Viola Combo & Tech Trap Discussion

Well, it's good to know that others are having the same issue. I thought I was going crazy for a bit.

Edit: So what are the optimal combos for each level of meter then?

Also, I can confirm that it is indeed air control which is causing the AAB to screw up.

same thing happened to me. I asked in the Q&A and even posted a video and no one gave me a good answer. Only one person said I was doing AAB too soon, but it wasn't the case ;)

Dest, let the opponent hit the ground during b+k be before the 2A+B hits them and it will allow for a 2nd 2A+B in combo. I was messing around with it and was able to get it consistently using that method. I don't think the 9k has anything to do with it.

seems like the combo sticky is not being updated too often.
I keep a fairly complete list of combos here

i still need to test ORB 3B 6A+B 2B. It is noted there, but i don't think it connects after patch. Or if it ever did.

It does work. I have been testing and it works on all males, Hilde and Ivy. :P The other girls are small enough it wont hit. And you can do 3B 6A+B 2B+K BE etc.. if they do NOT ukemi

SET 2B+K be can be canceled into B+K be and hit them as long as you arent too close. It doesn't do the full launch but it pops them up far enough to do the following. You can connect this from pretty damn far away.

SET 2B+K BE B+K BE 6[A+B] 2B+K BE AAB 66B 66A+BB

[Notice]The New Official Viola Tech Traps and Discussion.

From now on new tech traps will be listed and discussed here. Your old posts in the old thread shall be merged into this one, so don't worry![/notice]

oi found a use for B+K BE/ throw
if you do it with the a+g throw you can follow it up with 6b+k Not set and do the aab combo from there on, but do the 66b finish, combo limits prevent you from do the 9k ending

Combo and 2 50/50 resets including an (almost) instant kill:

N/O Backgrab, 44A BE (2 orb hits), 6B+K, 6B, Backgrab, 3B, AAB, 2A+B,* 2B+K BE, AAB, 8A+B.
146 damage (50% meter) The 8A+B ender forces them to take a 6B+K mixup, meaning they then have to guess for survival.
* If you don't have the meter, 6A+B slight charge, 44K instead.

Resets:
N/O Backgrab, 44A BE (2 orb hits), 6B+K, 6B, slight delay (Reset) Backgrab, 44A BE (2 orb hits), 6B+K, 6B, Backgrab, 3B, AAB, 2A+B, 2B+K BE, AAB, 8A+B.
228 damage. (75% meter)
*If you delay the final backgrab slightly and it pays off, you have a deathcombo.

N/O Backgrab, 44A BE (2 orb hits), 6B+K, 6B, slight delay (Reset) 44A BE (2 orb hits), 6B+K, 6B, Backgrab, 3B, AAB, 2A+B, 2B+K BE, AAB, 8A+B.*
216 damage (75% meter)
*This doesn't instant kill on its own, but what you can do is delay the backgrab after the 2nd 44A BE and the scaling will reset, turning it into a death combo for two resets, not one.

I didn't see this in here, but the layout kinda confuses me..
Pretty cool new combo for me..

SET 44A BE (at second orb hit->) B+K BE 66B 66A+B.B
Does about 120+.
SET 44A BE dash backwards (at second orb hit->) B+K BE 6B+K dash forwards A.A.B 66B 66A+B.B

(against BT opponent) SET 6B+K 6B A+G_B+G 44A BE (at second orb hit->) B+K BE 66B 66A+B.B
Does about 169.

SET 44A BE dash forward (at second orb hit->) 6B+K 3K B+K BE 66B 66A+B.B for about 129 damage.

Edit: Oh, and 2B+K 2K_2B is a great mixup/setup. If they don't tech the 2B+K, you can do 66A+B.B (also catches right a little, I think.) and if they do tech, 4B catches all directions.

Soo did the patch perhaps change 2a+b? I was trying to do the b+k be combo that uses the at angle 2a+b and no matter what I try they aren't relaunching back turned. Am I missing something or did this Change?

yeah its already on here, but still good to remind folks

Here's a pretty thing:

Any launch that goes into SET AAB, slight charge 6A+B
- If they land in a corner, Set 6B+K 3A techtraps all directions into fresh relaunch wall combo. (Which, meter provided will most likely result in a kill)
- If they stay down, 6B+K 2B+K BE is the mixup for a smaller combo, but re-scaled damage, positional advantage and fresh mixups garunteed/RO if you use something like 8A+B as your final ender near say a destructable/low wall.

If you guess wrong on the techtrap, 6B+K makes it completely safe.
If you guess wrong with 2B+K BE, either you get a straight KND or heavy blockstun on the opponent.
Risk - 0
Reward - Huge.

why do you know so much about viola isnt a pat your character lol

Alpha is my main, but Viola is my secondary. I've found I suit a high damage 50/50 rushdown archetype in this game pretty naturally and my Viola is only 3 weeks old, but I've played her in tournament (and won) and today went 43 - 0 in offline casuals.

My Alpha is better though, Docvizzo almost triple perfected my Viola online last week - served me right for not training at all against Cervantes beforehand, lol.

Anyway, why are you complaining - this shit is golddust!
