Why do people spam

People spam because they're to lazy to learn a lot of moves, so they learn like, 1 or 2 combos that they repeatedly use. What I do, when I meet with a spammer, I'll learn what attacks they'll use, so that when they use them, I can think of a counter to them.

Mitsurugi's :2::K:,:B: is an attack that I see spammed by a lot of 10 year olds that are plain garbage at the game.

People spam because they don't need to use anything else. Against someone who absolutely doesn't block, I spam BB over and over again. I know all the other combos and moves. But there is just no point in me using them because I know BB will hit. If you are playing rock paper scissors, and you know the other person is always going to use rock, is there a point in mixing up between rock or scissors?

Complaining about spamming is like complaining about someone who beat you on a multiple choice test by marking "C" for every answer. Learn what you're doing wrong and you will overcome. (Hint: block their attack one time, and attack them back at advantage).

I push some buttons, you push some buttons, and one of us wins. End of story.

In fact, if I get 10+ parries off I consider it a win for me because I've compensated and shown myself a high level of play under the most adverse circumstances.

... Really? I thought a win is when the other guy is lying on the ground and it says
"you win".

People spam because it works. Show them it doesn't and people will either ignore you or stop spamming.

Most likely they'll just ignore you and spam someone else.

If you have a Mitsu that does 2KB repeatedly, that is spam. Jump/block punish every time.

If you have a Mitsu that does 2KB and alternates with 66BB, that is NOT spam.
That is an aggressive 50/50 mixup- which is what Mitsu is. Now, it may not have complexity, but regardless, it is not a move repeated over and over.

If you find a spammer, trounce him. If you find a 50/50 guy, compliment him on his simple yet effective tactic.

(Or you could beat him too if you see through his pattern, whatever you want.)

Regardless. You don't have to fight spam with spam. That's just detrimental to your own development.

... it goes without saying if you start getting 3 bars or less you should opt out, and should not have accepted in the first place.

And stop playing Ranked already. It sucks.

LOOK i was tired ok it was late and i was playing a ranked match and it kind of pissed me off lol.

both of which are sad ,and yeah block then hit with the advantage or if they spam verticals side step them into oblivion

im not complaining even when i block or GI im still screwed so clam down looks like you went through this before.

Please give me directions. I wish to join your alternate reality.
Someone who beats you with the same move over and over is smart 'cause you never stopped it. It's boring, but the strategy is only invalid if you shut it down.

When it's a laggy Mitsurugi with a two-bars connection, there's not much that you can do about it, because you can't hope to block properly, sidestep, GI, or whatever.
And you can't really counterspam unless you're also Mitsurugi, because he has speed AND range.

Why are you playing a 2 bar match in the first place? There's absolutely no point in doing so.

Simply cuz it might of dropped to two during the fight. I for one will not disconnect no matter the lag or my opponents lag tactics.

But I wont willingly join anything less than 4

i haven't had much problems with spammers. it's just annoying, in general(< grammer lol). i'll admit, that when i sometimes encounter spammers, i like to give them a taste of their own medicine. i'm not saying it's the right thing to do. but i do it in hopes that they realize how irritating it is. maybe they stop and actually try to gain more skill or they just continue to spam. it's a 50/50 mixup! lol

In that case, I couldn't find anything interesting in player matches, so I went in ranked. At first the connection was 1 bar... but it's typically temporary. It usually goes up to 3, 4 or even 5 after a few seconds. So I decided to take a chance, instead of waiting.

...And 5 bars can be more laggy than 3 bar matches in some rare cases. I only said two-bars to make my example clearer.
So it has nothing to do with my explanation above. It's only about mitsurugi spammers in matches with heavy lag. And by heavy lag, I mean a 0.5 second delay.

Directly asking for lag tactics is already bad enough, but this is getting asinine.

Here's the hypothetical:

You join a match with random Mitsu spammer #839 doing the flip-a-coin mixups of 66BB, 1A, BB, 2KB. The connection was either at half-second lag or dropped to that mid-match. Why would you stay in this room:

1. where winning and losing the match boils down to a glorified version of "Deal or No Deal",
2. where if you lose, you're going to predictably get all whiny about the spamming and the lag,
3. where if you win, you're not going to have advance your skill in any way shape or form nor have any fun,
4. where online ranks mean dick in terms of skill, and a quit doesn't drop your W/L record anyway,
5. with a depthless asshole you don't even know?

Why? Is it honor? Or "quitters never win"? LOL

Quit. The. Match.

It doesn't matter what Threat Level the connection level is at.

If you have unacceptable lag, hit the Start button and select "Yes."

Personally, I disagree. There's no excuse for quitting, even if you're losing against someone who's whoring mixup under lag.

I also disagree that fighting those types of people won't make you better. Lag is lag, but someone who just uses mixup (with the best mixup character in the game I might add) just teaches you to have better defense.

Most of what people call spam isn't spam. Its usually low attacks mixed in with whatever vertical happens to be faster than the one their own character is using. No one spams 2KB with Mitsurugi. They would never even get into range for that low kick to matter if that was the case (Sophies 1A,A and/or 4A,A,A on the other hand...that straight up gets spammed - but Sophie has special powers to turn any player in to garbage on the internet, so I guess its not their fault)

Personally, I prefer ranked matches. I don't have to wait as long and don't get grief for sticking with my main and not wearing a mic. If it lags up and I lose ('cause I always lose when the connection drops. period.) I just right it off as bad luck. What's the point of getting mad at my opponent for spamming in a match that drops to an unplayable level. What the hell else is he supposed to do with almost a second of input lag or patches of matrix-like slowdown? If its not unplayable, even if it means I got to guess instead of react, I'm still gonna lose from time to time but as long as I feel like I'm playing the damn game I'm cool with it. Its not like online ranking matters, so even if I feel that I lost to stuff I shouldn't...big whup.
