Did you took the 2 new chars in account? And guest chars`?
Yup!
28 in V
- 3 mimics
- Viola and ZWEI
+ 2 newcomers
- Oprah (too similar toi Sophitia)
+ 3 completely cut styles (Zas Talim Yun)

That's at least 27, if they want to avoid the same backlash we had for SCV. Because if we gonna get cut characters in SCVI, we won't even have replacements...

There is always a huge underestimation of dev time and how difficult it is to actually implement “easy” fixes/changes/additions in game speculation.

Who will do the programming of the new/tweaked feature?
How much time can the developer spend on planning out the new/tweaked feature?
What is the impact this new/tweaked feature will have on the current dev cycle?
If it’s a character, what about mo cap?
What about modeling?
What about voice lines?
Do we have the budget for additional team members/time taken from the current team members?
What about QA?
What about bug squashing?
What about balancing?

And much, much more.

I’m sure you’re all hot shit at writing “Hello World” in C#, but have some perspective and understand this isn’t as simple as imagining a high level idea and then just instantiating it into a body of work by tweaking one or two things.

Rant aside, the new footage excites me greatly.

I'll come out and say I have no idea how big the roster is precisely, but it's time to quell some worries.
The character select screen isn't final, but 20 is going to be minimum before DLC. Some incomplete characters are being held back for DLC unfortunately. I was told the game will most likely have more characters than SCV though. But just don't expect 30+ characters or whatever.

Maxi is in by the way. Speaking of which, I have some big news about him potentially.
Take this with a HUGE grain of salt because even my source that told me couldn't 100% confirm it, but the wording and what they were told eludes them to believe that he might be gay on SCVI, apparently?
Don't look too far into this yet. But the story mode is going to be covering Astaroth killing Maxi's crew and close friends in some kind of emotional way, and it was said to me that maybe his lover is going to be in the game to some extent and be a man that was killed to give Maxi even more of a motive against his neverending feud with Astaroth now.
For now, just keep that in mind if it is the case.

Not saying that the idea is good or not, but man just reading this shows how it seems that they're really focusing a lot in the story, that's great!

If we take into account different movesets, we should end up with at least 27 characters. It's not that hard to put these movesets from one game to another (even @Sectus did it!), so there's basically no excuse for the SCVI roster to be so short ESPECIALLY after the backlash after SCV release.

You do realize that you're basically asking them to release a Soul Calibur 5.5?

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the game to match the roster size of recent SC games. If it's only 20 characters, then it's the smallest roster in 19 years.

As a side note, I personally wouldn't see some characters sneak in with minimal effort. Take their models, voices, and movesets from SC4/5, polish them a little bit so they look a bit more presentable and are fully working, and include them purely as bonus characters (disallow them in ranked play in case they're not fully balanced). Considering Sophitia and Mitsurugi's body models are extremely similar to their models from SC4/5 (even poly count looks to be extremely similar), then other models should hold up too.

Remove the mimics and clones in SCV, and you'll almost get the same number of roster. And with SC6 there is a chance they will add more DLCs characters unlike SCV.

And even they decided to put way more characters at launch, something would got damage, it could be Story, online or something. What make a fighting game SICK for me is the whole package, i want a good balance personally, 20 characters at launch, if all of them are legit and unique, well designed with at least one alt costume, great gameplay, great online, story mode and singleplayers modes, the game is gonna be great. I don't want a game that is just focus on putting as much characters as possible while neglecting other aspects of the game. (For example Tekken Tag 2 had a super huge roster, but the overall game way too disappointing because many other aspects got neglected. And i'm sure this game had a huge budget, but devs only focus on bringing back characters.)

My only concern is a 20 man roster is subtractive when you factor in new characters. It dampens hype because I have to consider who they're replacing.
Then again, Soul Calibur is one of the few games that can take a single slot and turn it into multiples like with CaS selection, so they could theoretically throw the mimic into the CaS slot along with Random Male/Female.

Something i'll add here is that keep in mind, Games with season pass, and games without won't have the same initial budget.

Well, the crew thing never really made much sense. I mean, yeah, a man can have a good relationship with his crew, but still, they're just his employees.

Depending on the captain, employees and close friends. The crew makes perfect sense as a reason if Maxi was a particularly personable sort- which we know he is.

However, in some other topic, I remember I made mention of Maxi's sworn brother, Kyam, as a potential specific reason why Maxi would want revenge. Well, maybe Kyam will actually be a lover instead of just a sworn brother.

You underestimate how important a sworn brother was in history- especially in East Asia. Sworn brothers were seen as closer than actual blood brothers.

"Brothers are like limbs, wives are like clothing. Torn clothing can be repaired; how can broken limbs be mended?"

Making Kyam a lover rather than a sworn brother would actually make the plot make less sense and arguably weaken Maxi's motivation. You can have Maxi be gay without making him gay for Kyam.

Sure, but SC5 was already missing a bunch of other characters from earlier SC games. A common complaint about SC5 was about those missing characters. And how are you defining clones? Do you think any two characters sharing the same weapon to be clones? Characters like Kilik and Seong Mi-na played quite differently despite using similar weapons.

~ random simple math ~
70% = 36 M (3 Y)
10% = 5,142857... (~5,14)
30% = 15,42 M

OKEY ~ SC6 Release 01.04.2019
HAVE FUN :D

Part of initial development caused huge delays in progress though, so assuming it took a year of development and then they reworked everything, the time variable for 3 years is different to the remaining 30%

Not at all. I want all the characters from SCIV to be present (except for guests and bonus), we can remove ZWEI and Viola, change newcomers with the ones they replaced, and voilà, 27 fairly unique characters. Because, despite your claim about clones, you can't say Sophitia and Cassandra play the same even though they have the same weapon.

Kilik and Mina are of course not clones. But characters like Alpha and Omega were clones, yeah i know they don't play same but they were waste of slot imo, those 2 slots should've been given to legit unique characters like Setsu, Zasa or Talim if you ask me.

Bah les 7 restants ça sera dans le saison pass HA :)

Cassie and Sophie aren't clones, wth are you talking about!!

That doesn't mean he would want to avenge everyone. Its just way too many people for him to want revenge like that.

You're basing your claim on a random ancient popular saying?

Kyam isn't a wife though. Read The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller to see how strong a man's motivation can be after the murder of his male lover at the hands of a sworn enemy.

Also... Tea, I don't think in today's climate Soulcalibur 6 would get off easily on putting emphasis on such a sexist, dehumanising mantra, considering the flack SC and especially DOA get in the West just for showing a bit of side-boob.

I mean when i say clones, there are 2 kind of clones:

Asthetically clones: Omega Pyrrah, Alpha Patroklos in SCV
Gameplay clones: Mimics, or Bears Kuma and Panda in Tekken 7 (I'm OK with 1 Mimic per game tho, Mokujin is tigh and Edgemaster is sick)

Both are clones, and i don't want both in the game. (i'm ok with palette swaps tho)
