Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3

I wasn't hyped about Phoenix at all till I saw her mechanics (well originally I was then wasn't) . She looks like a glass cannon. My theories on what kind of team I'm making is just getting obliterated each reveal. I dont know if I want a MODOK/Arthur Keep Away. Wesker/X-23 rush down, or Phoenix battery team. So pissed im not at the secret event playing it right now (fuck you capcom's Snow! maybe tell people you'll only let like 5% in before you get our hopes up and bait us for a few days?).

Haggar looks like a good gief. No fire breath, but fuck it I get a pipe! So many throws too, love how many ways he can grab you.

I believe the Akuma reveal and even I'm caving to the revealed list. Im hoping its incomplete tho. I'm convinced Megaman is in.

Ah games too pro, can't wait. I need to find this secret event or sneak into CES.
 
two characters seems a bit of a let-down for me, they must still be hiding some big stuff, they've already let Galactus out of the bag and all... You know there's some more characters that back in the good old pre-Disney Marvel days... The Transformers... lol not that'll ever happen *sigh* go team Megatron
 
So many team ideas are gearing in my head too. Thinking of bringing in the first team I ever TRIED to use the very first time I played MvC2. Sent/Hulk/Akuma. LOL

Really interested in Trish/Doom/Haggar team now.
 
It's nice to know everyone looks like a valid point character, some more than others. I'm seeing so much unique playstyle in the characters when they're on point it seems you can really shift your strategy in combat instead of relying on one person with obscene assists. I expect teams will have counter options in mind such as teaming Wesker to combat projectiles with teleport punish and then playing a keep away character like Arthur when Hulk hit's the stage.

come to think of it what would Phoenix do as a THC? We only saw 2 Hypers, a level 5 resurrection, and a lvl 3 heal (heal everyone?!? for a lvl 5 THC?).
 
think it works as a bubble, thats how it looked anyway; so say you call in an assist or perhaps even a three character special she could heal them as it goes down... I'm just hoping Rolento comes along for team Chris/Deadpool/Rolento
 
I can see a lot of funny upsets with her getting combo'd at the wrong time in phoenix mode or having a ridiculous come back.
 
Well, the leak was legit which....*sigh*... means Akuma and Sentinel are in *facepalm*(mumbles to self) fuckin bullshit. Oh well, i'm over it i guess and looking forward to Hsien-Ko, Taskmaster and DLC. I wasn't originally happy about Phoenix too much but i think Capcom did a good job with her and she turned out really nice. Vote Mike Haggar for the manliest Mayor in Manville, he is pure awesomeness as expected.

Oh, and Chun-Li's lightning legs are downright stupid fucking good both on point and assist. Shit almost single handedly got Justin his win on Marn at that Vegas Tournament.
 
Yeah. That Trish keep away pressure with chun assist was really awesome. The homing scythe plus legs gives you so much time to just rain hell on the opponent. Not sure how I feel about those Dante x-factors tho.
 
Anybody notice how Mike Haggar does two body splashes in a row for his arial rave combo? He does one, then another that is slightly tilted at an angle so they are different animations. I mean seriously? A multiple body splash mid-air juggle? Who the fuck is really that manly to pull that shit off?!

Anyone else notice his Lariat took health, like in FF? Dizzy pointed that out to me. Speculating possible full body invincibility?
 
Heres hoping Pheonix is actually good. She's look super weak from the vid and saving up 5 levels for 15 seconds of super cosmic powers hardly seems worth it. On top of that, if you have someone better on ur team, u might want to give them the X-Factor instead (which jus makes Dark Pheonix even more unattractive.)
The roster is amazing tho. Its gonna be really hard deciding on a team. I like so many ppl lol =(
 
Have a bad feeling people are gonna vastly overrate certain characters after last night's "secret event". People were screaming over how good chip was and Storm for it, but you'll notice the players like Marn shrugged off chip damage with advancing guards. This is gonna be one of those complaint areas where scrubs are gonna rage rather than learn to defeat it. There's so much damn turtling right now (which is fine and expected), but it's making people think some characters are bad or don't have a way in. When people find good assist lead in and ways to get through zoning tactics the tier list is gonna completely shift. Also some characters are easier to figure out or have been exposed more for learning. I think Dante is good, but will go down a few when people start learning the other characters more.

I think about the only speculation I'm agreeing with is that Chun li is a beast on point and Assist. Trish homing scythe + lightning leg lock down makes for some sick pressure and gives you a LOT of time to do whatever you want, which for Trish means setting traps...so much synergy! Also Amaterasu activating slow down then switching to X-factor chun-li....TOO MUCH OWNAGE POTENTIAL. She's stupid fast. Also notice the hit box on lightning legs?!? It hits behind!

Good news is that Arthur DOES have double jump.

Phoenix needs more info given on Dark Phoenix and healing before a real assumption can be made. She can be considered OP or under powered very easily depending on how you way the pros vs cons with her. She seems like you'll have to really consider her dynamic contribution to a team to use her though, I don't see pocket Phoenix's that you can squeeze in any team happening. Her need for meter means your other characters need to be doing fine with out spending it all (no C.Viper!). One theory might be: turn her dark Phoenix, switch her out, start a combo in to Hyper, DHC for stupid damage.

Another area of curiosity...do characters that have activated buffs get affected as assists? EX: Does Arthur change if he's in another armor mode like he does on point with his assist too? Will Dark Phoenix be better on assist?
 
I think the only thing that concerns me as well as makes me happy in other areas is the full screen pushback with advancing guard. I started training on TvC very recently and getting Zero off me has been a huge pain in the ass. Frame trap after Frame trap even if I push him out (i know very little so im sure with time and research i'd find the windows of opportunity, but still jesus). So full screen push definitely makes me happy in those cornered scenarios...but then it might buff the keep away characters too much. I mentioned people were not fully exploring options to get in, but the idea to just be sent back out is another competing factor. However you can't advancing guard push assists, so maybe running in, dropping a chun lightning legs pressure assists, and then making your move back in will be a necessary strategy. If you get pushed back on leading in, make sure you get the assists to hold them down and get back on them.

Captain America looks like trash. I saw somewhere that his flip has even been nerfed, not even projectile invincibility anymore. I will not purchase or play a game with a trash-tier Captain America who doesn't even have good gimmicks.
 
For some reason, I'm so over Sentinel.
As much as I dont mind him coming back (really people? Did u not expect it in Marvel?) Im lookin forward to Hsien-Ko and Taskmaster more. Taskmaster the most tho.
