I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, or what it could mean, but in the official artwork for Sophitia, Mitsurugi and Nightmare, their background is a golden colour.

Whereas, Kilik, Xianghua and Grøh have a silver/grey background colour.

Pretty odd... Wonder if it has any significance?

Hi mate - the golden colour is consistent on all art. However, the backgrounds have been greyed-out somewhat on the official Japanese site, which is where some fans are finding the art. So no, it's not significant as such - hope that helps?

All leg breaks look dumb. I wish they'd stuck to SCV's version if they had to have armour breaking.
I guess I can like headgear and body armor breaks, it's just really hard to make lower body armor breaks work as they just look ridiculous. There'll probably be appeal to lower armor breaks in female characters and I suppose some people might enjoy thiccsurugi, but everyone can agree NM's looks bad.

Ivy must have her dominatrix design again! Cause she is femme fatalle ;) I hope to see Cervantes and Astaroth soon either. Oh and new female character :)

About intro lines, you know what would be exquisite?

When you create your CaS, you can choose 2-3 friends and 1-2 foes. This way, your CaS won't repeat only one intro line against every character. That would be awesome!
If not even something so elaborate, at least maybe draw some inspiration from SoulCalibur III where each voice has good/evil and light/dark variants. Its weakness back then was that it was arbitrarily attached to clothing items and you couldn't choose it yourself, they could just let you pick. But due to your alignment you'd talk to those of similar and opposing alignments differently.

That ... Sounds like an excellent idea!
However, from a modder's standpoint, I see why that would be a hassle to implement. It would be much easier if they simply enabled us to be able to set character personalities, like we could in scV's modding. e.g. If you set Edge Master's personality, the character would have antagonistic response to malfested characters, and friendly responce to Kilik etc.
This will happen only if Bamco allows it, but... Doubtful

I want a simple family choice, like you make one character and you can choose another to be their Mother, Father, Daughter, Son or something like that so they can have unique quotes too.

Very unlikely to happen but I can wish haha

And there’s still those weird pauses in the throws and whatnot. At least the older games have the gems of making the characters do their KO screams with a straight face on repeat.
That speech pattern thing is a cultural thing for the uninitiated and unaware.
Having pauses in speech in Japan like that is normal for them, but awkward as hell for any westerner because it sounds so unnatural.
There are some localization articles I've read throughout the years, one was very good and in depth about it.
Basically, it comes down to the localizers deciding to be faithful (to a fault) to the Japanese script, or take liberties and make things sound more natural.
Guess which ones wins out sometimes despite the clumsiness in deciding to do so to try and be more faithful?

While is appears that SC2 stances and moves are returning, I wouldnt mind if Zasalamel inherited the Abyss moves from SC3.

3BBB
66BK (weird they took this away from Zas)
CH WS B (to give him a side switch while rising throw equivalent to his current WS B)
3KB
4K~BT (would give a legit BT mixup considering Zas has move out of BT but could only set them up through 4B+K CH)
4A+B
6A+B
2B+K (gdlk low)
Abyss could be Zasalamel's Soul Charge.

Pretty much. I like tho how Kilik and Sophie's hairs turn untied.

But when it comes to clothes armor break it's a bit too generic i think. Sophie without her boots is a bit meh tbh. I personally don't want to see Ivy fighting barefoot in this game, it would look wack imo.
Can we actually talk about the feet in Soul Calibur for a moment?
Since III the feet have looked the exact same with all the toes and stuff fused together like some kind of action figure.
On III it was understandable, as it was a PS2 game. IV though? And still not corrected by V, and not even VI from what can be seen either due to the animations is pretty bad.
The fact that V didn't improve upon it was embarrassing enough, but from what I could see so far in SCVI, they're still using the same base models as the basis and aren't creating characters 100% from the ground up just baffles me. It's 2018. Come the fuck on.
We're talking basic human anatomy here that still looks like it's from 2 whole console generations ago.
Compare how feet look human and normal on Street Fighter IV and V to Soul Calibur IV, V, and what can be seen of VI. It's the weirdest fucking thing how they look that outdated still.

I honestly don't like armor breaking in general. I never saw the appeal in it.
Ecchi is very popular in Japan.

I dont want good moves locked behind an install. The missing SC3 and Abyss moves would make SC4 Zasalamel more well rounded considering he struggled with having safe pressure that was quick and stopped crouchers and horizontal step.

Also his lows are kinda weak.

Not a fan of DBZ transformations. Kilik and Gro is more than enough, this could get further away from the light that is Soul Calibur. Might as well play Bloody Roar if everyone can turn into something.

At 3:47 Sophie says "I want to save you" Could this be story related? Like maybe she meets Siegmare on her journey and figures out that Siegfried doesn't want to be Nightmare?
She says that to Nightmare in SC1 for her Destined Battle

It's interesting you mention how feet look normal in SFV. I haven't played any Street Fighter game myself but a friend of mine is a bit of a foot fetishist and when Menat was announced and people got hype about her walking animation I remember him complaining that her feet look unnaturally large and repulsive to him, so maybe there's that to consider. I'll have to look at some gameplay vids to see what you mean with feet being un-updated since like SC3 though.

This is funny considering it's street fighter.

Anyway, I really would have preferred the rips in clothing like in SCIV but I really hope they put a toggle thing cuz it just doesn't look good.

Unfortunately I think it’s possible that CAS, including custom outfits, may have led to those cut corners like the toes. Don’t want to clip past those fancy boots now.

Because of the armor break, I’m really hoping undershirts and underpants can be separate. Socks could return too I guess even though they don’t have as many items. Hope it’s just shins.

To be honest, I have a bad feeling we may go back to SCIV-like layers.

It's exciting that they're going to that much detail for some of the interactions. I really hope to see more of that.

I was playing SCV today and it struck me how stale the dialogue is. Most characters have a single line at the beginning of each fight, only varying when fighting someone they're connected to. At least they have more than one victory quote, but still. It's a fighting game. It requires way less dialogue than most other games with lengthy stories, so you'd think they could afford to record more lines for the interactions. Come to think of it, I think most fighting games have this issue, although Mortal Kombat X had quite a lot iirc.

Regardless, I hope we see more throwbacks to the old games like this :)

I'm not a fan of the armor break thing either. It happens too often and it generally doesn't look good (although I agree Nightmare/Sieg looks amazing in SCVI). It was even worse for custom characters because the whole thing just comes straight off :/ If it has no effect on the gameplay, it should be toggleable.

I think CAS was in a decent place in SCV, although there were some weird things like the whole 'lowest layer can't be orange' thing (like why did that have a totally separate colour palette?) and "this item cannot be worn with this item". I hope they find ways to make that stuff work better this time.

Mostly for CAS I want:
- Just more options in general for each category, especially hairstyles.
- Weapon colour/trail editing to return from SCV
- Face editor using sliders (they did this for the body in V, so why the hell not the face?)
- Select a weapon type and then 'Create a moveset' like in Mortal Kombat Armageddon. But this will never happen.
- If not the above, then at least CAS specific fighting styles (in addition to copying an existing character).
- Better voice/personality options, such as choosing from a list of lines for start of battle, winning, losing, etc. to make characters with the same voice more different

I'd love for the CAS exclusive styles to come back, especially if bonus characters return so we can use them without having to need CAS
