Xenosaga and Xenogears

I was curious if anyone here every played any of the Xenosaga games. This trilogy has to be one of my favorite game series of all time, despite its flaws. Any Xenosaga or Xenogears fans out there?
 
I never was fortunate enough to play Xenogears (Yes I know it's awesome, that's what everyone says). Played Xenosaga 1 and 2. Loved the first one. Hated the second one. Didn't bother with 3 since 2 put such a bad taste in my mouth.

So, I can't say I'm a fan of the Xenosaga series. I'm a fan of the first one and I do love the characters. It's just unfortunate that the series got shafted in 2 and gave the series the bad it has now (the gameplay of the second was retarded as well). 3 tried to save it, but after 2, not many (including myself) really cared.
 
Ditto on the general Xenosaga trend: played 1 and enjoyed the characters and plot, but then 2 made me wish I hadn't spent the money on the game. My brother has played 3 and keeps telling me to give it a chance because it actually has a solid gameplay system, but the shadow of 2 just won't go away. =/

Xenogears... was a fantastic game, though I felt like it was really strongest in the earlier acts. Disc 2, where the team clearly ran out of budget... still some great plot there, but the gameplay took a hit.

I agree that 2 was a disappointment, but 3 was definitely the best of the trilogy. You should definitely make a point of playing it (especially since it's cheap now) if you played 2.

Xenogears was great on the first disc, but horrible on the second. It felt far, far, too rushed.
 
im a huge fan of the xenosaga series. ive still got to play xenogears at one point in my life.

i love KOS-MOS' design.
 
Those that loved 1, but hated 2, need to really play 3. 3 was the best in the series by far, and 2 was such a pile of shit. Even though I finished 2, I hated the damn thing and wish I never played it. Even the story in 2 wasn't that important aside from the fact that it does serve as an introduction to Shion's brother, Jin.
 
I played qll of Xenosaga, but not Xenogears. I feel neutral toward 2, but I loved 1 and 3. I think 3 was my favorite though.
 
I played Xenogears and the first Xenosaga. I have to say that I hated both. The characters are very bland to me; they're basically a textbook case of why I dislike Japanese storytelling. Too often, the characters take everything so seriously that you have to pause and consider just how ridiculous the whole story sounds when put together.

I love complex plots as much as the next man, but there's a thin line between complex and convoluted.
 
Haha..I have the same opinion as everyone else here. 3 really was the best. Simplistic yet fun battle system (something that was definitely not present in 2) and the cutscenes were just amazing, especially the ending.
 
Xenogears is the best game ever created. I have finished Xenosaga 1 but I just can't get past the beginning of Xenosaga 2. It's just that bad so until then I will never know how good 3 is.

For anyone that hasn't played Xenogears, you are missing out on one of the best plots ever. I remember when I found this new in EB a long time ago, and the sole reason I bought it was due to me being a Squaresoft junkie. The girl at the counter told me she thought it was one of Square's best games, and she was so right.

Just be prepared to put up with slow and balky combat system.
