Xiba, Yoshimitsu, Cervantes and Aeon Confirmed!

Today, Famitsu announced four new characters for Soulcalibur V! While Yoshimitsu was "sort of" announced in the custom character trailer, there was never any real confirmation. As well, hints about Aeon Calcos comings from soundtrack leaks (the same way Raphael was discovered early). Aeon Calcos in case you don't know, is the original Lizardman!

In addition to the return of the immortal Cervantes, Namco has revealed a new staff user by the name of "Xiba". Xiba, a character clearly designed around the Monkey King from the Journey to the West story in Chinese Folklore. Several months back, Daishi stated on his twitter that Kilik was an "ill-fated" character. With the introduction of Xiba, it begs the question: "What happened to Kilik?"

Cervantes' illustration looks like someone in Project Soul has been drinking quite a lot of Capt'n Morgan's bear.

They gave Cervy huge pecs,open shirt, and a new body?

Cervy is wearing Ivy Fashion Design Style, they probably got together, finally. Mischievous father & daughter, conquering the fashion world of their century.

Lizardman is now a hospital logo, an Anunaki of both ill & cure.

I like Yoshi's split face skull exposed design, that part at least is very Yoshi-like.

The new kilik kid is just another ancient Sun Wukong (Son-Goku) adaptation.

Not 100% sure what to make of all this. Yoshimitsu is boss as ever, glad he's back (and a new Yosh, though hopefully just as mentally unstable as the last).

Cervantes looked best in SC3 P1 costume, in my opinion. But I didn't like him in SC4. At all. I'm glad for the change here. And at least somebody is aging. XD

Xiba is alright. Time will tell if he can rise above that low bar, or fail epically. For the record, he doesn't have an f'ing tale. He has a tiger pelt around his waist. Also, I'm very glad it's not spelled Sheba. Xiba is much better.

Aeon is... the first character design for SCV that I completely despise. I'm sorry, he's completely ridiculous. Definitely would have preferred a human Aeon. Ah well, I wasn't a big fan of Lizardman anyways and people seem to like him, I can live with it. So long as his firebreathing/flight isn't too obnoxious.

The new stages are just as beautiful as I've come to expect. I especially like Ivy's. And the story mode pictures look beast. So hyped.

I think that we are having a bit too many male character designs with their chest and abs revealing all to the people to see. There was already Maxi with his coat, Z.W.E.I. who has a sleeveless coat with "ripped" edges, and now we have Xiba who looks like Z.W.E.I.'s cheerful little brother or something with his jacket.

I don't have much problem with their design alone, but it's the fact that they are all together. That's just me nitpicking though since I'm more excited than ever to get this game. Just a bit sad that some "serious personality characters" are replaced (Taki and Kilik).

It's the staggering design type that I'm nitpicking about if you haven't noticed in the first place.

That was a cool costume. But lets face it it was pretty ridiculous. I mean super spikey style anime beard and purple skin? While I agree with you that Lizardman looks ridiculous I argue that he looks ridiculously awesome instead of some (Like Zwei and his unzipped pants supported by belts) which are just flat out ridiculous. Lizard is probably my favorite redesign so far. Frankly the only way they could improve him so far, in my opinion, is if he could crap exploding eggs.

 

I can not overstate how fucking much I love the new Yoshimitsu design.

Also, I actually like the new(old) Lizardman. The wings provide exciting new gameplay possibilities, as do the dual axes.

SO, he's got wings. Are we really concerned with the storyline of Soul Calibur at this point? Are we really concerned about the deep, intricate storyline they've woven for Lizardman in the past? You know, the one where he's a lizard. And a man. That one.
