Soulcalibur VI General Roster Speculation Thread

SoulCalibur VI: which 3 characters do you most hope for?

  • A brand new character

  • Amy

  • Cassandra

  • Hilde

  • Hwang/Yunsung and/or Lizardman

  • Rock

  • Setsuka

  • Viola

  • Z.W.E.I.

  • Other: Abyss, Algol, Dampierre, Elysium, Leixia, Li Long, Patroklos, etc.

Results are only viewable after voting.
If the base roster won't have Hwang and Aeon then my guess for the Seaon Pass is:
  1. Tira
  2. Aeon
  3. Hwang
  4. Dante (Devil May Cry)
Although it might be an unpopular opinion to include Hwang and either Aeon or Lizardman as DLC, I am confident that work has been done for these two and it would be a waste of resources to not include them in the game. I would like to see Setsuka and Hilde added eventually though but if we're lucky then they might be in this Season Pass while Hwang and Aeon are added as a free post-launch update for not being able to finish them in time.
As for the guest character, Namco and Capcom have collaborated before and Dante was originally planned to be a guest character. Since Devil May Cry 5 is about to come out, I wouldn't be surprised if they do a cross-promotion and include Dante as the guest character. The reason why I'm predicting Dante to be the guest character instead of 2B is that I'm guessing that the guest character has been decided before word of 2B being a popular potential guest character got to Okubo.

Why not?

Plus they brought Negan in T7 while people were asking for Kazuma Kiryu, so. With all this honestly i can totally see a got guest happening.

DMC5 was annoucned very recently. There is no way they planned to include Dante. He is much less probable than 2B, who was a thing for a much longer time.

Tekken 7 has Bamco favoritism and Arcades' money, aka much bigger budget potential than SC.
T7 is led by Harada, who apparently really likes doing random decisions (I seriously think that Negan is very not fitting for T7, but GoT character would be even worse for SC6 in that regard).

If this was the SP, I’d wait until it’s on sale for $5. That’s a trash DLC roster considering the already terrible to male-to-female ratio.
 
It seems like Project Soul were only a few characters away from making everyone happy... Setsuka, Cassandra, Hilde, Liz, Hwang and everyone would be happy!

No doubt people want Liz and Hwang in the game, but part of it is fueled by expectation via the leaks.

You have a good point though. If all of those (and also Amy) can make the base + SP1, I think the fanbase will be pleased.

Oh no. I hope so much that Aeon and Hwang will be in base game... to free enough space for Setsuka and Hilde in the season pass.
I don't see who would buy season pass for Aeon/Hwang/Dante because. Well, just a sentiment that Setsuka and Hilde would be much more attractive.

And it won't happen but i would have liked for example the very classy Masayuki Sanada from Koei game Spirit of Sanada or corresponding drama. It would have well coincided with timeline.

With Patreon and Kickstarter being a thing these days, assuming they couldn’t find a second DLC series up-front, I wonder what the chances are that the development team could use a funding site if no other option is available?

That would look terrible for the company lol.

Bandai Namco is a hundred million dollar international organization.

SC is not in the best place, but saying it's super desperate for money is exaggerating a bit probably to motivate their employees and get support from the public, just like when Square was saying Final Fantasy XV might be the last game, now it has tons of DLC and other versions of the game, despite the fact the story is mediocre.

I know that this is a rhetorical question and I agree with message it conveys, but I would. I'm not obsessed with male/female ratio and I want to see an updated Hwang and Aeon prety much, so I would be quite satisfied with them (in case they are not in the base). If that would be the case and instead of guest we would get Setsuka - that would be a good SP for me.
Hilde, Amy and Cass can be in second one (if it will be a thing) in such case.
But you're right nonetheless, most probably we will see an all female SP with Hilde, Sets and 2B/Cassandra.
Also I don't understand why everone believes in second SP happening so much.

I'd buy it too, even if the ratio of men to women would become even more ridiculous. I'm worse thing's worse, there's always CaS. It would be more styles to CaS and I want to support the game.
 
I posted my prediction in the prediction thread, so I'll just copypaste here

Season 1
  1. Tira

Season 2

  4. Hilde
I feel like this is the most realistic considering who's left. If they were willing to do an all girls season pass then I'd switch Hwang/Yun for Hilde, but I think they'd want at least one non waifu on the pass. I also don't think there will be a season 3 because there are just literally no more characters lol
 
I don't understand why people are giving up / have given up on Hwang and Aeon so easily. The reveal that we have at least 149 weapons gives them more chance, not less. The limitation of 7 weapons per character and, because of that, Sophitia losing one of her iconic weapons in favor of an axe seems absurd as well. Xianghua having Qing Long isn't a deal breaker for Hwang, either, because there's still enough weapons for him, whether he gets Sapara or Kopis. I'm not losing the faith until they are absolutely not in. If I'm wrong, that's fine, but there's more than enough chance and reasoning for them both to be in the base roster than not.

Season one being Tira, Cassandra, Setsuka, and a second guest then rounds out things nicely, and if we get a season two, and they add Amy, Yun-seong, Hilde, and Rock, then we will have literally everyone except for Li Long and Arthur, Algol and Dampierre.
 
Yeah, I think at least one of Hwang and Aeon have a good chance of making it in base, and then someone else, either Cass or another new character, to really be the "most loaded SC ever." That is my prediction.

There's also plenty of more marginally sellable characters or new characters if they wanted to.


Anyone have an idea of the popularity of characters in Japan?
 
Weapon selections have always been one of the biggest confirmations/deconfirmations of character styles in the games. First, Maxi got bladed nunchaku as part of his kit, and then Astaroth actually had a scythe in SCII, which would promptly be removed and added to Zasalamel’s kit instead in SCIII. Leixia had the aforementioned Qing Long, while Xiba had spears and halberds in his arsenal in SCV.

It’s been a long standing tradition in the series for characters to inherit the weapons of their missing compatriots so that there’s still a way for those weapons to be usable in the game, especially with the addition of CaS. Sophitia having an axe and Xianghua having a dao aren’t exactly odd at this point.

Based on the revealed roster so far, porting an SC3AE character (Hwang) doesn't fit the pattern - and explains more his absence despite being in SC1. I wouldn't be surprised if it were just Inferno and Edge Master left after Raphael. I don't see any reason to hide Lizardman all this time - and seriously doubt they would revamp him to take on traits of another character.

But it is weird for Sophitia to have an axe AND have a Lizardman race AND have a leaked preview of said Lizardman with an axe.
