. Asking me to share what I hate about certain characters is not something I enjoy anymore. For the record, Viola can stay because despite getting my ass whooped by her, I went and got help to get comfortable with the match-up to polish my incompetence.

There is no nicer way I can put this Norik, but you truly got me to call you a scrub for now. I don't want to call you one, but right now you remain one until you get off your lazy ass and seek help.


Now I see why 8wayrun is sometimes seen as a joke to outsiders. Certain lazy people can whine about the Greeks, Viola, Cervy, and Mitsu and it's okay for instance. Then you got some certain people white knighting their own characters and wars come out. Because of this, I've become determined to never to make any excuses unless I know the character I wield doesn't suit me anymore or I failed to stop my opponent. Most times it's the latter because I know I picked Yoshi and I will see to it that I play my character as hard as he can take me.


In short, when have some of us became less optimistic and chivalrous to our mains and such? I know we're desperate for a patch, but I'm more desperate on knowing who is a true 8wayrunner and who is a 8facebooker (be seeing status posts and getting skeptical but I keep my mouth shut).

She will be the "project redemption: Hilde 2.0" of SC6. Project soul had to solve the doom combo problem with hilde and i know the development team is eager to exorcise their demons and you can bet it is one of their priorities to slap in a balanced viola in SC6.

I hate to sound silly but what do you mean by 8facebooker? Never heard the term before.

Other then that, I agree with everything you said.

Remove SET Back Grab Infinite, JG a GI, ORB 2A+B's ability to punish someone when they guess right with a 2A or a 2K, SET B+K[BE] pre-patch damage (7,3), and nerf moves that got buffed in Patch 1.02 by 4 points of damage. Even if Viola had none of those things she'd still be one of the Top 5 characters in the game.
 
I find it funny that Viola is better than a boss character in terms of gameplay (Sry Algol) Then again, I haven't met an Algol thats really good.

On topic, I'm on the fence. I LIKE her design, don't get me wrong. I love the creativity and style of the moveset. But gameplay, wow. I don't think I need to explain myself, but I will say she needs a kick in the right direction.

New characters jumping in the series must have a meaty backstory to it. No questions asked. It's the 5th game.

It's like PS said, "Boop, new character- almost no story behind it, but enjoy our creativity- enjoy."

Now the same can be said for other characters like my dear Yoshi the 2nd. :c

Like I said, i'm on the fence. I feel like she coulda went somewhere if she had story behind how she taught herself- or if someone taught her- how to use that weapon or SOMETHING- ANYTHING. Shes not an evil devil- but shes just not executed properly.

8facebooker - someone who uses 8wayrun like a facebook person.


I just use it as a derogatory term for peeps who say stuff I consider stupid. Usually drama queens, idiots who lack common sense and other kinds of facebook stuff. I have no problem chatting about like facebook, but certain people need to get with the program. They need to realize we're in a competitive website despite the easygoing atmosphere in 8wayrun.
 
I voted to remove her. This is not because of how strong she is, but because projectiles don't belong in SC.

The same is true for Algol, I mean shit, they couldn't even come up with a new boss character for this game, while all the other past SC's had their own unique boss. Plus, he has projectiles too.

And then.... Bring back the old vets. Zas, Mina, Yun, and Talim.
