What you LIKE about SCV.

I like that, in the story, Cervantes has been upgraded from a revenant/lich to a full-blown Eldritch abomination. No more purple skin and exposed rib cage, he can just choose to look however he wants to look and altar reality to his own will. Yeah, although his play style is a little different than in past games, Captain Cervantes de Leon is back and the laws of this natural realm are his bitch.

EDIT: And I like that they actually acknowledge Aeon Calcos' name instead of being a generic "lizardman" and DOUBLE AXES

I like Viola (not being sarcastic), I like Leixia.

I like the way Phyrra knows her place and apologizes for everything, even when you hit her XD

I like the option of capture images in CAS mode, I like the option of capture videos on Online mode.

I like the three special items on CAS mode.

Despite its limitations I actually love CAS mode.

I like the LOTR-like scenarios (forest, castles with Ogres roaming around, battlefields)

The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one. I for example have a fear of warm fur coats.

Should I maybe change it to like, a picture of Daishi?

Defiantly the fast pace. I tried playing SC4 and couldn't believe how sluggish it was compared to SC5

I also like

-The side step mechanic
-Meter mechanic
-Just Guards

Minor details

The fact that characters say something when they're rung out. I like small details like that.

I like SC5's engine. It's fast, offensive-orientated and forces the player to make REAL decisions (instead of backstepping all day with SC4 Ivy).
And I also like that movement is finally unsafe. Best thing that has happened to Soul Calibur in the last decade in my opinion.

I love love love the 3 mimic characters! And how I don't have to waste hours playing through an overly dramatic storyline. And OMG! Getting rid of the character endings in the arcade mode was simply brilliant!!!!!

But seriously though.... the netcode, the new fighting styles (just wish we didn't have to lose any from before), and the pace of gameplay, and yeah...I'm a sucker for the gorgeous graphics.

I like the new fighting styles they made with ZWEI and Viola. Unlike some complaints i feel like they fit right in and i'm glad they introduced them so smoothly. For 2D related characters they perform nicely, are unique, and require a different mindset when playing as them and fighting against them.

And they did a good job getting players from other fighting games into this one which is crucial for the scene. This all thanks to the meter management and guard burst system which i thought was implemented brilliantly. As well as the new characters like Viola and ZWEI which seemed to draw in the 2D gamers. If they keep up with this trend of making each character unique and nicely implemented, along with fine tuning the new system mechanics and fixing certain issues i believe Bamco and Project Souls have a serious gold mine on their hands.

-fast pace. Not much else to say here

-favors offensive gameplay. I prefer to call this "anti-turtle"

-Meter management. I love the new GI, I almost like JG, love BE's, and CE's are just "OK" in my eyes. Overall it was implemented well even though there are some BE's that are fucking pointless/ not worth the meter.

-love the new quickstep, but hate the fact that sidestepping moves now require an additional 10 frames, unless you do something like 662 or 663.

-love how there is at least 1 stage that has no walls, or ring outs. There needed to be a stage like this 3 games ago.

-Love the music, voice acting, and facial expressions.

-netcode. Nuff said. (Even though I am jealous that my internet sucks so bad that it's still unviable for me, I mean for fucks sake, it doesn't even have 1G capabilities.)

-Balance. This can't be stated enough. Can I be so bold as to say there are probably no 8-2 matchups in this game? You mean I can play a SC game where IVY isn't broke as fuck?? I'm in.

-No more Amy.

-toning down the execution barriers. Although I wish the game further reduced execution than it already has, I feel like they are at least going in the right direction. I have a dream that one day a SC game will come out and you won't have to spend hours getting those JF's down, or shit like iCS (heck even CS is too hard for me). Instead I wish people could spend all that time practicing matchups, or studying frames or other shit like that. The game should be about mindgames, not pointless execution barriers. *looks at you, Apat*. To balance this out, if they make a move easy to do, they should also tone down the move's effectiveness in some way.

That's pretty much it.

Edit: I almost forgot. I fucking LOVE Pat.

Even though they did this to Dampierre, I like the fact that Algol, aPat, Pyrrha O, Edge Master, Elysium, and Kilik can be unlocked and are not dlc characters already on the goddamn disk you have to pay for twice (looks at Streetfighter x Tekken)

I love the depth of CAS. It definately has a lot more options than IV had and has let me fill many USB save files with ideas, only two out of nine of which are "conversions". Graphically it stomps every other fighter, to the point where when I played a borrowed Tekken Tag 2 it was downright repulsive in comparison. And dat speed.. the only fighter I've played lately that's faster paced is Blazblue.

For all its faults (which I still attirbute more to Namco pulling the plug prematurely to focus on the holy "Tekken" but that's just my theory) SCV is the only fighting game I play continually and in that, I think it's the best fighter on the market and it's a crying shame Namco doesn't show it the love it deserves.

Hilde.
Netcode.
Elysium CE(People who dislike are just jelly cuz they don't have machine gun and wings at the same time.)
Meter, not much yet.
