The Official Nightmare Thread for SCV

What I was thinking was that the new Nightmare was spawned from the original Soul Edge (the short sword). Something else worth noticing was that unlike the Soul Edge in SCIV, this Soul Edge seems to be newly formed; it looks incomplete. I still think Sophitia may be the antagonist based on everything we've seen thus far and if I'm right, this Nightmare is either a servant or is seeking out the original Soul Edge to complete itself. I can imagine that the new host was infected by a fragment and it took over him to seek out the original.
You always come up with great and reasonable speculation. Awesome.

Yeah that's considered short where I live. (Texas) I am 5'11' and I feel average.

Nightmare is now up to 5'8" from 5'6".

-facepalm-

You're forgetting that this game is set in the 1600's, where things like protein shakes and diet pills didn't exist yet.

That's not why people grow tall. And I highly doubt the height has anything to do with the correct representation of the time period. The game is made by Japanese developers. They can't even design a decent booty.

The point however is, Kilik as nightmare is far fetched.

The point is, people didn't have the same resources back then as they do now, so your use of height as reason is invalid.

But I agree, Kilik as Nightmare is laughable.

That's not so much the problem as the heights and weights are proven terribly inaccurate.

I'll be using Starkiller and Siegfried from SCIV for this example, since they took Starkiller's information directly from his game, and Starkiller's model is based almost entirely on his voice actor, Samuel Witwer, so we have a near real life comparison. Using the SC4CCedit and giving them both the same style, you can plainly see that they are approximately the same height, give or take a half inch. This contradicts their listed statistics: Starkiller is listed as 6'1" (185 cm), 178 lbs (80.7 kg), while Siegfried is listed as 5'6" (168 cm), 110 lbs (50 kg). There is somehow 7 inches and 68 pounds of difference between two men that look nearly identical in terms of build.

I REALLY wish I had pictures for this, but alas, my stuff is back home in Seattle. I really wish someone would rip the in-game models so you could all see what I'm talking about...

Basically, using the height and weight information given to us by Namco to say someone is or isn't someone is really dumb unless it's a very large discrepancy that you can actually see in game, such as saying that this Nightmare couldn't be Amy or Astaroth.

This, I understand completely. One can completely assume Siegfried would at least be 200lbs with all that bulk going on.

You are correct in that the height isn't shown properly in game. Cervantes has always been too short, and now Natsu is too tall.

That said, Nightmare has always been listed at 172 cm and to change this is significant.

Generally, Soul Edge takes the appearance of whoever is the primary host and wielder of Soul Edge. Hence why Siegfried became Nightmare, the Azure Knight and copied his fighting style. When Nightmare was defeated by his own host, it's rage and some memories remained intact from his host. So when Zasalamel revived him he came back in the form of his previous self. Albeit with so much damage that he "forgot" a lot of Siegfried's fighting style.

Here, Nightmare is back and carrying Soul Edge. What's more, he appears to have a new host, but isn't taking the new host's fighting style or form. This brings up the question as to who Nightmare could be. My guess is, that the new host could be a zwei-hander user like Siegfried. So someone from Germany or some random person that happened to have grabbed the sword. Could be Hilde's father, possibly. Could also be a someone from Siegfried's Schwarzwind company.

Regardless, we'll find out sooner or later. It'll be curious, though, to see what kind of new stuff Nightmare will "adapt" to his current fighting style.

The new height difference for Nightmare is relevant if not very. There is a purpose for that change. Previously things like weight and height didn't change, except for Cassandra in SC3 who not only visually but bio-wise lost weight.

The height change is to be noted.

Nightmare is a very confusing concept once SC3 hits...since he's separated from Siegfried. But what Nightmare is in Sc3 and SC4 is basically the Azure Armor with memories of the Siegfried's fighting style. So unless those memories fade, he will maintain that appearance.

A new body serves the purpose of sustaining him that is all. However, he might pick up the hosts fighting style while maintaining the Zweihander style

I like the new look of Nightmare, a return to the evil knight look instead of the more demonic theme they had going in SCIV. I also like all of the aspects that they took from the SCII design of him. I wonder if they'll make the Soul Edge eye move while the game is paused like in SCI, it was a neat easter egg.

With respect to the whole host issue, it is possible that he has a new host or Zaalamel has created him another more stable body for him to use while collecting souls.

Wow a plot point that actually doesn't suck. Does this mean we will see Nightmare alt costume "Human Form?" I hope so!

I believe I got that last part wrong. Lemme go over it again...

It's probably Advisor to Earl of Dumas who works under the Holy Roman Emperor...
