What's up with all the Algol hate?

Considering I use Algol, NarokKurai is completely right. Algol is:
  • Mostly Naked
  • Steals moves from Urien
  • Not ashamed of it
He's the troller of trolls, and he's a badass because of it. Haters gonna hate.

I mean, I won't ragequit an Algol fight, and I won't send hatemail unless they're being an obvious dick, but, when playing alone, I will make a point to punctuate every iGDR combo with "SUCK IT YOU BUBBLE SHOOTING MOTHER FUCKER"
 
you can easily check maxou discussion >.>.....it seems best world players think algol needs to be patched asap....
if you do not you should explain why at least...starting from points explored in that post would be a good start.

they also think algol was broken and cass was higher tier then amy.

Being good at a game=/= being able to qauntify it
 
I hate algol for two VERY IMPORTANT reasons..
1. You can't change his weapon skins, just his smoke color.
2. You can't use his style for a female algol CaS.
Beyond that... no beef.
 
I love Algol. There is not a single character that didn't make that cut from SCIV I would rather have over him.

I still lose to him pretty badly though - so I can see where the saltiness might come from. Of course, I lose pretty badly to Raph as well if the player knows what their doing...so whatever.

that can be true but if i have to choose between a proven player giving reasons behind his statements and a random gif....

actually anyone giving reasons is better than a gif....
Afaik algol has a really high damage output with aaB that seems hit confirmable and combos for huge damage, as well as an exagerate range on everything, that absurd throne teleport (maybe i've missing something but how is that supposed to be punished/evaded? >.>) and full life or 238 dmg combos....
It isn t even so unsafe....and his low pokes are really good.
Add advancing TC tracking dash moves that leads again to combos....

dunno if its broken but its not nearly low for sure.....i'd say at least high tier if not top.

talking of bad design...nothing beats viola and zwei....and now that 80% of eu players use viola its evn worse .-. (not talking about strength...but annoyance).
 
I put the gif up SPECIFICALLY so I wouldn't have to actually discuss it with you. I'm more willing to discuss it now that you said "dunno if its broken but etc." Throwing the word broken around for a game that has still barely been out for a significant length of time, regarding a character that hasn't placed in any major capacity is worthy of a gif laughing at your ass.

Seriously people, under-rated powerful characters can exist without being broken. I'll eat my foot when everyone switches to Algol, but right now Viola is in the way don't you think?

i don't....
I think this game is made of awful matchups so when some moves/tactics are broken in some matchup, the same are terrble in others.....

and the thing is so bad that some even some 5:5 matchup are really bad
See raph VS sieg for example (i suppose it being 5:5 because both characters have tools to render useless half of other character moveset lol).


So possibly most of you defending algol because you play some problematic mathcups do not see that his moveset is actually really really over the curve in term of damage, range and speed with some moves that really shouldn t even exist and those in other matchups become a problem.

But i am in favor of a HUGE nerf of every single character....so i may be biased.
 
Algol was designed with a not-so-obvious flaw... You'll see that most of his attacks are easily stepped and you can work on him when he whiffs. There are a couple exceptions (his 44AA) can link into his CE, but is punishable severely on block. His other horizontals are high and slow, meaning you can space him and play safe for the most part. To compensate for his lack of step punish, he's returned the favor when his vertical attacks land. In higher level matches he's pretty tricky to play as, and I bet in the next couple months we're going to start seeing some amazing bubble setups on walled levels.
 
The only thing I hate about Algol is a casual issue (wat's with all this gameplay n' strategy talk in mah casual forum guys?) I hate the bubbles. I mean, WTF. Could PS have picked a more hokey, out-of-place mechanic to give to a resurrected ancient king? They just look damn stupid to me. What is it about a hero king that gives him the ability to shoot frigg'n BUBBLES?

His story is absolutely epic. I love it. Ancient king who created the swords, so damn awesome he has a STAR named after him, floating around the stage LIKE AN UNDEAD SUPERNATURAL BOSS, and he... shoots bubbles at you.

his AA and 6AAB has a huge range, his 66A is a TC i17 .
2A is not bad also.

I mean -12 hitconfirmable 6AA is almost safe.

Outspacing his range also is not so easy.

They can be high but algol has plenty powerful mids to discourage ducking.

Its not like rugi or greeks with tracking BBs but i don t think he lacks antistep tools.
 
2nd hit of 6AA can be ducked, first is -18. What's the point of hitconfirming if either wrong guess is a launch(or equivalent) for most the cast?
66A is also (mildly)unsafe and high. Do you realize the sheer number of tech crouching moves in this game? sidestep into a tech crouching move and his options are severely limited. 2A whiffs at random, has short range.
Outspacing him range wise isn't your goal. You're outspacing his horizontal options to bait a whiff.
Almost all those power mids are linear or slow. Thus it's a high risk high reward guess on both players parts.
You're not even bringing up some of his best step killing tools either, which further proves you don't really know the character.

You can step throne teleport.

Full life combos take a full 2 Bars of meter and only do that much damage off a slow very linear launcher. While they don't require crazy execution they still require the use of iFC8B* buffer(which is a non issue but someone is going to bring it up).

AA doesn't actually have that good of range. 2nd hit is shorter than the first so can whiff.

Lacking punishers other than 4BA which either leaves him with no oki save risky Q-Flip stuff, disadvantage despite them being grounded, or you settle for an inconsistent combo. 6KK doesn't connect on that much, 2nd hit of AA whiffs at times. His 66B and 3B punishers only deal more damage if you burn meter.

Which brings me to my other point. Lacks very solid natural hit damage outside of meter. This isn't saying I want more. I think he's at a great place with it. Enough that he still hits and you can't sneeze at him, but not Cervantes-damage. Thus he's revolves around meter. not the very best at building that meter either, and it takes some conscious decisions whether you want meter over something else throughout the match(land an up close CH 1B. Do you tack on FC8B after the bubble or 66B?) This isn't a problem, nor does it keep him from within top 5. Just keeps him from broken.
