Xiba Non-Gameplay Discussion Thread

As far as muscles go.....I would have pictured him like this....

I think Xiba's figure just needs to be toned down slightly, especially his chest and stomach.

his feet are distractingly ugly.

The quality of the 3d model of feet are generally low priority, but when your gimmick is that you've gone shoe-less for 15 years, they could at least not have the feet look n64.

In other news not related to Xiba appearance. I wonder if he will gain any high energy moves to go along with his high spirited personality. I also wonder if he will have his own take on Kilik's moves similar to Phyrra/Sophie

How disappointing I was hoping for some kind of badass warrior or a spear user to replace Kilik but insted we got a Travel to the west themed Kilik.

That's almost a given. I can see Xiba as having a fun, upbeat version of Kilik's movelist. Wonder if that means he'll be keeping 3A+B ;)
One good thing about successors, it's entertaining to see them take their predecessor's moves and put their own spin on things :D Especially since Namco seems like they're trying to make the styles heavily reflect personality this time.

No one came up with the idea that he might use the pole with his legs? Sure looks like he would, those nimble nimble toes

That's something I was thinking too! I'm pretty sure he'll also have more kicking moves. Maybe he'll pull out some "kick the rod on an enemy and make it bounce back towards him" kind of ridiculous but cool moves.

Xiba is perfect idk wtf y'all are talking about

I was kinda hoping for a shonen DOA Elliot-esque style too but that doesn't quite fit SC's style, and Xiba's build probably won't look that big in-game. A weak little kid would be pretty stupid in the SC series come to think of it. Only fighters and women are allowed in this game :)

As long as he's not horribly voice-acted we might finally have an upbeat character done right.

Yes it does. Xiba has a similar build, hair, and personality, probably, to Yun Seoung. They also share the "young and spunky" trope. He will replace Kilik/Mina mechanically, and Yun Seoung aesthetically -- anything else and we'd have characters that are too similar to each other. He has the potential to eliminate 2 characters (maybe 3), making room for more new characters and styles.
I can understand eliminating 1 character maybe 2(depends why) but 3? NO!!! HELL NO!!!. Kilik is the only person that should be removed maybe Soeng-Mina, but NOT Yung Sung. I dont care about build, or none of that crap.Maybe personality. (We don't even know his personalitity anyways!!!) All i'm tryin to say was it doesn't make sense to say there might take away Yung because he LOOKS like him!!!! It dont make sense!!!

He's not Korean, he's from Zhen Hang Mountain in the Ming Empire (China).

1.

Because Xiba isn't "Korean" persay, he isn't going to replace Yunseong.

But yes, Yunseong could have been replaced if Xiba was Korean. Usually it takes one character to represent an audience, especially with the minority characters who aren't Japanese and Chinese, but even these characters are getting put back a little with the Eurasian references coming in (Natsu, Setsuka, Arthur).

If it weren't for the fact that Seong Mina had history, and fans love that character a lot (which I do love her as well), I bet she would have been easily replaced by Kilik and have Yunseong as the only Korean character instead. Hence how she never even appeared in Soul Calibur 2 (Yunseong's debut) at first. The consoles was when they decided to put her in.

Weapon-wise, however, Yunseong's style is too unique to remove, but most of that style is based on Yunseong's personality.

2. He was raised in the Zhen Hang Mountains. It doesn't necessarily mean that he's of "Chinese" ethnicity, even though he probably will be. Look at Kilik. He was raised in China, but lord knows what his ethnicity is.
