Xiba Non-Gameplay Discussion Thread

That's almost a given. I can see Xiba as having a fun, upbeat version of Kilik's movelist. Wonder if that means he'll be keeping 3A+B ;)
One good thing about successors, it's entertaining to see them take their predecessor's moves and put their own spin on things :D Especially since Namco seems like they're trying to make the styles heavily reflect personality this time.
I hope that is the case. Kilik was a very boring person to fight. Maybe Xiba can breath some life back into the pole arm style for me.

The only safe assumption here is that Xiba is replacing Kilik. Don't know where all this Mina crap is coming from. Mina will have her own replacement because she is not the same as Kilik! Geez, have you people even played SCIV?

As for Yun-Seong, Xiba might be replacing Yun in terms of personality, and to a lesser extent design, but thing is, Yun could still return. He just wouldn't be the same as he's aged considerably and will be a lot more mature. That way we still have that spunky young male archetype since Yun will no longer play that role.

And even if Yun isn't returning, it's because he's getting his own replacement too. I mean, someone's gotta wield the Chinese broad sword.

You do know they where once clones right. If Xiba gets some of Mina's acrobatic moves and a couple of her strings coupled with his some brand new moves he would be sick.

I'm surprised you story crafters don't already know it.
A lot of Kilik's lore are of Hindu or Buddhist origins.
He's Indian.

Buddhist origins doesn't automatically mean that he's from India, because Buddhism is practiced in other countries as well.

I think Namco determines whether his origins are Indian or not. Until then, he's unknown, yet raised in China.

I'll bite. Kilik is likely Budhist but that doesn't mean hes Indian! The name Kilik is an oddly romanized spelling of " Qi Li-Ke" judging from tge characters that make up his name. And furthermore, despite this odd romanization, theres even a mountain trail in Xinjiang called "Kilik Pass". The fact that he grew up in China (or maybe even Tibet to tie in the Budhist aspect more closely), has a Chinese name and looks Chinese strongly suggests he is from China. Do remember that he is a monk, and Budhism is one if the most widely practised religeons in China. He certainly wasn't designed as an Indian character, of that we can be sure - more like an ambiguous Chinese (or Tibetan) character.

With all due respect, LordOfLogic, this isn't "Kilik's origin thread".

Moving on, there was a short trailer featuring the four newly announced characters during the stream earlier, and it showed some of Xiba's moves. He's quite the flexible and agile boy as we expected. His CE involves him doing a big volley of kicks or something, bringing the opponent in the air and finally slamming them to the ground with his staff. Pretty quick and neat in looks I think.

I'm pretty sure the trailer will be up later this week.

With all due respect to the thread title (and the English language), I believe the origins of a character is considered "General Discussion".

Anyway, I'm part trolling. The only "Indian bit" about Kilik is just the name of his Weapon.
His Staff, Sash/Pendant and Soul Calibur are all named after 3 eras in the Hindu Calender.

This is all stuff I read when I first got into the series. Ya'll might be interested.

I didn't get to see that, since the stream started lagging. ;_;

@LordOfLogic: The thread is specifically called "Xiba Official Discussion Thread," not "character general discussion," so I'm uncertain as to what you mean by "to the thread title."

@CFW: When did you start watching it? The trailer was during the second block of the stream.
